Frustrated with genealogy PDF downloads that aren't a fillable worksheet? You've tried the workaround of adding it to another app but trying to line up floating text boxes is messy. And sooo time-consuming.
If only there was another way…
Great news, there is. And it's something you are going to want to add to your genealogy toolkit. It's a timesaver and won't cost you a cent (unless you want it to).

Fantastic! I could have used this in my office job for 11 years. Now, I get to use this in my genealogy work. Thank you. Well done video!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for pointing out this great functionality on the free version of Acrobat Reader. As an IT trainer myself, this has reminded me that taking the time to learn what the tools you use can actually do can save much more time than you spend learning. Many of my saved pdfs are now much more useable.
Glad it was helpful!
WOW! Didn't know this existed! Thank you for demonstrating how to make a form fillable. I need to see and feel to learn and your video did exactly that; thank you!
You are so welcome!
Wow, SO glad to know this!! (And good job on the video!)
Thank you!
I've used Adobe Professional for years but did not know about this feature in Adobe Reader. As always, this little tutorial is spot on! Thanks!
Great to hear! Acrobat Professional can do the same thing, and so much more. But it's awesome to see how much you can do it Reader.
I love this. I am so pleased that you decided to start a channel. I am excited to learn from you on this platform.
Thank you so much!
Wow! This feature is half the reason I pay for a Pro subscription. I’ve been using Adobe products for 2 decades & had no clue Reader could do this. I thought it was a Pro only feature, but I’m usually creating forms from the create form feature not the fill & sign tool. This is so good to know.
Totally agree!
This is awesome! I've always been frustrated with unfillable forms. Now I know how to make them fillable. Thank you!!!
You are so welcome! Happy to share!
Thank you for sharing this tip. I didn't know Reader could do this! Everything seems to be so much easier to learn on a TH-cam video. You did a great job on your first video! I recommend adding an opening still or video sequence to your future videos (to act like a buffer) so that the instruction doesn't start the moment you click start. I found myself going back to the beginning to make sure that I didn't miss something. Best of luck to you as a TH-camr! :-D Mary.
Thanks for the feedback, Mary.
Thank you for pointing that out! I will be looking forward to your next video!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
OMG - thank you. Why didn't I know this before?? Will definitely be using this - A LOT!!
You're so welcome!
Thank you so much! Wow! All this time! Love it!
You are so welcome!
Brilliant! I've been using the comment feature, but you have to line up the text yourself. Thank you so much for this!
You're welcome!
Thank you super simple and helpful
Glad it helped!

You're welcome!
fantastic! I can foresee doing this a lot
It's such a time saver!
I'm familiar with/been using Adobe Reader and Pro, but I wanted to see how you present. I think it's great! You're brief, it's simple - an easy to follow demo.
Thank you!
This is brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing 😊
You are welcome, I'm glad it was helpful.
Wow! Thank you so much. My husband told me you can do this with MS Edge as well. He didn't know about this though. I learned so much. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful
Hi Prudence! I'm glad you have turned the worksheet into a fillable form! I need to redownload it. It has been a great tool for me. I've used the fill and sign feature on Adobe Acrobat Reader at my work, but "duh" didn't think about using it to make a non-fillable form "fillable". Thanks for the tip!
Thank you! I hope it's a tip you can put to good use in the future.
Thank you for showing us this function. G'day 😇
Hope it saves you time!
Thank you for the info! This is an awesome tool and I will be using it a lot ... now that I know how!

I have been looking to find a way to fill out pdf forms. It was there all along. Thanks
Glad I could help!
where did you get the form on family search? a blank form
If you google 'Family Search Genealogy Research Forms' then you'll get a link to the library
Hi Prudence: I just downloaded Acrobat reader and very easily managed to fill in some information on an eight generation family chart. Thank you for this tip, it works great.
I am assuming though if I wanted to print names in another direction, it isn't available on this version
I think you would need Acrobat Professional and the 'edit ' functionality to rotate text boxes.
@@thecreativefamilyhistorian Thank you for your reply Prudence. What I discovered later in the evening, was that if you completely close Acrobat and then reopen your file, the rotate option is there to use. I did manage to print my 8 generation family chart with the free trial version of Acrobat. Thank you so much for sharing.
@@lindapower4122 Thanks for sharing that fabulous tip. I hadn't thought of that.
Will this work with EasyGeanie Forms?
If it's an unlocked PDF form then it will absolutely work. I have tested it with a locked/secured PDF but it's worth giving it a go.
