The show only enforcing that Annabeth was THAT girl in my adolescence and will continue to be THAT girl for a new generation of young black girls *olivia Wilde nodding*🤭🤷🏾♀️
The Annabeth being blonde point that people seem to be sticking to annoys me. Yes, It was a big point that she was underestimated and belittled because of her appearance. You know who else is often belittled, underestimated, and ignored. Black girls. Especially young black girls. More so than a white white girl who happens to be blonde. Just say you're racist and move on.
But people had the same critism with Annabeth not being blonde in the first movie and she was played by a white girl then. And it wasn't just Annabeth, a lot of fans were very scepticle of a blonde Percy and/or the lack of a blonde Luke. Some fans are just attached to the character they grew up with and that's okay, no need to call them all racists. (I know there are, unfortunately, some racists people who have said some really horrible things aimed at Leah and to be clear, THAT is indefensible. Harrassing children for a casting choice you don't agree with is NOT okay and actually that isn't even limited to children.) I also agree with your point about how the essence of her character's struggle to be taken seriously still translates perfectly with the series casting and I really like the actors takes on the characters so far.
@@tinyfreckle "no need to call them all racists." and no need to defend even the few "understandable" ones with your soul. No matter the reasons, it doesn't justify unsavoury behavior. And so _they_ should also get that all they're essentially doing is throwing a tantrum.
that’s such an amazing point 😭 like wdym her not being blonde erases her desire to prove herself to others like,, just say u want ur whiteabeth and move on
@user-pt5cl2ro6f you clearly didn't get my point at all because I was talking about the many who AREN'T throwing a tantrum or displaying unsavory behaviour and are just a little disappointed they'll never have a book accurate Annabeth. Were they also "throwing a tantrum" when the white actress in the movie didn't have blonde hair? I'm also not "defending them with my soul." I'm just pointing out a pretty obvious fact with words. Clearly, a black and white thinker like you can't understand that basic level of nuance.
I'm LOVING this adaptation. It's so clear that the showrunners/writers took full advantage of the having the completed story from the books, and so they're able to sow seeds, foreshadowing and even add new scenes and perspectives that we'rent in the books due to them being only from Percy's eyes. The episodes just keep ketting better and better. Even the few crticisms I have when I watch an episode is resolved in the next one. I'm so pumped to see where they go with. LOVE the cast they're incredible together. Also I'm a total nerd who loves to watch behind the scenes, and two podcasts I listen breakdown the episodes so well and even insert interviews they did with the writers and crew about the show and it's so validaitng to see them discuss the points and themes that I thought while watching the show. lol this is long, but I'm just so happy that we're FINALLY getting a good adaptation of these wonderful books.
Leah’s take on Annabeth is completely different than what I imagined but honestly, she embodies the her so well. All three of them are so good for their roles and the chemistry they have with each other is so evident in the show. Seriously, perfect casting
Yes I pictured a little more snark than the stoicism that we got in the beginning, but it works. It works really well. And now that she’s coming out of her shell she’s gradually becoming the character I saw in the books, and it’s so satisfying.
i can't imagine anyone else playing the lead 3. I'm currently reading the books alongside following the show, and when I read, I can't imagine anyone else's faces aside from the series cast. I love them so much, and I think the casting is flawless. Whenever people complain about it-- I just want to yell because this cast is cinematic perfection.
I'm also having that experience. Especially when Annabeth makes a very blunt comment or when Percy gets sassy, when Grover just tries to make everything flow well in the mission idk their faces all come to me. I even started picturing future scenes with them more grown up acting them out
@@heyitsmira17 I love the series cast with every fiber of my soul, and I am so excited for the Ares episode because HE HAS A BIKER LOOK WITH THE COOLEST JACKET! thank you, someone had to say it. in terms of some people saying it’s rushed and things like that, it’s weird to me how people don’t understand that a story needs to be more effectively told on screen, even when it’s a longer adaptation like a show. and when it comes to the changes made, i love all of them so far. i think they improve on the book, in fact. like in episode 4 (spoilers) when they go to the arch in the book, they don’t really have an incentive to go except that their train to denver makes a stop in st louis and annabeth wants to go see the arch. there is no real plot reason for that except to have them bump into echidna. in the show it felt way more organic and it made sense to have them sort of be chased by echidna from the train and to make the arch a safe space. this makes way more sense plot wise. and they also added actual consequences for them having sent medusa’s head to olympus. overall, i love the show. it’s charming, has so much heart, the changes are for the better, the pacing is perfect for a show, and overall i’m obsessed
i srsly hope this show goes on for all 5 books bcuz i need to to see everything unfold!!! also great video im glad ur not hypercritical of everything like other a-holes online
Things I've loved: - Casting is perfect argue with the wall. They all perfectly capture the essence of each character so well. - Set design is so good!!! - "Like Jesus?" - Medusa being a victim! - The entire St. Louis sequence was phenomenal. - The consensus song - I like how they're already planting dialogue / hints at the gods being unjust / bad parents / the system being broken. In the books it took a while longer for those themes to really jump out Things I didn't love: - Grover would never betray Percy by getting him expelled! I get it was ultimately to protect him but that felt very out of character and like a odd introduction to their friendship. - Annabeth ONLY saying "you drool when you sleep" to Percy when he woke up at camp -- she was FRANTIC trying to learn more about the lightning bolt in the books. I think it was a silly percabeth moment but it also robbed Annabeth of showing off some cleverness / how tuned in she was to camp happenings / how badly she wanted a quest - A lack of time jumps, especially at camp -- would've been so much better than Luke's exposition dumping. Also just really wanted to see Percy being gaslit ab Mrs. Dodds LOL - I know it's intentional but I really don't like the change to Sally and Gabe's relationship? It feels a lot more trivial and kind of takes away from the sacrifice Sally made by being with Gabe, knowing it was an abusive relationship. I also don't see how we'll get a satisfying and slay Sally murdering Gabe punchline like we did in the books LOL
I was originally hesitant on Annabeth, as I had went to see her various previous acting and was concerned with her range that was limited to stoic and angry only. Granted, I understood that this could have been due to poor writers, and I was willing to wait until I saw the show, and I have been completely satisfied, as she has done an amazing job on the show so far, and I am sure she will keep it up.
I just love the show, the cast, everything. I've never really left my PJO stan era and honestly it feels like a dream come true. I adore what they're doing, the changes, they surprise me positively! It would've been so predictable as a book reader to see everything exactly as it's there... I'm really enjoying the bits that they decided to expand on. Per example I know Hephaestus and Hermes will show up somewhere in following episodes and neither show up in book 1, so it gets me thrilled to see what they'll be going for. So exciting to be in this world again (and I'm hoping Disney makes tons of merch bc the lord knows this fandom has always been dry on those and craving for official merch like camp shirts and beads for the necklace
Preach about the merch - there's so many items and magical *stuff* in this show, it just seems kind of crazy to not have any good merch around. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise, I'm not sure if I want Percy Jackson to become another merch-topia like Harry Potter.
I’m having so much fun with this show, I LOVE all the parallels and added depth to the characters and godly parent/child dynamics (annabeth and Medusa with Athena) I do wish we got to spend more time at camp before going on the quest, maybe that would’ve been the case if the show was given more episodes but they’re doing the best they can with pacing.
I just can't find it in myself to criticize the kids' acting at this point because they're KIDS - they're doing they're best, and i'm more concerned with them actually having a good time, because again, they're kids in what can be a stressful environment!! They're gonna improve, but i'm not gonna whine about it now. People should lay off these kids fr
I also feel like people forget that the kids acting for example in the first two Harry Potter movie wasn´t that outstanding either (apart for Rupert Grint imo). I honestly think they´re doing fine. I think the diaolg being so "info-dumping-like" isn´t helping either. They are better when they are allowed to just be kids and perform better in scenes together imo.
@@florence_black i think they're doing great! they already have so much chemistry and heart so early into acting together. They seem to have a lot of fun behind the camera too, so that's really nice. I personally don't mind the info dumping bc it makes in the context - we're kind of suddenly being thrown into the world without any prior knowledge, just like percy's pov. The only way for him to catch up and understand the world (while on a tight quest deadline) is for people to info-dump him stuff, like feed him instant knowledge. But of course that's my opinion!
People complaining about Leah not being blonde are missing the point. It's always "Oh! She's supposed to fight the dumb blonde trope." They literally have so many movies and stories that explore that. Black girls rarely get to see themselves in fantasy...and as a Black girl that likes this kind of stuff, it's nice for us to finally see ourselves in a space like that. Especially since she's the daughter of the goddess of wisdom!
thank youuu, i NEED people to let the movie lotus scene GOO also yesss agreed about how they are showing percy’s feelings about his father everytime i see an edit made by a preteen i am overcome with nostalgia
My biggest problem is just that I think the dialogue is less well written than the book dialogue, and idk why they rewrote it, they could have included the original dialogue and it wouldn’t have taken any extra time. If they wanted to rewrite it, they could’ve made it as funny as the books but I just feel like it’s less funny than the books. Except Grover, Grover stays hilarious the whole time, Aryan is killing it. I think it’s still a good show, but I definitely prefer the books and I was a little disappointed by the show.
The book is in Percy's POV and it's his thoughts that are funny. His funny side still shows by his sarcastic remarks and silly quips. I'm sure when he finally figures out his identity, he'll start to lighten up.
I love how percy is done with his dad in the show, cuz I was Always so mad and didnt understand how they could like their godly parents in the books. I also like that they changed medusas story and made it more accurate to actual greek mythology. Been a medusa defender since day 1 and love how they handled it in the show.
It's weird because I remember the books being hilarious. Very light-hearted and fun (at least the first couple of books). It's why when they cast Walker Scobell I got so excited. Baby Ryan Reynolds seemed like such perfect casting for his snark. But then the show has been pretty serious in tone. Walker's Percy is sad most of the time. And I don't hate it. I actually really appreciate the perspective and consistency. But it is jarring to my memory of the books. I remember laughing all through the first book until the ending, which hit like a gut punch. And its weird seeing the funny/ironic chapter titles as episode names in a show that takes everything deadly serious. But again, I really like the show.
i think the biggest difference is not being in Percy’s inner monologue. that had most of his funny lines i think. i like the serious tone of the show but wouldn’t mind more humor as well
I want to start off by saying I love the new cast! My favorite detail so far is Annabeth’s cap of invisibility!! I adore her character from the book and the show!! Also, I like that Luke has dark hair feels fitting
This show is so perfect and I adore it! It’s so crazy to see these characters I was once younger then be WAYY younger then me like wow 😭 Protecting this cast forever they are perfect! :D
Ngl I always imagined annabeth as black lol I somehow override the descriptions of her being white and blonde to being black with curly hair. So this casting rings true with my childhood 😂😂
One thing I'll give the show credit for is Percy's ADHD depiction. Movie Percy has 0 personality. Show Percy is relatable, sassy and full of expression
My only complain is that I want more of it. I don't understand how people are complaining more now than in the movies WHEN THE AUTHOR HIMSELF IS WORKING IN THE SHOW!!!💀
to touch on the poker face and logan lerman thing, i will be genuinely shocked if they will. rick on record has said that he doesn’t want to draw attention or reference anything from the movies, so this would just never happen (also the fade to blacks are for ads!)
The thing is even tho the casino scene in the film was iconic, it still was a far cry from the book plot. It was the luxury experience of the hotel casino itself that lured the kids and they never wanted to leave, but the film decided to drug them for funsies just because, honestly I think it was the nostalgia speaking when they praised the lady gaga scene
I do wish that it was set in the mid 2000's like it is in the books, but I understand making it current for the younger target audience to relate to it more- like percy flossing lol
I love the show but I disagree about genre expectations just because the book had details like him getting injured on the Minotaur and feeling whiplash, almost knocking teeth out. Like it doesn’t mean we need excessive gore but I think it added to the stakes where Percy’s life was always in danger and he was physically going through a lot. The contrast between the pain and ambrosia and nectar would be highlighted too. Still kinda sad they didn’t have Annabeth giving him the nectar and ambrosia
I love the show so much and I think it’s a great adaptation. It’s faithful to the book but of course some changes are necessary and in my opinion all the changes has been to the better. I get so sad when I see people hating on the show but I guess it’s their loss.
Seen the first four episodes about 5 times, and I absolutely love this series! I don’t care if that seems obsessive, because I’m sure like everyone here I grew up on these books and not only were they a source of entertainment, but they were also coping mechanisms for shit going on in school and home life (plus I had COVID during the time of the 4th episode being released so I thought ‘why not’.
I love the show, I need the whole series to be made. I love the casting, I love that Annabeth calls Percy sunshine in episode two, that's just cute. Outside of casting complaints (cause I feel like all the ones I see is people complaining about Leah being casted as Annabeth, which is gross. I never see anyone saying anything about Clarisse & Luek despite also not being "book accurate"), the criticisms that bother me the most is people complaining about the show having too much exposition but then also someone being upset that Annabeth didn't explain her capture the flag plan even though it's a tv show, so you can see her plan happening in real time. I've also seen people being like "I'm fine with Lin-Manuel Miranda being in the show but why is he not Apollo, god of music?" and it's because Apollo is supposed to look like a seventeen/eighteen year old and chooses to look like that whenever possible. And Lin-Manuel Miranda is like, definitely a middle aged man.
I really loved the way that they made changes that make more sense with the following books (e.g. Percy and Annabeth's relationship) as well as giving us more context on Percy and Sally's past (the Poseidon scenes were absolutely amazing). The only thing I felt the show was lacking was not only telling, but SHOWING Annabeth's intelligence. In the books it makes more sense how Percy comes to think of her as "Wise Girl", rather than the TV show's depiction of her as a rational person but nothing more than that. The actress however, was incredible, given the script. Also, I love how there were a bunch of things incorporated for book fans to understand (e.g. camp beads, blue pancakes, etc.) but I felt as though it lacked in world-building in that aspect. A viewer is expected to know these things, they are not introduced, which doesn't really help with expanding the fanbase to new audiences. All in all, I felt like it was a solid adaptation (I am incredibly excited for S2!!) but has some improvements to be made. I hope they remediate this in S2, it would make for a better adaptation. EDIT: Also, the actors for Sally and Poseidon were absolutely amazing! They really developed this storyline the best way they could have. The way that Poseidon reacts to Sally being mentioned, Sally's emotional display. They were Perfect.
I have a feeling that they’re going to do something similar to what Harry Potter did. It’s tame and childish now but it’s gonna be edgier as the series goes on and the cast😊 get older
I am 68 years old and I absolutely love the books. The two movies were good, but the SERIES WAS EXCELLENT! I am still anticipating a Season 2 of the series.
The cuts to black are commercial breaks, that's why people might feel weirded out, but if you see show with the disney ads you barely notice them. So I guess that's why they're there, tbh I don't mind them that much
I feel like also some book fans get super defensive to any critism at all. Like I've been LOVING the tv show but can still see issues with the pacing, sets, cgi (which due to their large budget i feel like there is really no excuse), and how some changes are affecting the quality of the stroytelling (not all of them some of them i really loved). You can critizise the show and still enjoy it/support it,.
At first i thought it was going to be awful (like 96% of reboots) but this one EVEN THO I'M NOT THE RIGHT DEMOGRAPHIC imma have to say i was happily surprised about how strong the show is for a reboot.
I'm loving the show so far!! I was a huge fan of the PJ books as a kid and the show is able to capture the spirit of the book series so incredibly well. If they would have just dyed Percy's actor's hair black they'dve fixed every problem I have!
I wass excited for this show and it is not terrible. However, I felt like Percy is too serious, he and Annabeth are supposed to have a lot of banter but instead they have like 5 heart to hearts per episode. Annabeth was absolutely delivering tho, she was killing it. Grover delivered his lines like on of the kids I HSMTMTS and it was very distracting. My No. 1 criticism tho was that it was literally too dark. It seemed like it was always night time and I couldn't see wtf was going on.
THANK YOU for this. The show deserves so much appreciation. Some people just couldn't get contented. It's already very good with only four episodes, what more if they were given the chance for 5 seasons.
My only complaint w the show so far is they’re going slightly differently on Percy and Annabeth’s relationship. And that’s definitely pretty nit-picky haha.
@@basicgorl Yep same here! And this episode was definitely the best one as far as them starting to develop whatever they’re going towards. There were a few sweet moments between them.
I personally feel like they’re easing into them being something a bit more than the books. Idk maybe it’s just hard to be as descriptive in show format but either way like i said i’m still enjoying it!
@@Looshington Well, I like this take because they are clearly developing them from the start and we know that Annabeth had crush on him since they were 12 and Percy probably too or followed right after her so it makes sense we can feel these early sparks also due to the actors' chemistry which I really love! But I'm sure it will still be a slow burn, they are learning to be friends now, but I guess in the book there wasn't any hugs and I didn't expect so many scenes with them, but like I said I really like this take and I think it will made for a more satisfying yearning and slow burn in the future seasons as well!
I think the only thing I’m struggling with watching this show so far is the pacing. One of the things that for me made the books so fun to read was the quirkiness of the characters and their childlike humor, and I feel like the show has a lot of lingering space to emphasize the gravity that could be filled with a little bit more characterization and Riordian humor. But I feel like they’re warming up and hopefully it can keep developing to the best that it can be, I’m just hoping it doesn’t end up being let go like the Shadow & Bone series did. But the kids are doing great!!!
I liked the first two episodes, I haven't watched 5 yet but the fourth episode was not very good at all imo, I don't know if it's because the director rushed it or what but the acting was horrible
I have no stakes in the accuracy of this series because it just wasn’t my series growing up but I am so sick of people attacking children/teens/young adults. If nothing else, they are people who deserve to be respected. Even if they were bad (fyi, I think they all do an amazing job), you just don’t abuse people like that.
They're 12! *at the point of filming* and 15 *for grover* cut them some slack! Also for fight scenes, the things they are fighting aren't there. Seriously impressive!
Idc imma be that guy , annabeth in this show isn’t anything like annabeth in the books . So for this version of annabeth the actor is playing her part well but that’s this version of annabeth NOT the annabeth from the books . While yes she watched Percy get attacked Book annabeth would never let that happen . Did yall also forget that whole book annabeth had her issues with Percy she still wasn’t as mean or cold to him as she is in this show . Another thing These actors are doing a fantastic job playing this version of these characters but NOT versions of the book characters. And I wish y’all would stop saying these characters are exactly like the books and this show is exactly like the books it’s not . For what this version of the story is it’s fine but the REAL / Original story will always be superior imho . With that being said kuddos to the actors . But one thing I will say is Hollywood stop tryna force misandrism on young girls . All annabeth has done in this show is be a toxic male honestly . It’s kinda pathetic. I get it she’s suppose to be strong but why have her be to the point of just coming off as rude and annoying ? That’s all imma say .
also people getting mad about annabeth being a young Black girl (with a protective hairstyle no less!) completely and totally missed the point of annabeth’s character who defied expectations and proved everyone who underestimated her because of her appearance completely wrong. her impact as a blonde actress wouldn’t have been as poignant in 2024. also percy jackson series literally exists to make kids feel represented. rick wrote the books for his son with ADHD and dyslexia so these “fans” who are pissed about leah aren’t actually fans of the themes and should go reread them
I love the Percy Jackson books, I really do, but I will never be able to bring myself to watch the show for numerous reasons. 1. The casting is not my cup of tea. They said they were going to try to stick to the source material only to immediately screw up the 3 most vital characters. It isn't just this show that makes me angry like this, Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot makes me absolutely irate. 2. Disney made it and Disney has made a single good show or movie since they finished making Pirates of the Caribbean. 3. The books are always better, every single time. If you like the show, good for you, continue to enjoy it. I do not bear Mr. Riordan nor any of the actors any ill will, it is just not my cup of tea.
I adore the show and really enjoy the changes they made. The cast and sets are amazing. I also love Annabeth so much and am loving the exploration of her relationship with Athena and Percy and Annabeth are GIVING
Adults forget what it was like to be a kid. That is why every older generation hates the younger ones. I have seen adults get visibly angry that a 12-year-old acts like a 12-year-old because "they never acted that way at 12". Sorry to burst your bubble, but yes, you did. You just forgot. lol

What are the podcasts? I'd love to listen to them too!

Honestly such a perfect cast 😗🤌🏻
like it’s crazy
Right??

FR THEY ARE SO PERFECT
I don't know about perfect casting, ATLA is a perfect casting. Casting a white, black and an Asian does not scream the message at all.

Same same.
Here's some slander for you, since it scares you so much: the show is painfully MID.@@laylammorais
This right here! This right here! They'd better leave this precious, perfect casting alone!
the fact that the squad is all curly haired is amazing
i can't imagine anyone else playing the lead 3.
@@Evoker23-lx8mb yes ! But before they woudn't make the cast teenagers or else how would they make it okay to sexualize them and make them horny all the time
thank you, someone had to say it. in terms of some people saying it’s rushed and things like that, it’s weird to me how people don’t understand that a story needs to be more effectively told on screen, even when it’s a longer adaptation like a show. and when it comes to the changes made, i love all of them so far. i think they improve on the book, in fact. like in episode 4 (spoilers) when they go to the arch in the book, they don’t really have an incentive to go except that their train to denver makes a stop in st louis and annabeth wants to go see the arch. there is no real plot reason for that except to have them bump into echidna. in the show it felt way more organic and it made sense to have them sort of be chased by echidna from the train and to make the arch a safe space. this makes way more sense plot wise. and they also added actual consequences for them having sent medusa’s head to olympus. overall, i love the show. it’s charming, has so much heart, the changes are for the better, the pacing is perfect for a show, and overall i’m obsessed
i srsly hope this show goes on for all 5 books bcuz i need to to see everything unfold!!! also great video im glad ur not hypercritical of everything like other a-holes online
And then Heroes of Olympus! I'd cry 😭
I was spectacle at first. Now I'm hooked and waiting on the other episodes.
Things I've loved:
- Casting is perfect argue with the wall. They all perfectly capture the essence of each character so well.
- Set design is so good!!!
- "Like Jesus?"
- Medusa being a victim!
- The entire St. Louis sequence was phenomenal.
- The consensus song
- I like how they're already planting dialogue / hints at the gods being unjust / bad parents / the system being broken. In the books it took a while longer for those themes to really jump out
Things I didn't love:
- Grover would never betray Percy by getting him expelled! I get it was ultimately to protect him but that felt very out of character and like a odd introduction to their friendship.
- Annabeth ONLY saying "you drool when you sleep" to Percy when he woke up at camp -- she was FRANTIC trying to learn more about the lightning bolt in the books. I think it was a silly percabeth moment but it also robbed Annabeth of showing off some cleverness / how tuned in she was to camp happenings / how badly she wanted a quest
- A lack of time jumps, especially at camp -- would've been so much better than Luke's exposition dumping. Also just really wanted to see Percy being gaslit ab Mrs. Dodds LOL
- I know it's intentional but I really don't like the change to Sally and Gabe's relationship? It feels a lot more trivial and kind of takes away from the sacrifice Sally made by being with Gabe, knowing it was an abusive relationship. I also don't see how we'll get a satisfying and slay Sally murdering Gabe punchline like we did in the books LOL
mow that the whole show is how, how do you feel about it now? especially the last issue you had about sally and gabe’s relationship?
I think the fade to blacks are where commercial breaks would be if/when this series airs on tv
A lower tier of D+ membership has commercials in those fade to black moments
thank youuu, i NEED people to let the movie lotus scene GOO
also yesss agreed about how they are showing percy’s feelings about his father
everytime i see an edit made by a preteen i am overcome with nostalgia
My fav is Medusa. I just know one of her snakes wears airpods listening to Desperado by Rihanna while turning people into stones.
It’s so crazy to see these characters I was once younger then be WAYY younger then me like wow 😭
Protecting this cast forever they are perfect! :D
I will trade that “PokerFace” casino scene for the “What is Love” tunnel scene in the show any day. It was so good.
I love the show! I look forward to wstching it every week. Im highly entertained which is what TV shows are supposed to do.
I don't understand how people are complaining more now than in the movies WHEN THE AUTHOR HIMSELF IS WORKING IN THE SHOW!!!💀
Your intro is literally the best! Never change it
to touch on the poker face and logan lerman thing, i will be genuinely shocked if they will. rick on record has said that he doesn’t want to draw attention or reference anything from the movies, so this would just never happen (also the fade to blacks are for ads!)
I get so sad when I see people hating on the show but I guess it’s their loss.
i was never interested in percy jackson till the series release but now i'm reading the books cus i'm just rlly enjoying it lol
Im holding out on my delusions that one day we will get to see the seven 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
SHE RETURNSSSS
the only thing i wanna see in the next season is Annabeth with blonde tips godess braids
LOLLL the end is so real i've been eating up every percabeth edit
Awesome job on Percy Jackson!!!!😊😊😊😊
Seen the first four episodes about 5 times, and I absolutely love this series! I don’t care if that seems obsessive, because I’m sure like everyone here I grew up on these books and not only were they a source of entertainment, but they were also coping mechanisms for shit going on in school and home life (plus I had COVID during the time of the 4th episode being released so I thought ‘why not’.
aryan is 17, so still a kid! 🫶🏼
He’s acting is sooo good already 🥹 Love how he portrayed a loving and responsible protector, not just a comedic relief
And Lin-Manuel Miranda is like, definitely a middle aged man.
im pretty sure the fades to black are for ads on disney+ and some ppl have been saying its representing each chapter? not sure abt that one tho
i love you forever you worded your opinions so maturely and i agree w everything you said
I really loved the way that they made changes that make more sense with the following books (e.g.
I’m really hoping they get to heroes of Olympus. They have some of my favorite moments from the books
So I guess that's why they're there, tbh I don't mind them that much
i never read the books but im gonna read them now after loving the show so much
I feel like also some book fans get super defensive to any critism at all.
If they would have just dyed Percy's actor's hair black they'dve fixed every problem I have!
first of all, Percabeth is being set up so well
This was delightful - thanks!
It seemed like it was always night time and I couldn't see wtf was going on.
it’s been YEARS since the books. the characters got a little remastered and that’s normal, expected even. i think the show is doing a great job
And that’s definitely pretty nit-picky haha.
noticed that too but im super interested in seeing how their relationship develops
@@basicgorl Yep same here! And this episode was definitely the best one as far as them starting to develop whatever they’re going towards. There were a few sweet moments between them.
wdym by slightly differently than in the books? No hate just curious!
I'll never fully cope with the fact that Poker Face won't be included in this version, it's canon to me at this point😭
these percabeth edits are KILLING me and i need more.
Me still waiting for season two 😭😭
I hope its Poker Face but my hopes are lower than sea level.

The cast is perfect. But quite honestly, I'm still not totally sold on their performances. 😭
They're 12! *at the point of filming* and 15 *for grover* cut them some slack! Also for fight scenes, the things they are fighting aren't there. Seriously impressive!

The show is great i just wish the episodes were longer

Overall I really liked ❤
Annabeth is far meaner in the books especially the first one
I like the the Percy character has this sort of mish mash blonde hair cause it looks so beachy
Da he’ll do you think he was described as being Mediterranean ish 👉 😆👈
Its just a really good adaptation 😊
waiting for the meme video 😔
also people getting mad about annabeth being a young Black girl (with a protective hairstyle no less!) completely and totally missed the point of annabeth’s character who defied expectations and proved everyone who underestimated her because of her appearance completely wrong. her impact as a blonde actress wouldn’t have been as poignant in 2024.
also percy jackson series literally exists to make kids feel represented. rick wrote the books for his son with ADHD and dyslexia so these “fans” who are pissed about leah aren’t actually fans of the themes and should go reread them
I love the Percy Jackson books, I really do, but I will never be able to bring myself to watch the show for numerous reasons.
I hope to the gods that they don't do pokerface. The movies suck and did not get the lotus scene correct

GWORL I KNOW IM KINDA LATE BUT COULD YOU DO CARMILLA THE WEB SERIES OR THE MOVIE?
Adults forget what it was like to be a kid. That is why every older generation hates the younger ones. I have seen adults get visibly angry that a 12-year-old acts like a 12-year-old because "they never acted that way at 12". Sorry to burst your bubble, but yes, you did. You just forgot. lol
nope i'm gonna watch it myself to form my own opinion
