How about the lock-up? The old Pythons’ mechanism was made so that there was no play concerning the cylinder when the trigger was pulled; meaning the very moment that the trigger would be pressed all the way and the gun would fire. This was a strength considering it’s accuracy, but a weakness when it came to longevity. I know that they’ve reduced the number of trigger mechanism parts by 14 compared to the old ones and I’m more than curious if there’s some play in the cylinder like we’re used to seeing in just about every mass produced revolvers.

Picked mine up yesterday. Heard some stories of idiots paying 2000+ for some of these. Got mine for 1500$. They aren’t as hard to find as people keep saying. Most the shops around my area get 1-3 a week.
That's a very beautiful revolver. I'm still doing my homework on buying a new Colt or Smith, I'm not sure which one to favor. I did however purchase a Kimber K6 Target modal an really like it quit a bit. I will check out your comparison review old vs new Python video. Great content.

Honestly, I've been continually provoked at Colt ever since they started making revolvers again. I'm an older man and I vividly remember what they once were. Right now, it still looks like they haven't redeemed themselves. I have a couple of Kimber revolvers that I'm crazy about, I can't wait for the four inch version.

hey i have the 4.25” version bought in 2022, was just wondering if you had any issues with accuracy and the sights. It looks like the rear sight on mine is super wobbly and the elevation was cranked down. also my front sight seems crooked. when i benched it, it shot 3 groups of 2 VERY low and the groups were separate but each group had a tight group of 2, sub1”. shooting it normally, the gun felt like i used a buck shot 50 yards away; all over the place. any thoughts???

Old Python vs. the new Python will probably like the pre-'64 Winchesters vs to post-'64 Winchesters. Both tried to save money in the manufacturing process and even if some things are better, my guess is that the new ones will not be as treasured as the old ones.

This prevents the cylinder rachet from laterally striking the crane lock plate which, over time, can wear down the spurs on the rachet.
Saw one at the local fun store. They have it with their rental guns. First impression was, wow ! Beautiful gun. I went back yesterday, and was told someone broke it. Apparently slamming the cylinder closed. F'ed up the timing. They have to send it back to Colt. I know you shouldn't do that to a revolver, but,...... I have done that myself to my GP100 Ruger. Have owned it since 1993. No problems what so ever. I would think for $1500, it would be a little tougher.

I'm not impressed with the Cobra for two reasons, the caliber and the weight.If I was going to carry a revolver it would be a S&W MODEL 1917 or it's later commercial models. It's very light for it's caliber, you have full moon clips available. I've talked to enough Vets over the years to know if U shoot somebody with a .45 ACP, chances are they're going down. A good 1917 Smith can be had for 6-8 hundred dollars. Is the Cobra a beautiful gun? Yes, of course. If U have the money and like the caliber, by all means, go for it. My home defense gun is a Mossberg pump loaded with 3" OO buckshot.

Sounds like the made it into a GP-100, cut the quality control and tripled the price. All you have to do to see what happens when you remove all those parts is to look at a Colt revolver of the MKIII series.
@@GoldenWebb So that answers the question. Remove the grips. Does it have a V spring for a main spring or a coil spring? The old Python had a V spring, the MKIII change used a coil spring and a transfer bar safety. Does the new on have a transfer bar (between the hammer face and firing pin?)
New pythons are junk. I bought one and sent it back to colt for repair. I received back in less than a week with no work done on it. I even sent detailed notes on the issues and they could care less to fix it. Can’t wait for CZ to fire some of those lazy slobs and replace them with workers who actually care.
$1500 msrp for this modern junk. Would take that money & buy an original from one of the internet auction sites. Hell, maybe even less. Just gotta know what you're doing, which the modern choad doesn't. So enjoy your modern productions.

How’s the trigger compared to the old one? I might have missed in video because wife sleeping and volume low.
I just picked mine up yesterday. The trigger is amazing. Both double action and single action are so much smoother than my 65 model.

Yep the rear sight comes loose very easily. If it wasn’t for my first one being the 283rd one made I’d already have sold it
