Hi, great video, I have a big question about codex's workflow, Can I use a double conection with dual dock?? I work with a codex dual dock, a external casis with pci card with dual thunderbold port, Can I conect 1 thunderbold to 1 mac book pro, and the other one to other mac pro to make dual bkp in the same time?? Previusly I worked with open gate, ARRI RAW, trascoding to pro res 422 an triple bkp, Is there any way to do more short this prossess??
Marlon Cristancho The Dual Dock only has a SAS connection and the Thunderbolt Single Dock only has one thunderbolt connection, so there's no way you could plug either of those into two computers at once. You can offload to two destinations simultaneously, though, if those two hard drives are plugged in to the same computer as your dock.
Juliet McNally YEAH It´s correct, but I connect my dual dock with SAS CABLE to an external PCIe with 2 thunderbolt outputs, and I just use one to connect to my mac pro. Can I use the other one simultaneously.............. I hope you understand me, I am not a native English speaker
Marlon Cristancho Okay, I understand now. I think it would be safer to offload to two hard drives simultaneously, rather than two computers. I've never tried connecting to two computers, so I don't know if the second computer would even be able to read the dock while another computer is.
I don' get why you would transcode while offloading, seems like it would just occupy the media for longer than necessary, why not make proxies after offloading?
Response from Ian: The Codex system will allow you to transcode if you have the license. The benefit is to do all these tasks at the same time. There is no reason however the original files can not be offloaded and then transcoded later. You simply have the option to do so at the time of offloading the original files. some productions will require transcoded files while on set.
I have the current MacBook Pro for my setup and I was getting about 2x real time on the copy / transcode.
Hi Can get the links for the software please thank you great video
Anyone know where one can buy the single card reader he showed at start (10 years later )
Can the VFS system be used with Shotput Pro v5 for offloading to multiple drives/generating checksums?
Yes it can. When mounted the VFS appears to ShotPut as an external hard drive and it will copy from it just as normal.
Was Avengers Age of Ultron shot with the arri alexa xt?
partially, they also used red epic dragon.
Great tutorial, thank you! .ari to .mov prores422, USB3, current model Macbook pro, what is the approx FPS of the copy/conversion?

The XT can record EITHER Raw or ProRes internally, but not both at the same time. If you want both you'll need an external recorder to record ProRes.
pretty straightforward
