My mom use to make a fish stew too. I am Sicilian desent. I was born in 1952. I am older than my husband. I got married at 28 . My son came 2 weeks early. Got pregnant on my honeymoon. Loved your story. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
That was pure joy! 1978 I gave my hubby directions in a hospital. First date (sick of dating) my “goals” came up. I said I wanted to be a wife and mother. I wanted to stay home and raise my own kids, cook, bake and sew. It took at lot of guts and I just thought I’ll watch him run. He asked me to marry him right then. He’d been looking for a freak like me. Two years later married, that was over 40 years ago. Can’t believe women bought the lie that working for strangers was somehow more noble and fulfilling. Thanks you for that heartfelt message. So much love.

Your story has me in tears. I’m in a transtition in my life. Mom died in October of Alzheimer’s at age 92. For 20 years, it was just the two of us. I had to retire earlier than I should have in order to care for her, which I have often said was an honor. I’m in my 60’s now and am asking God to guide this next phase of life. Maybe my “miracle at the airport” will happen too. You truly discovered your vocation. May God bless you.

I am your age , grew up in San Diego, THANK GOD, I never had children. I have lots of dogs. But even the few times I dreamed ( while sleeping ) that I had a baby, I awoke with a horrible feeling. To me , as an independent woman, the idea of motherhood felt like I had been wrongly convicted of something and sent to prison or condemned to be a slave for life with no freedom. I had controlling parents with no freedom as a child and I was no going to give up my freedom when I finally got it as an adult. More power to you and those like you. Just know that some of us are incredibly happy, no regrets, now as a senior for not having two legged children. My dogs are all the babies I need.
This just touched my heart so much. I have a similar story...married my younger husband and had my beautiful daughter in my forties. Had a lot to learn too. My husband is my sweetest friend. I feel younger in my sixties because he is still young and energetic. I, however, moved from the West to Virginia where I met my beloved. Being a homemaker and wife is the joy of my life. I'm so enjoying my visits with you.

I had a very similar story. I was a professional woman and met my younger husband later in life. I had given up hope of having children, but God blessed us with 3 precious gifts. You are so inspiring to me! I went to college to become a teacher but I really wanted to be a wife and mother. I broke up with my boyfriend going into my senior year at school. I thought I was going to go out into the world alone. I later met my husband at a wedding and he was a surprising gift to me. We now have a sweet baby girl and I stay home with her. I am working on learning how to cook those three meals a day. I enjoy watching your videos, they are so helpful! I thank God that I found a husband who lets me stay home with our daughter but he also treats me as an equal capable of doing great things.

Let me give you another perspective. Some of you were so quick to judge those of us who are career women, saying that the only way was what the Bible teaches. Mary had a CHOICE. She had been a career woman and yearned to be a housewife/homemaker/stay-at-home mom. Neither of those CHOICES were bad or negative. They were simply CHOICES. So let us be grateful that we live in a country where women have that CHOICE. I have been both-I was a divorced, single mom and worked as an executive secretary for over 25 years; then in my 40s I re-married and was able to retire early and become a “housewife.” I ENJOYED both lives.

I love this story so much! It gives me hope. I focused way too long on work as well. Then I had a 9 year relationship with a man who was not stable enough to be a parent. I ended our engagement a few weeks ago. Today is my 47th birthday and I am single with no children. I know that my odds are not great for giving birth at this point, but maybe my child will come to me some other way, like adoption or a step child. Anyway, today you've helped me to believe it's possible a little bit more. Thank you
What a beautiful video....I have wanted to hear this story for a long time. I met my soul mate and best friend at the age of 48.....after failed marriage and 4 beautiful children.......but only found happiness with my gift from God and a blind date with the brother of a friend in a womens bible study group.....we are 65 and 67 now and still enjoying life together!

I don’t think it’s funny to enjoy taking care of your husband. I enjoy taking care of mine now. When we were first married, I was definitely liberated so I didn’t “take care of him” the way I do now. With us, the babies came so quickly, {we had twins) that I was so overwhelmed with them, college, and work, I couldn’t just focus on him like I do now. Your story is so sweet. It is so good that you still love your hubby and don’t mind sharing it. We should all be as lucky. Sometimes, I feel a little silly for talking about him so much but it’s where I’m at now. I get to focus on the two of us and zi like it!

He is my gift from God too:) We met and knew very quickly that God brought us together and we met in January of 2013 and married that November. Have been married now 7 years this year. Two of his brothers live in the DC area so we are familiar with that area as well. I LOVE being a homemaker (I prefer that term to stay at home mom-I am not much of a modernist😉). I have been a school teacher, caterer, and day care director but I am so thankful that I can say my “best life” is being a wife and mama. ♥️💕♥️💕♥️💕♥️💕♥️ I love your love story. I have to say that when I see you with your littles and talking about homeschooling it brings such a rush of wonderful memories back to me. I cherished those days. Mary's Nest You are kind! I do indeed understand about time flying by. Our oldest son is about to be 26 and they are expecting their second child. Our second son just married in the spring and our third son is back at home taking care of our belongings and finances. I miss the times when they were little boys. 💙💙💙 But I am thankful we have the Littles because it’s hard to imagine life without children around.

Mary, no wonder you smile so much! What a nice testimony of God’s grace for you and your husband. I’m all for retro expressions, when we get older we have earned the right to be out of style or in style as preferred. No time for nonsense! One good thing I have noticed is that many of the homesteaders on TH-cam are often mature in age, have life experience, plus a strong skillset from education and work experience, and these help them to plan and implement successfully toward their homestead providing a living. Not only that, but they can share their knowledge with each other and those of us without education, or experience. And you’re right, it is great to have a TH-cam community along with all the wealth of people and their lives. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

Mary, I’ve been watching you for some months and you have taught me a TON, which I truly appreciate. This is the video that spoke to my heart. I never wanted a career, and I always wanted to be a mom, and I am blessed with two amazing boys, actually now they’re young men, and a wonderful husband. I do work outside the home part time, but being home is and always was where I wanted to be. It IS a blessing to be a mother, and to be a wife, and to raise children who have become kind, generous, thoughtful, productive men. My mom use to make a fish stew too. I am Sicilian desent. I was born in 1952. I am older than my husband. I got married at 28 . My son came 2 weeks early. Got pregnant on my honeymoon. Loved your story. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
That was pure joy! 1978 I gave my hubby directions in a hospital. First date (sick of dating) my “goals” came up. I said I wanted to be a wife and mother. I wanted to stay home and raise my own kids, cook, bake and sew. It took at lot of guts and I just thought I’ll watch him run. He asked me to marry him right then. He’d been looking for a freak like me. Two years later married, that was over 40 years ago. Can’t believe women bought the lie that working for strangers was somehow more noble and fulfilling. Thanks you for that heartfelt message. So much love.

Your story has me in tears. I’m in a transtition in my life. Mom died in October of Alzheimer’s at age 92. For 20 years, it was just the two of us. I had to retire earlier than I should have in order to care for her, which I have often said was an honor. I’m in my 60’s now and am asking God to guide this next phase of life. Maybe my “miracle at the airport” will happen too. You truly discovered your vocation. May God bless you.

I am your age , grew up in San Diego, THANK GOD, I never had children. I have lots of dogs. But even the few times I dreamed ( while sleeping ) that I had a baby, I awoke with a horrible feeling. To me , as an independent woman, the idea of motherhood felt like I had been wrongly convicted of something and sent to prison or condemned to be a slave for life with no freedom. I had controlling parents with no freedom as a child and I was no going to give up my freedom when I finally got it as an adult. More power to you and those like you. Just know that some of us are incredibly happy, no regrets, now as a senior for not having two legged children. My dogs are all the babies I need.
This just touched my heart so much. I have a similar story...married my younger husband and had my beautiful daughter in my forties. Had a lot to learn too. My husband is my sweetest friend. I feel younger in my sixties because he is still young and energetic. I, however, moved from the West to Virginia where I met my beloved. Being a homemaker and wife is the joy of my life. I'm so enjoying my visits with you.

I had a very similar story. I was a professional woman and met my younger husband later in life. I had given up hope of having children, but God blessed us with 3 precious gifts. You are so inspiring to me! I went to college to become a teacher but I really wanted to be a wife and mother. I broke up with my boyfriend going into my senior year at school. I thought I was going to go out into the world alone. I later met my husband at a wedding and he was a surprising gift to me. We now have a sweet baby girl and I stay home with her. I am working on learning how to cook those three meals a day. I enjoy watching your videos, they are so helpful! I thank God that I found a husband who lets me stay home with our daughter but he also treats me as an equal capable of doing great things.

Let me give you another perspective. Some of you were so quick to judge those of us who are career women, saying that the only way was what the Bible teaches.
Mary had a CHOICE. She had been a career woman and yearned to be a housewife/homemaker/stay-at-home mom. Neither of those CHOICES were bad or negative. They were simply CHOICES.
So let us be grateful that we live in a country where women have that CHOICE.
I have been both-I was a divorced, single mom and worked as an executive secretary for over 25 years; then in my 40s I re-married and was able to retire early and become a “housewife.” I ENJOYED both lives.

I love this story so much! It gives me hope. I focused way too long on work as well. Then I had a 9 year relationship with a man who was not stable enough to be a parent. I ended our engagement a few weeks ago. Today is my 47th birthday and I am single with no children. I know that my odds are not great for giving birth at this point, but maybe my child will come to me some other way, like adoption or a step child. I don’t think it’s funny to enjoy taking care of your husband. I enjoy taking care of mine now. When we were first married, I was definitely liberated so I didn’t “take care of him” the way I do now. With us, the babies came so quickly, {we had twins) that I was so overwhelmed with them, college, and work, I couldn’t just focus on him like I do now. Your story is so sweet. It is so good that you still love your hubby and don’t mind sharing it. We should all be as lucky. Sometimes, I feel a little silly for talking about him so much but it’s where I’m at now. I get to focus on the two of us and zi like it!

Hello Mary, How wonderful to know a little more about you! I teared up right along with you! I met my husband late in life around 34 (hes 12 years older). He is my gift from God too:) We met and knew very quickly that God brought us together and we met in January of 2013 and married that November. Have been married now 7 years this year. We have one baby in heaven from miscarriage and still waiting if children are his will for us. Thank you for sharing your story. You are a blessed and special lady! God bless.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us! I loved hearing about your journey. I met my husband while living in NYC and we then moved to Philadelphia, from there to Delaware, and now in Ohio. Two of his brothers live in the DC area so we are familiar with that area as well. I too think that Josh was brought to me by divine intervention and could not be more thankful than I am for every day I have with him. Oh Mary💕♥️💕♥️💕♥️💕♥️ I adore this video/story very much. Although I am 8-9 years or so older than you, I can very much relate to your feelings and what you describe about being a wife and mama. I LOVE being a homemaker (I prefer that term to stay at home mom-I am not much of a modernist😉). I have been a school teacher, caterer, and day care director but I am so thankful that I can say my “best life” is being a wife and mama.

I have to say that when I see you with your littles and talking about homeschooling it brings such a rush of wonderful memories back to me. I cherished those days. I am in my early 60s now (and looking forward to my future as a grandmother one day!!) and I am so proud of our son now that he is grown...and I enjoy his company tremendously...but those younger days will always be precious to me!! Mary's Nest You are kind! I do indeed understand about time flying by. Our oldest son is about to be 26 and they are expecting their second child. Our second son just married in the spring and our third son is back at home taking care of our belongings and finances. I miss the times when they were little boys. 💙💙💙 But I am thankful we have the Littles because it’s hard to imagine life without children around.
I am 51 and thankful for every year💙💕

Mary, no wonder you smile so much! What a nice testimony of God’s grace for you and your husband. I’m all for retro expressions, when we get older we have earned the right to be out of style or in style as preferred. No time for nonsense!
One good thing I have noticed is that many of the homesteaders on TH-cam are often mature in age, have life experience, plus a strong skillset from education and work experience, and these help them to plan and implement successfully toward their homestead providing a living. Not only that, but they can share their knowledge with each other and those of us without education, or experience. And you’re right, it is great to have a TH-cam community along with all the wealth of people and their lives. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

So sweet! Thanks for sharing. I am in my 60's and so desire to be a wonderful homemaker and take good care of my husband. I am learning so much at this stage in my life, a late start for sure, but thankful for the internet. It breaks my heart that I may never be the woman I dream of being because of Lyme disease, but I do the little bit I can.

Mary, I’ve been watching you for some months and you have taught me a TON, which I truly appreciate. This is the video that spoke to my heart. I never wanted a career, and I always wanted to be a mom, and I am blessed with two amazing boys, actually now they’re young men, and a wonderful husband. I do work outside the home part time, but being home is and always was where I wanted to be. It IS a blessing to be a mother, and to be a wife, and to raise children who have become kind, generous, thoughtful, productive men. Thank you for sharing this part of you, and thank you for everything you do!!!

Your story had me in tears! How wonderful how God arranges all the details!! I was raised in foster homes and all I wanted was my own family and a wonderful husband. We have 3 children, 6 grandkids and 2 great granddaughters. Married 52 years.
