guys 😭 it's okay to call him woozi, that's how he introduces himself in English anw, just check out some english interviews so you'll know how each member say their names. even the members say it like woozy most of the time I feel. the pronunciation in these vids is based on Korean pronunciation, it kinda sounds like uji 3:42 call him uji/woozi, wtv you want. btw, woozi is a nickname that came from the pledis staff + bumzu in the past iirc? cmiiw carats. his real name is lee jihoon, the staffs tend to call him "uri jihoon/jihoonie" = our jihoon. uri jihoon -> uji -> woozi. it got combined & shortened. I think he explained this in knowing bros/smth (ep. 252)

its okay to call woozi with a 'z'. its just because the korean alphabet doesnt have a 'z' and uses the sound 'j' (ㅈ) instead. same goes for wonwoo. pronouncing the 'w' sound is fine. its just the korean pronounciation that makes the difference.
Kind of Intersting cuz it’s really non korean point of view lol It's true that Koreans doesn't have a z alphabet, but actually Woozi's name is derived from the first letter of ‘our jihoon(우리 지훈이)’ so in this case, his company chose z in the process of changing it to English even though it was originally j(지).
@@xX-um4qv yes, youre right about the history of his name where they take '우' and '지' fro '우리 지훈이' which equals to 우지. its just hard to explain in a non-hangul way to people who dont understand hangul yet. some people just think its wooji cuz they learnt the hangul. but woozi is not wrong either. same goes for (ㄹ), it can be L or R and (ㅍ), it can be P or F.

Woozi’s name comes from an affectionate nickname he was called by the company staff as a trainee which translates to “our jihoonie”.
When it’s romanized in Korean it’s “uri jihoonie” then take the first syllable of each word -> “uji” -> another way to write that is “woozi”. The “z” sound is pronounced like “j” in Korean and “woo” is pronounced as “u” or “oo”. Like how WonWOO is (wonu) and WOOyoung is (ooyoung).

After rewatching Seventeen unit’s band debuting at 2016 KBS Song Festival with Joshua playing the Electric Guitar, Jeonghan playing the Bass, Woozi playing Drums, and Seungkwan playing the Keyboard and SEVENTEEN’s 97 Line DK, The8, and Mingyu as the Majn Vocals. The versatility the Vocal unit and the entire Seventeen members have I love Seventeen so much and me waiting Seventeen Vocal Unit’s band to perform again.
