The inner metal sleeve is specific to LA Golf’s P SoHo putter shafts. The reason the original TPZ and P shafts only works with in-hosel shafted putters is because the inside diameter of graphite does not fit on over-hosel shafted putters. There is no metal sleeve on either the TPZ or P series putter shafts.
For the P SoHo series, in alignment LA Golf branding, SoHo is an abbreviation for South Hollywood but also very cleverly stands for Shaft Over HOsel.
The SoHo isn’t intended for plumbers neck putters like yours but I also have a plumbers neck putter and wanted the Green P SoHo. I had to do exactly when you did to get this shaft to work for my putter but in case you wanted to get another black one for another plumbers neck putter, you can just get a P Series and not have to do what we did on the P SoHo.

How far does the metal sleeve go up the shaft? Seems logical to me to have a sleeve at the head but just because you see it at the tip of the shaft doesn't mean it goes all the way through to the grip. For all we know from your "experiment" is that that metal sleeve could just be an inch protruding and an inch into the shaft...
When I removed the grip I was able to see it is a complete steel shaft all the way through. I forgot to take pictures of it from the butt end. Interesting design being wrapped in graphite.
Was this shaft not supposed to have this sleeve? Seems like you dont know what theyre made of so very confusing the shocking nature of finding this sleeve in the shaft. Id assume theyre not trying to pull a fast one and thats just how it needs to be made.
Good question! In my research I could not find any construction methods other than it was a graphite putter shaft. To my surprise it had a steel shaft/sleeve inside. All their other shafts seem to be full graphite only so it was an interesting find.

Question is now, why is it $400 if its predominately steel? Seems like we're getting ripped off with the soho.
Yea I’m sure it has to do with the graphite or carbon it’s wrapped in! I will say, like in the review it is the stiffest/thickest steel shaft I’ve ever seen!
