    My honest question is the tuition and the “debt” I just spoke with financial aid today and the numbers that they just told me really kind of defeated me wanting to go to school. And it just more so I know that nothing in life is guaranteed specifically careers or having a job opportunity but I really just need help reflecting on if I should continue pursuing.

    These 3 things are transferable to any industry. PLEASE do research on anything you want to do NEVER totally depend on schools , government or any entity. They will never provide you with 100% of what you need to really succeed, every person is different! Please do as much research as you can AND depend on SELF and if you love GOD please don't loose that guidance either. Research, taking the initiative and really understand what you getting into. Strategy v. Dependency.
    Take these 3 lessons and use for life. Nobody owes us anything!

    I plan on enrolling due to 3 factors, 1. they offer a bachelor degree in creative writing which isn't that popular, 2. they appear to be very flexible when it comes to studying online, 3. the online degree only takes 2.4 years to finish.
    I am already 21 years old, genuinely too old for 4y studies, that's the first thing. Second, I plan on traveling, taking on a part-time job as well as getting a driving license, all starting next year at the very latest. Basically, I plan on living my life while I'm still young. I was hoping for Full Sail to be a college that would allow me to do all those things without too much interruption, since I can study well on my own and I don't need constant supervision.
    Any thoughts? Or maybe there's someone in a similar situation?

    • @patricklagrone3393
      @patricklagrone3393 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      21 isn't too old, as people get all kinds of degrees well off into the later stages of life as well, you can earn a degree or certificate during any stage of your life. Full Sail isn't regionally Accredited so if you plan to get a Masters in a related degree plan outside of them the transfer of credits may be a problem. The Credit hours cost is $533 dollars or $64,000 total if money or wanting a masters isn't a problem then check with students about how it was. If money is a problem and you want to go to a regionally acreddited school for a cheaper price then look around, also you can knock off most of your Gen Ed requirements on either Sophia/Slayor a community College which could save you a lot of money, for example SNHU is at $399 dollars for out of state tuition and for the 42 Gen Ed Credit hours it would cost you $16758 dollars rather than a few thousand at your community College or online at Sophia/Slayor (Sophia offers a free month trial and you can take 2 courses at a time and then it's a $99 a month and etc, I think Slayor follows a $5 proctured exam fee instead, so you can complete a few a month at Sophia or as much as you want before the free trial to decide if that's how you want to do it. An example at SNHU for every 30 credits it'll cost $9,600 and Major Credits for creative writing and English with a concentration or major is 48 credits or so, and you will have 30 free electives to explore other areas or put towards something to compliment your degree maybe even towards a masters if it works like that or a smaller number of free electives at other schools. But if you get your GenEd credits out of the way then mostly any school will be around 2-3 years for a bachelor's degree depending on what and how many credits transfer and if you'll need to take credits towards your degree. Hope this will help you out.

      @胡詠瑄 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patricklagrone3393 Hi Patrick! What you just told me was really helpful. The biggest problem I'm facing right now is indeed the money problem. Thank you so much. I haven't considered credit transfer before, it's a topic completely new to me. Do you think it would be possible for us to get in contact outside of TH-cam so I could ask a couple more questions regarding the matter? At this point I could really use any help.

    • @patricklagrone3393
      @patricklagrone3393 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@胡詠瑄 you're welcome and I'm glad it helped, yeah the credit transfer will help you cut down the cost a lot. What I told you is pretty much all I know about college other than you should apply for FASFA/ Pell Grant / Scholarships (local/private/etc) to help cut down the loan amount or eliminate the cost of your degree which I think I left out. The Fafsa I believe award between $500-$7000 a year and scholarships you will have to apply for which vary in amount, I think you can apply for different ones and some require you to maintain your GPA above a certain point, I think you can apply both before and during school for additional or current scholarships but I'm not 100% certain. I do know a lot of them are like a lottery system and some require you to be taking certain degrees and etc so you'd have to Google more about it or get in touch with a federal aid employer and they can help further explain all your tuition aid options. Another thing to touch on would be to pay attention to the cost of in-state and out of state tuition costs and decide how much difference is okay as some just vary between $2,000-$5,000 while others can vary above that well into the $10,000-$20,000 and some the same price and it also applies to the credit hours cost being instate out of state if you break it down that way. They have full-ride scholarships but idk how often they give those out along with a Dell $20,000 Scholarship (meant to be used over the course of your degree for fees and supplies), multiple laptop scholarships, which supply laptops for future or current students. Hope this further helps.

    • @胡詠瑄
      @胡詠瑄 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patricklagrone3393 Thank you so much. It did help a lot. I will definitely take a second look at the scholarships. I also did notice while looking through the universities how much the in-state and out-of-state tuition differs, sometimes it's almost ridiculous. By any chance, do you also know other colleges similar to Sophia that would offer cheap online courses purely for the credit transfer later on ?

    I like what you are saying here. I was taught these skills very long time ago when I first started college. Go search out your job market. Get on the U.S. labor and statistics web site to see if there are decent paying jobs in your field. where I live at, Even if $77k isn’t a lot of money to others, it is to me. Houses are so cheap i will be able to pay one off in two years plus a car. 😂 But then again this all depends on where you live. Like I stay in north Louisiana and Dallas,Tx is a 45 min drive. Live in a cheap area and work in an expensive one. 😁

    Just go to a real University or College. After you graduate you are still out of a job.

      🙄 this is why when I was going to several different colleges in my 20s I was taught to search those jobs out before you leave out of college. I have four I can take on right now only if I was skilled enough in the career I am taking on. I also went on the U.S. Department of labor to see if theirs a paying job market for my field and there is. So please do not listen to this guy who says you will be out of a job. Go to the U.S department of labor and look 👀 at the demand for your field of study that will let you know for sure.

      @@dequanpage3029 it definitely is accredited and idk why people keep saying that. It may not be regionally accredited but it's still recognized and no matter what college that is it all depends on ur situation if you're even going to graduate school after and all college that are regional always don't accept regional
