I met Owen backstage at a house show in hartford around 94-95. I was like 10 or 11yrs old. He was wicked nice to me even though he was kinda playing a heel on tv. I'll never forget it and unfortunately I'll never forget the night I was watching the ppv when he passed. My sister couldn't believe it, thought it was a storyline til we saw it on the news in the AM. RIP Owen

I watched Over the Edge and I remember when Jim said he fell and I knew from his tone that Owen was in bad shape. My boys were there too and when King sat down, I said, "Owen's dead. Let's pray for him and his family." We did. A group of teens from 18-15 who were normally tough guys trying not to cry. I couldn't enjoy the PPV. I watched it, but it was the quietest we'd ever been.

I had the same reaction. At first, i thought that it was technical difficulties, but as time wore on, Jim Ross got *really serious.* He kept saying that "This is not part of the entertainment tonight. This is as real as real can be here." That's when i knew it was a real-life situation. When i saw that Jerry Lawler had returned to the announcer table on air i knew it was bad, Jerry said somberly "it doesn't look good at all." Anyway, after the incident, the event was halted for 15 minutes, until Vince McMahon and other WWF Corporate officials decided to continue the event. Soon after Jim Ross said "Here at Kansas City, tragedy befell the World Wrestling Federation and all of us. Owen Hart was set to make an entrance from the ceiling, and he fell from the ceiling. And I have the unfortunate responsibility to let everyone know that Owen Hart has died. Owen Hart has tragically died from that accident here tonight." That's something i'll still remember for a long time.

1st off they only started with partial clips on a certain topic, a teaser. The whole session this is new, far as releasing on youtube. They just relaxed the push to get more people to the streaming site and pay sites. Why I cant answer but ive been watching these videos a few years and it used to be very rare to get a whole session free on you tube.

Unless you are "looking" for this content. Its not known. I haven't watched wrestling since the early 2000's. Heck I thought John Cena was just an actor thats how out of the loop I am with the wrestling business. Personally I only found JRs podcast because I watched a random Jim Cornette rant video and JRs channel came up as a "you might like this as well" suggestion. Since I gotten hours and hours of entertainment lisening to JR talk about wrestling from my childhood. Point is there is no real good way of marketing this type of content on TH-cam unless you are already on TH-cam for this type of content.

I loved this tribute to Owen. It was a great breakdown from JR. I thought Conrad did a great job of giving JR the proper platform to tell us what happened from his point of view. I got chills as he was describing what happened that led to Owens death. If you guys watched the Dark Side of the Ring on Owens death, it showed the part where JR said Martha was vindictive (I know she is grieving) but that was the first time she was on Camera talking about that night 22 years ago. It feels like Martha was upset that Vince wanted to finish the show. Its like Jr said you were damned if you and damned if you didnt.

I’m from the U.K. so I used to have to tape the PPVs as they used to play from 1am - 4am local time. In all the time that I was watching wrestling the only PPV that failed to record for whatever reason was that one.
I never went back to watch it, but I learned what had happened that following morning and then from seeing the goodbyes on Raw.
JR’s off the cuff remarks whilst that horrific scene was unfolding has to make him one of the best broadcasters of all time. To see his friend like that, and have the poise and composure to update the fans in that way - there are probably only a handful of people who could do that.
    Rest in Peace Owen.

The problem is EVERYONE knows that "management jargon" basically you refuse too many of their requests you get less and less work and Owen knew that. But I get why he's doing it. I stopped watching wrestling around 2006 (After Eddie's death, which was hard, but before Benoit's whole situation) but even now at 35, I hear these interviews and I am fascinated with it because wrestling was such a big part of my childhood. The nostalgia for wrestling is still very much there. Owen Hart was supposed to win the Intercontinental title from The Godfather at the Over The Edge Paper-View event back in May 23rd, 1999. I think Owen Hart had said to his wife he was afraid to do this stunt and his wife said if you are uncomfortable don't do it or something. It's in the DVD documentary "The Life and Death of Owen Hart". Bret Hart also talked about Owen Hart not wanting to do the stunt but somehow got convinced and Hart said sometimes they put pressure on wrestlers in a subtle way and he said "he was supposed to win the Intercontinental Championship title which would've have been a big boost to his career..." The interview Bret Hart gave was back in 2000 to Jim Rome.

Agreed. He had done the harness gimmick before, but using the safe mode of harness. They were using a quick release harness that night that should have never been used. Owen had a feeling that it might not be safe, which is why he didn't want to do a rehearsal earlier that day. If only he'd refused to do it that way. So what if he didn't do it, what's the worst thing that could have happened?? He gets fired. So what?? He was good enough to get another job.

There was obviously a reason why Owen didn’t want to do a rehearsal of the stunt earlier in the day or do it full stop tbh. They basically emotionally blackmailed or guilt tripped Owen into doing it. They could see that he was uncomfortable with the idea of doing it. If that’s the case then as JR said, don’t do it!! Bloody hell !! Hindsight is wonderful but I wish he would have told them to shove the stunt up their arse.

I understand most ppl become more loved when they pass on...but with Owen it was on a totally different level. EVERY fan cheered passionately. All writinh in their books etc abput how devestated they were and didnt knkw if they could do their match etc yet not ONE person refused to go out and do their match. If it was really someone u loved and cared for genuinely they wouldn't have gone out simple as that! It wasnt even as if he was hurt & they thought he was at hospital at that point but rather they KNEW he just DIED! Would JR really have continuee kn with the commmentary if his jan was in owens place, imagine she was jnvolved in the show and died ... yeah right so he would or if it was brian christopher jerry the king lawlers son he'd have continued on. Or someone wlses brother pe whater like if bret was there, he'd have left with him in the ambulence. So dont give us this bs about "owen would have wanted us to go on" it doesnt matter either way the right thing to do was to stop the show! And dont bs us with all the so devestated that i didnt know whether could go on or not. As i say if they cared that much they simply wouldn't have. Perhaps it would have been the right thing to do if the boss called the show off and we all would have gone home but he didnt do i went on with mh job. However had it been my wife or a family member or a best friend who i loved then yes i wouldn't have gone on with it, even if the boss wanted me to. Id have said no this human being is more important to me" bjt olease dont give us thua bullshit about how devestated u were and it was the hardest thing u had to do, u battled over whether to go on with it or not, u loved owen bla bla bla obviously u didn't or you would NOT have gone on. They are just trying to get themselves over as looking like they were so hurt by his death & he would have wanted them to carry on . Yeah so he would...he would want to be scraped off the mat carried out like trash, thrown away and ding ding ding on wlth the next match! Like he never existed... come on. Stop trying to cover up for your lack of conscience JR and others at the time! All the exaggerated, fake devestation now years later is just to cover up the cold, lack of empathy at the time!

When the lights came on, by the time I rolled in my normal spot to see the ring better he was already surrounded by a couple people yelling for help. Some thought it was a work but I knew something was wrong and something was badly wrong. Within seconds it seemed EMTs began working on him. I knew it wasn’t good , especially when they transported Owen out and his eyes were wide open and he was unresponsive while being worked on.

She hates wrestling and wrestling fans is trying to erase his legacy because she believes that we don't deserve to care about him or remember him, and she is trying to erase him from the wrestling world because she never respected his career and never respected his accomplishments. She wants to erase Owen Hart the wrestlers to keep his memory all to herself and to not allow him the accolades and respect he deserves due to her own grudges. She isn't the only one that lost Owen. The entire world did, but she doesn't understand that. She is a disingenuous, two-faced bloodsucker using her loss as fuel for a petty grudge, nothing more.
