I disagree. Part of Rean's personal character arc was about him learning to stop with his self sacrificing bullshit, actually place some importance on his own life and find a way to live alongside the people he cares about without his survivors guilt weighing him down. Having his story end with a self sacrificing moment would go against that whole message the narrative had been building up since Cold Steel 1. A self sacrificing ending is appropriate for a main character who starts out as a more selfish individual, but it doesn't work for someone like Rean, who already has a self sacrificing nature that is treated within the narrative as a major character flaw that the main character must overcome by the journey's end.

I feel like there was no actual development there, and the true ending feels more like there being excuses as to how Rean was able to survive instead of it being part of his character arc. Plus, it has more impact this way as well.
@@AnimeSimp234 He always took risks sure, but he did learn to rely on others more as the games went on and recognized how much he meant to other people. He would try to stay alive for their sake if nothing else. His speech in the final dungeon of Cold Steel 3 reflects this. There's also Osborne to consider as well. The guy sacrificed pretty much everything in order to give his son the opportunity to survive this ordeal and live his life. Having Rean die at the end anyway kinda makes it feel like Osborne's sacrifices were for nothing. Sure the curse was stopped, but the person Osborne wanted to save more than anyone else, his primary motivation for doing ALL of this, had to die anyway just to make it possible. Rean already paid his dues in the first three games. Continuing the "Rean exists to suffer" plotline right into the ending of the final game in the saga would feel incredibly mean spirited to me.

This not a normal ending guys. This is a bad ending from legend of heroes trails of cold steel. What the hell are you writing that a normal ending in this video.
I think you're misinterpreting the meaning of normal. This, is the first ending you get no matter what you do in the game, hence normal. Afterwards, as long as you did the extra boss fight to unlock it, you will then get the TRUE ending which you unlock by getting this ending. No need to nitpick semantics because they used NORMAL/TRUE for the ending titles instead of BAD/GOOD.
This is the normal ending, and normal ending means you will get this one no matter what. There's no bad nor good ending in Sen 4. There's only Normal, and True Ending by continuing from Normal Ending
