In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about the story of Hari Singh Nalwa, one of the most trustworthy commanders in Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s army. He was the Governor of Kashmir, Hazara and Peshawar. Nalwa shot to fame after defeating the Afghans and establishing control over various regions along the boundary of Afghanistan. He also prevented Afghans from entering Punjab through the Khyber Pass, which was the main route that foreign invaders used to enter India from 1000 AD till the early 19th century.

I grew up with all the badass Hari singh Nalwa stories that my father used to tell and It would always intrigue me. But as the time passed i came to know that nobody has heard of him. I came across a term called "Memoricide" which means wiping out a person from history.
Hari singh Nalwa was targeted to be erased from the history. People who were in control , tried to destroy the proof of his existence. Something's off about the people in power! They can still bring so many changes in our history books but why aren't they doing anything , is something that always infuriates me.
Anyway , i am happy to see that truth is finally being told , largely because of TH-camrs.

"During the times of Sher-e-Panjab, Raja Ranjit Singh, the Sikh Raaj (kingdom) stretched from Delhi to Kabul (in Afghanistan). Raja Ranjit Singh's key general was Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, who was a Rehatvan (strict observant) Sikh of the Guru. Once Hari Singh Nalwa had set up camp with his army in Jamraud in Afghanistan. A local Muslim woman called 'Bano' watched the Sikhs set up camp. She found Hari Singh Nalwa very handsome and attractive, and wished to have a relationship with him.
One day Bano came to see Hari Singh Nalwa. He was sitting in his tent, when the Sikh guards told him that he had a local woman who wished to see him. Not knowing who this lady was or what she wanted, Hari Singh gave permission to come and see him. Bano said, "I had heard of the Sikhs. You are remarkable people. I have been watching you from a distance. I am not married and have no children, but desire to have a son who is like you."
Hari Singh did not understand the motivation or intention of Bano and said, "May Waheguru bless you that you may have a son with the qualities of a Sikh." Bano irritably said, "I want to have a son with you Sardar Ji."
Hari Singh Nalwa said, "O sister! I am already married. I am sorry I cannot marry you or give you what you want."
Bano's eyes welled up with tears of disappointment. About to leave, she said, "I had heard your Guru Nanak was great and that no one leaves empty handed from Guru Nanak's House, but today I am being turned away without the wish of a son being fulfilled."
Hari Singh Nalwa, a true example of a Sikh of the Guru, replied, "It is true that no one goes empty handed from Guru Nanak's House. I cannot give you a son, but if you desire a son to be like me, then instead if you accept, from now on I will be your son, and I will consider you my mother." Bano was shocked and overwhelmed by Hari Singh Nalwa's sincerity, high moral character and faith in the Guru. She said, "I had heard that Sikhs of the Guru are great honorable people, but today I have seen it with my own eyes. From that day on Hari Singh Nalwa addressed Begum Bano as "Maa" (Mother) and she addressed Hari Singh as "Putar" (Son) "

Asal mein baat ye thi ki 1813 mein Hari Singh and Diwan Mokkam Chand ne Dost Mohammad aur Jahan Khan ki sena ko nowshera mein hra diya tha aur dono ko bhagna pada tha. Jia karan unhe andaza ho gya tha ki Shiko se samne se ladna bevkufgi ha. Baad mein 1819 ko Hari Singh Kashmir ke doore par thae, tab Maharaja ne Peshawar ke khilaf mihim ched di jis ka virodh karne ke liye Dost Mohammed khan fir aya ( usse jasooson se kabar mil gyi thi ki Nalwa yaha nahi ha). Par ye kabar galat sabit hui . maharaja ne Peshawar par hmla kar diya apni jaan bachane ke liye usne 1 lakh coins or peshwar se sikh samraj ki adeeta svikar kar li.

@@shahanarif4295 Peshawar was part of Afghanistan only, but after defeating pathans, it got merged in the Sikh kingdom and later when British Empire took over Sikh empire, they demarcated Durand line which was the border line between British India and Afghanistan.
Later it went to pakistan after partition of India, and that is for what TTP and Taliban are fighting for even today with pakistani govt. and army, as they claim it to be thier land 🤣🤣, but they never be able to take it as pakistan will bomb them to stone age, well the state in which Taliban is currently in is not much better state than stone age.
And believe me we will come again for Kabul, the dream of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh will come true one day.

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਓਥੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਜਾ ਖਲੋਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਧੋ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ,ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ।ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ,ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
