Pocket 3🔥I'm in need of a proper camera and not quite ready to get a new phone yet.
My reasons for thinking that the pocket is the best is mainly because of its stabilizer and that it is designed so that it does not weigh so much in the hand. Another thing to give point to the DJI would be the price compared to the 15 pro max since for stabilization you would have to buy other accessories and the charger head. It's just my humble opinion anyway it's your money. Blessings
Night footage on pocket 3 looks really good. Looks less artificially sharpened than phone footage but with just good detail and no grainy noise in the dark areas. Nice review!

But you can do gimble moves with Dji pocket 3. That changes everything. Trying to replicate the same moves using your hand is so much uncomfortable and some of them impossible. The option for iphone would be a small gimbal for phones but then it gets very bulky, and invasive when people see you. @@michaelbell75

Amazing comparison. But I think it''s important to remark the gimbal moves DJI pocket 3 gives you are key to a much better experience when filming. I have never been as excited about recording with an iphone as I am now filming with the dji pocket 3.

Was all the iPhone footage in ProRes? Do you notice that ProRes on the iPhone gives you more editing flexibility than you get with the Pocket 3?

Like your review because you used LOG files to show off how great the IPhone cameras are. Everyone else is just using the baked setting and trashing the IPhone. Having said that IPhone is not a very user-friendly tool to use. You need a proper holder, the phone overheats, the battery burns so fast and of course the lens flare
I can see use cases for both. The pocket 3 is more natural for holding, and active tracking and easy to stand up. The iPhone for more short clips.

Great video with no BS. I WAS very interested in the pocket 3 BUT as a fellow content creator that travels we don't care for the blurred background in selfie mode on the pocket 3 as there are times when you need a clear background behind you like when you film yourself with the grand canyon behind for instance. Also I don't like how it keeps trying to focus on people as you walk forward in crowded areas. This would be very distracting on a video IMO. Would a better option for low light be a good smart phone like the iPhone 15 pro with a gimbal for nighttime or running to help stabilize the footage and turning off video stabilization?

The focus can be configured in dji so not an issue, my iPhone with gimbal in theory is good but in practice too bulky to use in public. To record a video in iPhone with dlog you need an external hard disk, files are huge, again is not practical. Dji is the winner for video recording
I used my iPhone 8 with a gimbal and it does make the videos way better, BUT. Trust me, you will ditch filming like this pretty fast cuz it’s bulky as hell and carrying not only you phone but also a big ass gimbal with you is annoying. I also have a GoPro with a gimbal that is much smaller than a gimbal for a phone, but I also stopped using it pretty fast cuz it’s still inconvenient. I love the idea of having a gymbal and the fact that there’s a tiny gymbal camera out there makes me want to film again

Watched pretty most every video about pocket 3. Some of the users get bad comparable results when using it against ip15 and some amazing nightshots with more details and not much grain on pocket 3. Using same settings don't get it.
What focus setting did you use?
In most of the shots I used default AF-C setting and had the latest firmware installed
One huge problem with the iPhone. The iPhone doesn’t not support an external Bluetooth microphone in the native camera app. Huge bummer!

It’s not waterproof, won’t survive a drop from 1,5-2 meters as well… iPhone is a better choice for such circumstances

But the iPhone's front camera is not good. I can't see the screen when I shoot myself with the rear camera. So I thought DJI might be a good alternative. So I'm a little confused, to be honest.@@NOlimitsON
I test myself. For pocket 3, the max ISO I would use is 800.

Single biggest advantage of the P3 is that I could use my iPhone as a remote monitor/controller. I already have an iPhone 15 Pro Max plus an Insta360 Flow as well as a P2 Creative Combo, so I won't be buying a P3 in the immediate future.
It’s hard to beat the convenience & versatility of the iPhone Pro. The quality is better in most cases & you can instantly edit & share your pics & videos online. No other pocket camera can do that. And the iPhone cameras are only going to get better. Unless you use a DSLR or need an action or 360 cam for more dangerous stuff, there really is no need to get any other camera. The iPhone is always in your pocket. If Apple ever puts a small screen on the back of the iPhone, it would be the best vlogging camera.
Your wish Pocket PRO camera wouldn't be bad, but it would lose the "pocket" feature, I don't think it would fit comfortably in a trouser or jacket pocket!😄
In my opinion, this Pocket 3 (especially with new firmware update and 10-bit D-logM, 10-bit HLG and 10-bit normal profile surprisingly also available in 4k 120p) would have been perfect with 6k format, so as to be able to allow digital zoom even at 4x with almost no loss of sharpness and quality. All while maintaining very small size

I am getting the pocket 3 because it is more comfortable to use than the phone. You also get better video for selfie without having your arm stretched out as far.

people tend to forget that you can see yourself in a screen while using the camera in iphone that that doesnt happen unless you use selfie low reso camera
And m4/3 sensor with f2.8 lens has similar low light performace as 1 inch sensor with f2.0. So I would not be that thrilled if they come out with pro version with m4/3 and f2.8.

The main thing about Vlogging camera must be its ease to use. Its hella difficult to do vlogging with rear cameras in iphones when we have to show our face cuz we cant know if we are in frame or not. Thats what stopping me to use it from all this time, and using apple pro res is not a option for everyone cuz it takes a lot of space :((
I used Blackmagic camera app and the h265 codec in apple log - 1 hour of 4K 25p footage is 8GB only)) so the sizes are not an issue. The rear camera - yes, not comfy)

Another great video. For me, the biggest downside of pocket is the focal length is too wide, I know it design for Vlog, but they included even wider lens adaptor with horrible barrel distortion, for what? 😂. The wide fov make filming people really hard to look good. I wish that they would release a more tight lens adaptor, about 28mm or 30mm, or a pocket pro like you said with dedicated tele lens would be perfect.
And the biggest downside of the Iphone for me is that you can not see your self while filming with the rear camera. I saw lots of solution like use a reflect mirror, connect to apple watch.... But non of them is as good as the ability to look straight to the main screen. I really love the Iphone camera. But this downside make me want to buy a pocket. But the pocket FOV really makes me sad 😂

This is not a real question, as you always have the phone with you anyway, so the alternative is just the phone or phone + DJI. I have the S23 Ultra and I bought the DJI creator combo because of its better usability, practicality, and ergonomics in many situations. The front facing screen and wireless mic of the DJI is a huge advantage, with the phone you need to have a rig to attach the receiver and you can't frame yourself with confidence. Not to mention the great advantages of having two cameras on you
I'd go with the iPhone, because I'll be taking it with me anyways, plus its much more versatile in terms of focal lengths, holds battery better, so I don't see a need to bring a separate device with me. But for some use-cases like yours - the Pocket 3 is really convenient.

Yes, exaclty when I posted the video they've added 4K 120p HLG and D-Log M to the Pocket 3 with a firmware.
The focusing issue on DJI is because you had it on continuous vs single focus. Just set the single focus and it won’t do that.
I’d prefer continuous af to work a lot better as well
Dji p3 is the king
stop putting the pocket 3 inside that case, tons of people on forums are saying its slowing yanking the tiny screen too forward as you take it out of the case since its too tight, it'll eventually fail. I was so lucky to be able to return my pocket 3 on the 12th day. Lastly DONT flick the monitor open by its self, guide and HOLD the monitor when you flip it. that flicking snap on the monitor seems to be the main failure on these models.
So it seems that dji’s engineering team had failed 😅

iPhone has no gimbal. Built in ibis and software image stabilization are no match for any real gimbal like the one on the P3.
The iPhone 15 as a vlogging camera is way too expensive. I'd go for the DJI Pocket

In case you ever make a video comparison between iPhone 15 Pro and Insta360 Ace Pro, I'd like to ask for a lot more walking/stabilization footage at night time (in well lit areas like in this video)
I bought the Ace Pro, I think it is the best add on to a good cameraphone: weather sealed, great sensor and lenses, flip screen and not as sensible as the pocket 3. Image quality… nothing is as good as the pocket 3, you’ll have to go to an APS-C system to get better than that (which isn’t as portable).
For people that want to travel light, even the pocket 3 + add ons is already in the limit, a n APS-C would be already too much.

Thanks! Just as I thought, zero reason to buy a DJI, your smartphone is just as good and if you have a 15 Pro Max like I do, it's even better than the DJI. Too bad other reviewers won't do this comparison. DJI must be paying them too much money to act like it's the most amazing device ever created while a top smartphone will outperform it in every area lol.

I really like the iPhone 15 Pro Max and it works like a wonder! I had a month's trip to Spain and also took recordings while in a moving car. The footage came out brilliant! But, to get the "smoothness" (of the stabilisation), I have to record using the default camera app. This is where it falls. HDR is over-sharpened and LOG is bloated in size. Something that I wish in the future (soon, please) firmware update to allow to choose LOG using HEVC instead of ProRes.
BlackMagic app is a modern miracle, except for one thing. The stabilisation!

Great test, I'm disappointed with Pocket 3. The iPhone is great, add a gimbal to it to record better in the evening. Unfortunately, the iPhone has image problems and flares in the evening.
