    I would NOT live there without one! I’d make monthly payments for years, but I’d sure have one.
    You not need a $20,000 one, just big enough for your family and animals to be safe for a few minutes. I’m happy you can buy one at Home Depot’s!

    I didn’t see footage of it surviving an EF 5.

    There hasn't been an EF-5 since 2013.

      damage/wind speed wise there have been many, its stupid they refuse to rate them as ef5 anymore. quad state definitely was ef5

      Yes the Mayfield tornado should have been a EF5 in my opinion. Nevertheless, even EF4s and even EF3s can cause extreme damage. I mean look at the Andover Kansas tornado that was an EF3 only a year and a half ago. Living only about an hour away from there, drove down to help clean up and there were so many homes destroyed and people injured. This product isn’t just for those rare moments, it’s also for those precaution moments when you’re not sure.

    Make sure you get a modified 70's old-school carjacks to push the door open in case something gets lodged against the door.

    The metal used is only 3/16ths thick. New Day shelter pods are 3/8ths thick. And the bolts are 1/2” driven 3” into the concrete floor. And the bolts are on the inside rather than the outside.

    I'd like to see this above ground pod up against a 2x4 cannon and see the results

    Better than none at all, but I'd rather have something below grade like mine. There's just something about these that says "bs" to me. Could you imagine being in one of those when there's a truck flung at it.

      so far we haven't had one of our shelters fail in a tornado event

      You and your team, should go out and check out your shelters after a EF4 plus that would be cool to see...I see some pictures on google of the shelters still standing.. that’s the best advertising by far 👍

    I'd like to know who installed their Twister pod model. I know she said she went and looked at it at Home Depot, but did they install it or did she have someone else come install it? I don't mind buying it from Home Depot, but not sure I trust them to install it properly.

      We did the install with our own team

    Typical bait and switch advertising nobody would watch the video of them just advertising so had to put in tag line “ survives EF5” to get people to watch it and they make money off of this video! I’m getting tired of TH-cam allowing this on videos came across plenty of videos that weren’t what the title was!!!

    So this looks like an above ground shelter? Some places, like city lots, don't have a practical place for a shelter if there are mature trees & power lines, so in the garage floor is the only choice.

    • @survive-a-storm
      @survive-a-storm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a set of underground models as options as well: survive-a-storm.com/residential-storm-shelters/below-ground/
      Additionally our panelized shelters can be fit into tight interior spaces like closets and bedrooms.

    There is NO WAY in heck I'd trust a tin can bolted to a concrete slab with my life. Especially when there have been tornadoes that have lifted whole concrete slabs and moved them several feet. I'll take a concrete and/or steel box in the ground, thank you.

    • @survive-a-storm
      @survive-a-storm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      we use RedHead Anchor Bolts to mount the Twister Pod to the concrete. This means there is 4600 lbs of pressure per bolt, and there are 12 bolts! That’s 55,200 pounds of pressure that keeps that unit securely in place, we haven't seen any of our shelters moved off a slab even in EF5 events.
      We require a concrete slab, You have three different options. You can do 8' x8' slab at 4" thick. a 7'x7' slab at 6" thick with 2" of the slab buried below the ground. Or a 5'x5' slab at 24" thick with 20" of slab buried below the ground. The concrete just has to be 3000 PSI.

      @@survive-a-storm that's a great sales pitch and all. But I'm still gonna stick with the old fashioned hole in the ground. If there's one thing I know for SURE about tornadoes. It's that they're unpredictable and capable of things FAR worse than we could imagine and as long as you're below ground. You're safe... I've SEEN tornadoes throw sticks through concrete. I've also seen a tornado move a whole hospital building 4 inches off its slab... Even IF your pod IS safely mounted and WON'T budge. There's no telling what could penetrate through its walls. Or what huge thing could be thrown at it, crushing it, with you inside... With climate change and its affect on weather as well as some of the ridiculously powerful tornadoes we've already seen here somewhat recently. I wouldn't be surprised if some day, we gotta add a level or 2 to the Fujita scale
