    Dual 12’s in each enclosure. Now we are talking! I REALLY wish I would have documented my entire theater build via video instead of just photos in my AVS build thread. You are creating incredibly valuable videos for DIY enthusiasts. Keep up the great work my friend

      Thank you! I'll email you in a bit, but definitely send me your thread link so I can check it out! I stopped taking photos after I had a few car stereo build threads become useless after the photo server started charging to link pictures in threads. Can't wait to get these going! Starting tomorrow on the cabinets. Finally able to after the holidays and finishing up a few little projects that were lingering

    The speakers you selected for your home theater entertainment system is perfect, I noticed that the speaker drivers were (Eminence), I installed them into my large three way club speaker cabinets, each speaker cabinet contains dual 15" woofers which I also replaced the original crossover (8 Ohms), and installed a (4 Ohms) crossover to provide more power to the woofers. I would love to hear a sound demo of your system once you complete the build, this was a very entertaining tutorial video on your DIY project...

      Life of Bliss; I appreciate your quick response, and I am looking forward to hear how awesome your system will sound! I am pretty much a retired DJ, but I maintain my system now as a hobby and try not to annoy my wife and neighbors, thanks for noticing!! :-)

    Hi, great work & help to others filming, editing and putting on the videos.
    One remark: if you measure within such room,the measurements don't reflect the speakers properties = you can throw the measurements away. If you want to really measure the speakers alone, prepare the environment in the way it doesn't influnce the results/ influence the results at minimum. (Either acoust. muted room OR open space/outside )

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I agree. These speakers have been measured by the creators and posted in AVS Forum. I'm measuring for performance in my room

    is that a real knife!!!
    Wow finnaly someone that does an unboxing with a proper knife
    I litterly liked your vid for that reason btw
    Also, i know that feeling when you unbox expensive equipment and it sucks. But with diy, you pick superior parts, good enclosures that are BIG and have proper build quality, that eventually leads to a much better product for like a quarter of a comparable speaker price.
    hope these work good for you!

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I have a few good knives laying around, might as well put them to good use! I just got the boxes built last week. Waiting for warmer weather to paint, but they are massive lol. Towers are 70 pounds before adding the drivers!

    Amazing speakers, exactly what I would want to have. I just have few questions though, how much power we need to drive this speaker when put together? I have a Yamaha receiver which puts put 90 watts per channel at 8ohms. Would that be very less for this speaker? Also what will be the net impedance of this speaker when finished? Thanks in advance.

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are 8 ohm speakers. They are super sensitive, 99 db @ 2.83v, or essentially 1w of power. A receiver should power these just fine outside of going up to extremely loud volumes.

      I am going to demo the 1099s a buddy made this weekend. I'll report back, but I know they'll be great! I am so excited to get these going as well. Was planning on starting then by now but with the holidays and traveling to see family (plus a few other projects needing to be finished up) I've had to hold off a little longer. I'm busting these out after the new year though! I have not heard of Khanspire, but after looking up a few pics, those look like they would be awesome!

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brookemartinez9108 it was great! The 1099s are very detailed. Like little things that you probably wouldn't notice (shells hitting the ground after being shot for example) was easily heard and able to be picked out where it was coming from in the sound stage. And speaking of sound stage, it was very impressive. Sounds flowed much nicer from the center to L/R. I felt it gave better definition of where sounds were coming from as they transitioned across the sound stage. Makes me very excited to get these done!

    • @DearSX
      @DearSX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe I will make a review bid in the future.
      Connected the LS50 and Volt 6 to a Blue sound node system and 12 inch sub in a very large room. Volt sounded a bit better. Very dynamic. Put them both on a bookshelf near a wall with Kef port plugged up. Volt sounded better. Kef has a lot more bass, but too much next to a wall. Kairos sound more relaxed and natural then Kef and easier to setup. Volt has a wider sound stage than both and is easy to setup. Volt is very efficient. Kairos has more resolution but the bass helps a lot. Volt with good sub is a great system, but have not compared it directly with Kairos as it was a borrowed sub.

    How much power did you run to the Polk's? To get the sound you want out of them its recommended by a lot of Audiophiles that you need to run at least 200 watts plus to each one.

    FTR, the heavy "tweeters" i suspect are actually Compression Drivers's.
    In the discontinued Fusion 15's, the CD's weighed more than the 15" "neo" woofer in the kit.

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mike. There are some really awesome DIY kits on the DIY sound group website. I would say if you are looking for a project and enjoy a little woodworking, go for it! Depending on what you are looking for, there are kits for small bookshelf speakers, 6 foot tall cabinets with dual 18 inch drivers, and everything in between. Just depends on what you want. I really enjoy building speakers, so I don't think I'll ever buy manufactured ones again for my main listening areas. You get excellent sound for the money.

    Im not hating or anything, im impressed, however, the drivers look like really cheap paper cone speakers?

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Neil. Yea I get that. There are much better looking speakers out there with diamond sprinkles and gold flake baked in 😉 The drivers are from Eminence Audio which is a popular pro audio speaker manufacturer. They are made in Kentucky here in the US. Main thing is they sounds good! And they are tougher than they look. Pretty solid, no flex when you push in on the cone. I will say I like the look of my Hi Vi speakers a bit more with their bronze color, but the Eminence speakers have a lot less reflections with the projector in my HT area. I'll have the final product video out in the next few days once I get over this cough I have. Can't talk for the video! lol Here's a link to the driver if you were interested www.eminence.com/speakers/speaker-detail/?model=Delta_12B

    I am not a hater by any means. I assume that you ruined your project. I was cooking and watching this video at the same time, but thought that you cut holes in the inner walls of the speaker????? Now you have 1 large chamber instead of 3? Each "woofer" certainly needed its own chamber, and if required, port or slot depending on design. As I saw the video end, the midranges now share the same box and have no chance of performing..... If I am wrong forgive the negative comment. Still enjoyed the video, you have a great shop and pay a lot of attention to detail. Was VERY excited to see the 1099's as I LOVE concentric drivers, like Tannoy's and these would be great in my garage.

    • @jamescanning1364
      @jamescanning1364 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, meant the Volt 10's

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I ruined it 😉 the original designer of the speaker system made both a ported and sealed configuration of the baffle before only going to the sealed version. It is unnecessary to make separate chambers as the mids are a sealed back design and are not sharing any of the airspace (as is the compression driver). It was designed as an open area, so I kept it that way and modified the baffle for my personal tastes and ported the towers to get better bass response if I wanted to listen to 2 channel vs home theater. Everything has turned out great, I'll have a finished product video up soon. Thanks man

    When ready are these speakers powerful enough for the xpa dr3?

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These speakers will handle 600+ watts. Dr3 is about 450 per channel, so technically the amp would give out before the speakers. Or start clipping the amp. But you're talking insane spl indoors if you're hitting 400+ watts. I bet they really never see much past 100w with how efficient they are

    Now, after i saw the whole video, you own me lol... 6x 12" , and a 10" Coax Driver, that`s what i call a proper Deal !! Congratulation for your Decision. Even the Horndriver is amazing.
    Just a Tipp: Use aditional reinforcement for the Cabinets! Bracing, like in big JBL - Monitors! it makes a lot of Difference when the Cabinet is rocksolid! ;-)
    Bytheway, 45,- Bucks for the Frequency Network? For both of them? Or for one ? When it goes to the crossovers, i had a lot of try and error with them, and at least i use two Crossovers for each Box, and power them by bi-amping. (Actually normal for big JBL`s). But i spent more than 45,- USD for 1 Monitor...I think your price is hothothot!

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha thanks man, I'm looking forward to getting them in the space! Finally got some other projects done around the house and getting started on them this week. Replaced my table saw blade and got it all aligned today actually, so hoping to get them done by this next weekend (built, not finished/painted yet). But yes, definitely adding bracing. Ended up deciding on a ported configuration for the L/R channel as well that should look pretty good.
      The crossover boards were included in the price for the Volt 10 surrounds. The (3) boards for the 1299s were an extra $45 shipped. This was just for the board so I didn't have to make one. All of the components for the crossover network were included with the 1299 purchase. I have a video on assembling those as well. Soooo much easier with the board than without! Took me quite a bit of time making the crossovers for the DIY Swope towers without boards.

      Maybe a pair of JBL Olympus in Two way... And i think i can build 3 Pairs of Bookshelf Speakers or maybe surrounds...

    Hm... the Polks must be very poor sounding, if they are overwhelmed by some DIY Boxes with "Toy-"Woofers" inside. lol. everything smaller than 12" is a Midrange Speaker ;-). I do not think that your DIY`s go down to flat 40Hz. For proper 40Hz, you`ll need minimum 8" Drivers.... But you said it in the Rewiew: The Midrange of the DIY`s were blowing the Polks out of the Water. My JBL 4341 mini - Clones ( i built them a bit smaller than the originals, but they are still huge as a refrigator ^^) have 12" Bass Drivers and 8" mid Bass Drivers (instead of a 15" and a 10") .
    And they go down lowlowlow... But they are actually not as light and small as the Polks!

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bernhard. The Polks were excellent speakers. I really enjoyed having them and seeing how something like that stacked up to a similar DIY setup. When comparing them to the Swope towers, I was able to find shortcomings in each. I don't think I ever mentioned my diy speakers ever being flat to 40 Hz (I usually cross over my mains at 80 Hz for movies anyways). In fact, I mentioned the Polk speakers had much more bottom end than my diy's. By midrange blowing them out of the water, I was speaking more about clarity and detail. It's not that the Polk's didn't have any "omph" in the midrange, because the did. I just felt the detail and presence was better presented in the diy speakers (electric/acoustic guitar, male voices, that sort of thing). And going back to your comment on the Polk's being overwhelmed by the diy's... Again it wasn't that they were somehow out-powered or not as loud in any area. I just noticed more detail/clarity with music and voices in the diy's. As far as the low bass, I'm using a subwofer 99% of the time which will take care of anything below 80Hz, though I did listen to these with and without a sub to get a better idea of how each sounded. This was my first review of speakers where I actually put my opinions out for others. It was a learning experience and I will be able to better express my opinions in future reviews like this. Hopefully that helps with understanding more of where I was coming from! Let me know if you have any other thoughts about it.

      @@LifeofBliss OK, i forgot to mention "compared to", and i understand what you wanted to say about the Polks. But, i think that the Polk`s Drivers are undersized for the Purpose. The Polks look massive, but have Toy-Drivers built in... It`s just like a Thunderbird with the Tires of a prius ;-). I am a fan of the big 43XX JBL`s, so you see where i come from lol... ;-)
      And, i am convinced, that your Home-Theater project will overwhelme both. The Swope and the Polks. Powerwise as well as soundwise!

      Haha yea I hear ya... I'm finding out more and more that larger drivers will have a much more natural sound. Hence the new setup coming!! And you are right, those JBL's are a small refrigerator!

      Have you seen the 7" scan speak illuminators. I'm sure those run flat well below 40 but are expensive. I love mine though.
