Join us Sundays at 9:30am or 5:30pm for our church services at 365 Lukes Wood road new Canaan CT. Grace Community Church
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

its been proven that there is a natural resonant frequency of all things... humans are at 100ų. fabrics like linen and wool are higher than 100ų and therefore have better healing properties (thats why the Bible talks about being in the finest linen. when you mix wool and linen, both frequencies cancel each other out.
most synthetic and blended clothing is well below 100ų.
most people will put a tattoo of a skull or something dead...maybe even a date a loved one died....bible says not to make a marking for the dead. also your body is a temple of the holy spirit and you are marking your skin to what you think is making it better....but as you are, you are made in the image of God, we should therefore reflect that image back to God....as unblemished as possible

I have Tattoos and even got a Grim reaper on my leg when I was like 19. I had a bad phase of addiction at that age. I always believed in God and knew in my heart Jesus was born and died on the cross and was raised from the dead. I also always prayed if not every night most. I've made so many mistakes but I just ask for forgiveness and know that without the sacrifice Jesus made tattoos or not we wouldn't be saved. So here is a prayer I've said since about 8 years old, I learned in Vacation Bible school. Dear God I know that Jesus is your Son and that he died on the cross and was raised from the dead. I know I have sinned but I am willing to turn from my sin and receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray Amen. 🙏

As someone with tattoos, I believe God knows my mind and heart so what I’ve already done doesn’t matter. As long as I’m striving to follow his teachings I’ll be in his good graces.
My advice to people who already have them, don’t worry too much. God knows each and every one of us and has love regardless of our mistakes or misfortunes.
Advice to people who don’t have them, don’t get them. They aren’t necessary regardless of what they mean to you or others. Think beyond the flesh whenever possible and stay true to your values and virtues

@Insomniac___ I’m gonna be honest with you, I don’t have the disposable income to worry about getting them removed. I got mine done free from family so I’ve never really had the normalized income to actually have them if that makes sense, I was speaking from that perspective. But to directly challenge your point, I just cant believe that something like that would hold me back if my will is to be with him, He knows where I’ve been and where I’m destined to go. We pray for forgiveness and repent in addition to staying faithful to keep our relationship with him, I understand that tattoos are a sin, but we all have our sins. Motivation behind our actions speaks more than the action itself imo

      New International Version
5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

For anyone wondering about the question the guy asked about the specific verse, he’s referring to the part where it says “do not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead”. This is also interesting because when it is compared with the same story that Cliffe used about Elijah and the other people on the mountain, he describes that they call out to their god by cutting themselves. Notice, in the verse I mentioned, it says “do not make any cuttings in your flesh FOR THE DEAD”. This could be interpreted as God saying the other people were worshipping dead gods. The only true, living God, is Jesus Christ.

yes I agree. I don’t think this means people who’ve passed on because later Jesus explains the “dead” are really the Living and dead are those who don’t believe. So I think again the meaning of dead here is the dead in Spirit.. aka false gods. I think it’s ok if people get tattoo to remember or honor a deceased love one. I think this verse is saying not to get tattoos to worship false gods or offer blood to them.

My comment with things like this is “what will you lose by not doing it”. Will you think about it when you are old and say “man, I regret not getting that”? Will you miss heaven by NOT doing it. Sure, I have some conversation pieces but I wish they were gone. If they were Godly tattoos then I may not regret getting them but still I wouldn’t miss them either. It's no different if you go and cheat on your wife and you got saved afterwards you still have to pay the price. Yashua pay the price on the cross and did nothing wrong. He committed no sin. Just because you got saved doesn't mean you will not pay for your actions. We were born sinners and we will suffer all of our lives. It's so very important to read the word for yourself the young man at the end gave the correct explanation of what Leviticus was saying God told His ppl not to make any markings on their body in memory of the dead bc that was a pagan custom that came from Egypt. Now remember at this time God was giving His law to His ppl after He delivered them from the hands of the Egyptians. And if we're reading that in the manner of ignorance as it's often read it also says in that same verse we aren't to cut the sides of our heads or shave our beards. Again God was calling His ppl out of pagan practices they inherited from living amongst the Egyptians.

That line has two parts, the first half is about cutting the body for the dead, the second half can he interpreted as a separate guideline since it separates the first half with "or" and specificly talks about making marks on te body. Many people make a tattoo with the face of a lost relative ..I'd assume regardless of the interpretation that kind of tattoo is not ok. Not making marks to the body would make sense in the Judeo-Christian religions since there suppose to be a creator God and humans are modifying the body he created for selfish reason. Lets not pretend that most people doesnt get a tattoo because of vanity or pride.

Its really easy to know if something is a sin or not, just step back and ask yourself: "will this honor God, will it bring him glory?" Does permanently marking his creation, his temple (your body) with your own creation bring honor to the father? Does placing your own creation on top of his creation bring him joy? If you just finished with a painting that took you all week to finish and all of a sudden the painting started drawing weird stuff all over itself, would you be happy?

The key is/was the motive of the tattoo.
Then, motive was similar to the parade of pain (Thaipusam and Kaavadi) you see in certain parts of India. The idea was a form of self flagellation to invoke the gods. "Hey God, look at me how I'm cutting and wounding myself to get your attention."
Today, the motive is artistic self expression. So very different.
    Remember, read....in....context.

    • @eriklarson4082
      @eriklarson4082 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

The motive for every tattoo is for the attention of others in some form or another. No one gets a tattoo and hides it and hopes no one ever sees it.
Tattoos can also give legality for demonic spirits to enter you, especially occult themed tatts. Many get them out of ignorance (pyramids, one eye, serpents, tribal, chessboard etc.) and don't realize the double meanings.

    • @thelegendgamer33
      @thelegendgamer33 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

What people forget is that original context is what matters to God. It's all that matters to him. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He rejected any silver or ornaments from opposing tribes against Israel as spoils after war because he cared about the original context - ie they were used ceremoniously or weree used in evil practices in some capacity or were just plain old owned by evil people.
Tattoos are a form of bloodletting and God does not like them. Your intent on them does no matter because they are spiritually very harmful. God was so particular in the bible that he wouldn't permit his followers to wear two kinds of the same clothing. Somehow I think making cuts in yourself for fun or because they look cool, is not something that excites him. If you don't believe me watch a video of tattooing up close/ zoomed in and you can see how it brutalises the body. Tattooing is a sin and extremely harmful to the soul which is nested sacredly in the vessel of the body God made for you without tattoo holes in it. Do some research before you argue otherwise.

People should be able to look at you and know you're different: in the way you act, dress, carry yourself, and sometimes even the way we look. I have self harm scars on me but if someone asks about them, thats just an opportunity to tell someone what God delivered me from. Same if you have tattoos, especially for the dead, you should follow your personal convinction on whether or not and/or when to get those removed.

I heard about research being done recently in regard to different fabrics. Now, all people, animals & things give off a specific electrical frequency. When your frequency is high, you're less prone to sickness & have a better connectivity to the things around you, to God, nature...etc. When you're operating at a low frequency, you are more prone to dis-ease in your system, operating from places of fear, anxiety, panic. You are more likely to get sick & suffer from stress. Like anything else, these fabrics give off a different frequency. Cotton & linen & wool showed, in this reasearch, to be at a higher frequency; therefore it promotes a better well-being within all of your systems i.e. mental, physical...etc. Fabrics that are of mixed content, even polyester & silk, showed to be of a much lower frequency. If a living human body has a high frequency, a dead body has a frequency as well albeit very low. Polyester, I recall, is closer to that of a dead body. Which is not good to be on any living body. It will make all of your systems go out of whack. Same thing with what is used to make the vast majority of our shoes, even rubber & latex ~ same thing, low vibe. Because of where cotton/linen & wool are at on the frequency scale, if you wear the two together, it cancels the two out ~ another thing that's not good for the living body. So if nothing else, at least this a good template to start when it comes to understanding fabrics & consequences of mixing them. Perhaps this isn't why the Bible says not to mix them but it's interesting nonetheless.

    I have 3 tattoos.
*Smiley face on left hand, my good friend was being deployed to Iraq the next day so I let him because we I didn't know if I'd ever see him again.
*A very detailed wooden cross with roses and the word MAMA carved into the wood, my mother passed on valentines day 2010 and she always prayed for me and my sister to turn to Jesus.
*A shark on my right calf, my best friend was getting his first tattoo and didn't wanna go at it alone so I hopped on the table next to him.
I do pray that the Lord takes none of these as an offense to him or as a way to invoke evil spirits, that was never the intention behind any of them. I strayed from him for too long and have been getting called loudly recently, ive been praying again and my prayers have been getting answered.

I don’t think the passage in Leviticus is about not getting tattoos, but not cutting to worship false idols. If we’re not to cut and shed blood, we couldn’t get life saving surgeries, or bad teeth removed, etc. As Christians we are not under the law of Moses. Only the moral laws the Ten Commandments as a guide. I think many are using the passage in Leviticus to start arguments which Paul also said not to do. Of course context is key when reading the Bible or anything Rob, that's understood, especially with old books like the Bible that were written thousands of years before our time in another part of the world from most of us, so language and settings will have been different and we need to allow for that but that can be just as much said about other ancient writings that claim to be of a divine source too.
Muslims, for an obvious, well known example, will tell you that when you read the Quran you need to read it in context in order to properly understand why certain, seemingly horrific things were supposedly done by the Allah they believe in. Now, if you try to point out to them what is wrong with the Quran and what's wrong with the Allah they believe in based on what it says in there, that's what they will say in response to you, namely 'hey, you need to read the Quran in context brother'. It's a fair point about making sure we understand the context, sure but the problem is that none of that tells us whether these writings really are from a supreme being or not 🤔

Tattoos are an aesthetic. Leviticus is the book of Law, geared towards the Hebrew people. Are Gentiles bound to that law? Some people argue that they aren’t because they aren’t Jews in blood. Others argue they are as Jesus United us as one people. I believe that your heart truly determines how you go about this. I had a heavy desire to get tatted up one time. When I got into the Word and really started to connect with God, the desire genuinely faded away. It gave me the realization that maybe God doesn’t want me to do this, and that’s okay! I have one tattoo already. Does that mean I’m going to Hell? No. My heart for God determines my destination after death.

This is somewhat true....however, the verse in Leviticus says "Dont cut and mark your body FOR THE DEAD".....the reason it says for the dead, is because at that day and time pagans would cut and tattoo themselves to perform ungodly rituals when a loved one passed away to try and bring them back from the dead. That's the meaning behind the dead reference....this is talking about pagan rituals NOT modern day tattoos

I remember getting baptized at the age of 19 on September 4, 2022. I always had the feeling that something was separating me from everyone and everything around me but I chose to ignore that feeling for so long until I saw everyone close to me leaving and I felt so lost and alone and surrendered to the Lord. Before and after I got baptized I had this obsession with getting tattoos and whenever I spoke to my mom about it she would tell me not to put any marking on my skin but I kept thinking about it until one day I went to church and they had called up the young converts to pray for us and this lady I've never seen before called me out to the front saying she had a word from the Lord for me.
The msg was "keep the temple clean", The only thing I'd been contemplating was getting tattooed but I kept getting an off feeling about it then I did some studying of the bible and found this scripture below.
1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
God answered my question. He's always on time and He makes no mistakes.

You should treat your body has a Holy Temple.” My simple response was, “Well, I know God loves me, I’ll never cheat, I’ll never steal, I’ll never murder, and I’ll never rape. For us Catholic/Christians, we should follow the Ten Commandments in order for us to have better life here on Earth and be with Him in paradise when we leave Earth. Secondly, for our bodies being a holy temple, well that means mine has stained glass windows then.”
    Left them speechless 🤣

I love my tattoos they have meaning and no regret. And I know its ok. God still loves those who have them and it does not define if a person is going to heaven or not. The soul and heart does.

It’s true God loves you, but you have to let the sin go. I have tattoos too, I’m repentant of it and wouldn’t do it now and definitely will not show pride in a time I disrespected God

Wrong is wrong, no matter how you try to justify it. We aren't suppose to understand everything, like why would it matter etc. but it's pretty clear that it's something God is against, so who the hell am I or you to try to justify it and say otherwise? I've got several tattoos myself but I'm not trying to say it's right because that would just be me spewing nonsense...

The refraining of mixing of clothing if I remember correctly was due to the fact the father did not want sweat in the inner court of the temple. Interesting tho this is only mentioned in Ezekiel 44 during the measuring of the temple by the man in brass seen in the spirit.

As someone with Tattoos (Which are mainly Animals) I Always believed that If jesus is in your heart and soul, it doesnt matter what i put on my body as long as its decent.
Its like we arent suposed to wear certain fabrics either apart from 100% Organic Cotton....Linen or Wool....but never mix them as their energy counteracts with each other.

I have two sleeves. One of them is actually Christian. The other is not (I was a confused 20 year old). I was then saved afterwards. I don’t project my sin on others but it’s sin for me. I got them to be cool and have to deal with them forever because I’m not going through the pain and expense of removal. You live and learn 🤷‍♂️

It was a practice to scar or tattoo your body in remembrance of the dead. That's what it's talking about. I think in context it's leviticus and doesn't really apply to today. The best argument I see against it is that your body is a temple of the Lord, and also that you should not be vain. I think the more you have God in your heart the less you want to draw attention to yourself.

To answer his question as to why you shouldn’t wear different clothing is because each type of clothing has a frequency linen and wool I THINK are a low end frequency or I could have it reversed. Regardless it’s to better help the energy in your body be more freeing that Is if you wear the correct clothing.

I strongly don’t recommend anybody to get tattoos because the ink goes into your bloodstream and you’re literally causing bruising -which is broken blood vessels. At the end of the day, this is just to make everyone aware of what they’re doing to their bodies. GOD Bless you ALL. 💕
