    The Comet has been sold! It has been a pleasure having this bike but it was time for someone else to be able to enjoy it and ride it more. I had a fantastic road trip to Montana and the Comet is now with its new owner. Thank you for watching all my videos. Best wishes, Mike

    What a lovely motorcycle. I'm sure the new owner will look after it and ride it with pride.

    It’s got to be bitter sweet to part with that Comet. But passing it on to someone who will love it and ride it must be comforting. They really are made to be ridden and enjoyed.

    I had a Harley I bought new and rode 30 years. The gentleman that purchased it, is having the time of his life on it. I sure miss it, even though I have two remaining.
    So many bikes and so little time!

    I love the brit bike owner habit of keep looking at the engine to check no problems!😂

    Great review. Had a Comet (MVM 359) between 1972 to 1982. Had to sell it after buying a new house to pay for a washing machine, cooker, etc... Always regretted it's but is still on the road according to the DVLA website. Lovely bike. Not perfect. Unreliable, bits used to fall off, terrible electrics, rubbish lights - candle at the front, glow worm at the back. Vibration through the handlebars, lost all feeling in your hands after a long ride, top speed 85mph downhill with a tail wind. Like every lovely women she had and a charm and personality to win your heart....I miss her...

    A bit late with this but I must say I’m deeply envious of the new owner, to own any Vincent would be an absolute dream come true. And coming from a careful and mechanically sympathetic owner as yourself they are getting a really nice bike. Still with a Rapide as well, that would be the obvious favourite.
    I only live about 20 odd miles from Stevenage and to trundle around the lanes would be marvellous on such a bike….sorry day dreaming again.
    By the way I’m sure Mr Crow was saying “No, keep it. Don’t sell”😁.
    Best wishes👍🏻

    Hey Mike NZ Ralph here again I didn't get singles until I bought a DR650.
    The're so light and maneuverable, easy for an old geezer like me to wheel around the garage to.

    Hello Mike. It's always sad when we finally cut loose something we've put a lot of time into. I know I was with my first wife.

    A sad moment, but being hard-headed, a sensible decision. Culling the herd also means there's room for another!

    The tick-over is pure poetry on this bike. Oh and it is truly amazing that further to bikes you also know about Mawashi-geri.

      Thank you, Andy, yes I will do. I’ve got an Insta 360° camera fitted to an extension pole mounted on the side of the bike. You can just make it out for a second as I get on the bike before riding. It looks a bit funky, but it’s amazing how you can edit the angles. Best wishes, Mike.

      😀😀 it started really well after the initial start. I was a bit nervous at first, but it did really well after that. I think it just needed to be woken up :-)

    Sounds epic and took me right back to my teenage years in Eccles when nearly everyone had a small cpacity single like Franny Barnets, AJS, Royal Enfield etc. I bet you are more than a bit sad to part ways with it. Took me a while to bond with my Speedy after letting my Trumpet of 23 years go. Bit like wives really (or husbands). Keep on truckin' mate.

      500cc is not that little... mighty thing for a single (in it's time and even today) tbh that (as a kicker) could kick you like a horse if you don't watch out. :))

    Great job Mike. The arc of ownership has 4 stages. Desire, purchase, experience and sale. Do you have a new owner already lined up or will you be offering the bike publicly?
    Good luck with your next purchase.

    I've noticed in the past year or two as I view old British bike restoration channels that you guys always look at the oil return. It something I've never done on any bike I've owned. Although I think the last bike I had with a separate oil tank was my 1971 Honda CB750. Is the oil not returning to the oil tank a common problem with these bikes?

    • @derekcollins1972
      @derekcollins1972 ปีที่แล้ว

      No,it's not a common problem but it is a good habit to do. That might be the last ride if no oil was circulating. Just a reasurance check.

    • @casmitherz
      @casmitherz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen oil starvation on a Honda only from improper top end re-assembly. The British bikes might actually have a lack of oil due to pump failure or leak? It's just a habit to check I think. :-)
