      So true...in 2016 I stop taking effexor and feel very bad. A couple day later a go to the hospital and they keep me at psych. They give me prozac, olanzapine and clonazepam. I got a really bad reaction and I never been the same since that day. I'm now 1 year and half clean from all this shit but its was pure hell to quit. Even now i'm not feel fine. All these years wasted cause of these drugs.

    Amazing story. Wow. Thank you for serving our country. Congratulations on 4 years off benzos. You are a true warrior. I'm so sorry you have suffered so much. You are in my prayers. I'm 2 years off klonopin. lexapro and trazadone. I was kindled and on and off psych meds for almost 20 years. This has been brutal but I'm doing much better. I'm 54 and healing has been slow but steady. I still struggle with fatigue, psoriasis, sleep issues and peripheral neuropathy all due to benzo withdrawal. God bless you.

    I love how you own your recovery and progress, it was especially uplifting to listen to you describe how *YOU* choose to describe things, choosing your own language in doing so is such an empowering tool. Some might say that "damage", as opposed to "withdrawal", is merely semantics. ......... there are so many reasons why that simply isn't true and you named a few yourself.
    I'm not a woman, not a soldier & have never been under fire .....I am however in awe of you & your journey.
    As one who has both walked the multi-pharma consumer path & also works in medical/healthcare, the difficulties determining what is physiological & what is drug side-effect is ubiquitous, patient or practitioner. Multimorbidity is difficult enough to try and tease apart in an attempt to discover each individual's unique set of component conditions; throw the phenomena of polypharmacy in the mix and the task passes from possible to VERY VERY unlikely. Throw in a smidge of professional bias (every health care professional on the planet has some, they wouldn't be human without it), add some misunderstanding by family, friends, health professionals, some confirmation bias and it has now become 100% impossible to differentiate side effect from physiological irregularity & diagnosable condition.
    Basically, without the resolve and determination that you've demonstrated, many people are simply doomed to more of the same. The good thing, though that seems a bad choice of words, is that none of us need be a genius, or super motivated to start the journey ..... in my experience, they all start from the same point ........... overwhelming desperation & pain ..... way beyond what can possibly be conveyed in these here words.
    As for people trying to compare and saying "I suffered more than you" or "You can't be that bad if you're able to drive" blah blah blah ENOUGH ALREADY ........ Jesus H .... like the journey ain't tough enough and the odds are stacked against us enough already, we got a turn on ourselves now ... REALLY!?!?!?!?! Each other is all we got here ... take a breath and show some love. I only know my own experience, there is no possible way I can know yours or anyone else's, not unless I have walked EVERY SINGLE step they have. My experience might be similar to some, but NEVER the same.
    Rock on my sister ....... you are a freaking inspiration and MUCH LOVE to you!!!

    Hi Healingfrom benzos. Thank you so much for inspiring us all, and for holding the torch of hope for a community that goes through a lot of suffering. I was poly drugged with Lexapro, Ambien (tapered off now) and still tapering off Ativan. I have followed your videos and and follow the DR D podcasts. I also experience many of the same symptoms you describe in this video, and not sure which is worse, the loud tinnitus, this internal akathesia and feeling you at the edge of a cliff all the time, but the visual issue with 24/7 DP/DR, where the brain cannot process too much visual input at once throws me completely. Even though I have been through military & war, and a passed outdoor/nature enthusiast, I struggle to go outdoors now (like just outside my home), as feel too disorientated and get over anxious. Its firstly too bright when its a sunny day or too dark when cloudy, and like there too much information (area) for the brain to process the ""big picture"". I cannot drive far neither now, as traffic and physical motion all happens to fast for my brain to analyse which makes me anxious.. My vision also went very blurry, and it feels like a huge pressure behind my eyes all the time.I just wanted to know what coping mechanisms you use to get through the visual issues and DP/DR?

  • @laceybretthauer1039

    Hey I wanted to chime in and say I have the exact same vision issues! I am only 8 months off klonopin. I have had a lot of slow healing done over time. Healingfrom Benzos , do you have issues also with lights? Since the beginning, when lights or any brightness hits my vision I keep seeing that light imprint in my visual field. I reminds me of when someone takes a picture with flash and you see the flash. I have this all the time with regular lights, it is like it has imprinted on my retina. Makes it very difficult to see at night.

    • @AngiePeacockMSW
      @AngiePeacockMSW  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stephanieott9056 yes I sure do but mine usually goes away in a few seconds. Also, I get a white circle that just appears randomly then goes away several times a day. Seems to be top right of my vision. It looks like when you see a camera flash and then look away and still see it except I don't have to look at any lights at all, it just appears and then goes away.

    You are my new hero. I’m an addict, and have detoxed from just about everything you can think of. I was trying to come off Suboxone (a second time) last fall. The doctor prescribed me Klonopin for the brutal anxiety. It was the only thing that really helped. I took it on and off throughout my taper. I came off Suboxone successfully back in 2012, and as brutal as it was, in no way did it feel as nearly dark as how I’m feeling now. My last dose of Klonipin was about 2 weeks ago. My brain didn’t even establish reality for a whole week. Throughout ANYTHING I’ve ever been addicted to, this darkness is on a whole new level. Unlike you, this is largely my own fault though. I just thought somehow I would be different, and I wouldn’t get withdrawal. So now, I’m still stuck on Suboxone, because I cannot afford for anything to get darker in my head. I used to think that the depression and anxiety from Suboxone withdrawal was the worst thing someone could feel, but I was so wrong. This is the absolute worst thing I’ve ever felt in my 38 years of being alive. I made up my mind to NEVER touch another drug again. When I do finally come off Suboxone, I’m not going to use Benzos. I have no idea how long this will take, but I don’t know how people get the strength to push through it. It’s debilitating. I thought I would be OK just taking them for a week or two than stop, so I didn’t get a dependency. Nope. Every time I stop and start, it gets worse. I wasn’t even aware that it was the Klonipin that was doing it at first. I thought it was my Suboxone taper, but nope. I’m NEVER doing this to myself again. Ever.

Anxiety and panic attacks have gotten better. I’ve tried to find a lawyer who would take this case and sue the doctors and pharmaceutical companies for damage. But I haven’t been able to find one. My brother is 62 and has been on various drugs for 11 years starting with hydrocodone for severe headaches that he suffered from when he had an accident at his auto shop and injected fuel. He lost his wealth and family due to a divorce that he was unable to defend. I’ve saved his life so far having cooked food and doing hot external ginger compresses on his kidneys. You must be feeling better being off the poisonous drugs. In your case, I think the government is responsible for taking care of your financial and living necessities. They owe it to you.

    I'm so sorry for what has happened to you. I pray for continue healing for you.
    In 4 years I was switched many many times on different meds, AD.'s, benzos, z drugs, like 19 different times. Sometimes trying the same med 2-3 times. I was cold turkey from all the meds, I was also kindled so many times. I did not know any of this until I started researching wondering why I was feeling worse and experiencing all these different symptoms. I had to research on my own because nobody believed me and my Dr would tell me it's me not the meds. Even though I didn't have any of these issues before meds.
    I wanted to ask you if you still have symptoms for a long time, (like 3 years) does that mean you are permanently damaged and those symptoms won't go away? I have symptoms that come and go and then I have symptoms that are here everyday like head issues, eye pressure, vision issues, inner vibrating/shaking, body pain, jaw tightness, muscle tension/tightness and some others.
    Looking for hope but also honesty.

      I admire your tenacity and would really appreciate your opinion on something: I go really hard physically and mentally, I can work out and study for hrs...but socially I don't really push myself at all. Mainly for 2 reasons. 1. I don't have a car and in the middle of nowhere and 2.because every time I do I panic and I go back to thinking "well if time is going to heal me anyway then why the fuck would I make the time harder by forcing myself to be all panicky?"...which I'm conflicted because I've always been taught to embrace fear and pain in order to grow..but I don't feel like I'm growing from social situations, I feel like I'm just torturing myself and then get bitter about it. What are your thoughts?

Why I was in the hospital, I was placed back on clonazepam. Symptoms I can’t handle anything that causes the least amount of stress. I can not be on the phone for more than a minute. My brain was damaged, yet I look normal on the outside. I’m not able to work. The fatigue is tremendous! I have severe fatigue. I also have to lay down most of the time to get relief. Going anywhere for entertainment I just say I don't want to go, but the truth be known as I shut the door I break down crying. When I started watching your other channel I was convinced you were healed. I cant believe you are still going through this although I hear it is not uncommon. The mental symptoms are the worst I feel. Can you please do an update on what mental symptoms you are dealing with and do you feel like yourself now? Did you find the joy that we are all missing still, that desire that makes you want to get up everyday. Is the apathy gone? Would love to know. You are amazing!!!!!!! and inspiring

      Monica Bennett I act as normal as I can but no I don’t feel good, never. My feelings are still pretty gone. I know how to act happy or excited but inside I feel nothing. I don’t even remember what it’s like to feel good. I’ll make another video soon.

      @@AngiePeacockMSW we are so similar. People think because I kept working that I'm not as bad off. They have no idea how I have to push through everyday, secretly freaking out and not showing it. Having panic attacks out in the parking lot or in the employee bathroom. I can't stay home either, can't sit still, can't ever relax, never calm, never feel right, total apathy. Totally don't feel like myself and can't even remember what "normal" feels like. Even when I'm in a so called window im always waiting for the other shoe to drop and withdrawl is ALWAYS on the back of my mind. The real messed up part of this was I was only on .75 Xanax for 5 months given to me by my idiot gastro for stomach issues. Pulled me off cold turkey. I had never taken meds before that. 28 months in protracted, still can't believe it. I too was one of the unlucky ones. Just like you I get my hope from others that are farther along that have healed or still healing. I just had to reach out cuz I our withdrawl is so similar, minus the vision issues I had it all. Look forward to your next video, thank you for all you do!

      @@AngiePeacockMSW hope you are doing good. Another horrible Holiday for those of us still struggling. Can i please ask you what mental symptoms if any you still have. When you said in your last video it took you longer for your psychological symptoms to go away and you were worried cuz it happened soon we for others is how I feel now. They are the worst in this. Also do you still get adrenaline/cortisol surges? Thank you for replying. Hope you and Joe are having a good holiday in the road

      Monica Bennett mental left now is still dr dp but it’s not nearly as bad as other times. I have a lot of weird existential type thoughts but the suicidal and other scary thoughts that are too taboo to write on TH-cam mostly left around month 28. I might still get them randomly but they are REALLY REALLY MILD and really I shouldn’t even mention it because they are super rare and super mild. Hmmm what else mental: I have cog fog all the time and mostly it feels like someone hit me over the head. I feel stupid and slow and like I can’t think straight. Also, it’s hard to organize my thoughts or read or concentrate or plan things. Anything that takes multiple steps, I have to ask people to help me because I just can’t do it.

    Hi hon, hope you are well
    From your experience did you have an over dose ? Dose overdose effect body or brain ?
    Dose it mean it take longer to recover? Or it makes no difference
    I was over dosed wi Ativan 1 mg and had to stop immediately
    Dose that effect recovery? Did you taper or just stoped?

    • @AngiePeacockMSW
      @AngiePeacockMSW  ปีที่แล้ว

      Overdose can give you more of an issue, sure but normal dose can be severe too. The important thing is to taper safely if possible and give your body and brain time to heal. People do heal from overdoses, too!

      @@eimankibaida-ye8mj I don't think anyone has an answer to that. I do know that it is extremely difficult to overdose and die from benzos. I would assume once your receptors are all full the rest of the drug would just be in your system but not attached to receptors. Focus on healing, not on the fear.

    What do you suggest to eat if you're living in poverty? Any advice would be great!

      Carrie Johnson farmers markets, chicken thighs, sardines, tuna, oatmeal, as many vegetables as possible. Eggs are cheap and super good for you. When you buy bulk food it’s cheaper, even food pantries can be a good source for in season fruits and veggies. Just eat less of the bad stuff too! Less sugar, less bread, less soda, less unhealthy fats. Here’s a good list to try to shop from: www.eatingwell.com/article/291245/complete-keto-diet-food-list-what-you-can-and-cannot-eat-if-youre-on-a-ketogenic-diet/
