  • ARRI has now started shipping the ALEXA SXT camera, and we were lucky enough to have one in house for a short time. The ALEXA SXT is the latest evolution of the ALEXA camera line, with several new features and the horsepower of the ALEXA 65 camera. The SXT has a Swiss Army knife of recording options, giving you many ProRes and raw formats, and a wide variety of frame sizes to support anamorphic and aspherical acquisition. All of these can be recorded to the new Codex SXR capture drives, which give the highest frame rate options. Other recording options include CFast 2.0, SxS, or the ALEXA XT's Codex capture drive with an adapter.
    The camera now has the same powerful look management features found in the AMIRA and ALEXA Mini. It takes this concept further with four independently addressable outputs and remote color grading options via Pomfort LiveGrade or other applications. Any color adjustments performed on set can be saved as metadata to the camera clips. These can be easily applied directly from the clips in most NLEs and color grading applications. The SXT also has some image processing improvements and noise reduction options, and with the ALEXA 65 hardware inside, there are many possibilities for future improvements via firmware updates. question, why use this over a mini when it's cheaper to rig a mini and it's the same image quality?

    • @Scantron2000
      @Scantron2000 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can get much longer record times with the SXT since the SXR Capture Drives are available at up to 2TB. Easier to use audio inputs. The Mini has no power outputs. You can hot-swap power in on the SXT. And the SXT has twice as many SDI outputs. Maybe that's not enough of a difference for you personally to choose an SXT over a Mini, but for some applications that's enough to push a production to use the SXT.

    • @TrystFilms
      @TrystFilms 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      okay thanks yeah I see how it could be needed on bigger productions, SDI outputs wise I get that but audio inputs I don't see a need considering most productions should be using external mixers in my opinion. I have another question, would this be a usable A cam for a low budget feature with good rigs ect

    • @Scantron2000
      @Scantron2000 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. With a battery plate, power breakout, and shoulder rig, you can definitely use this for a low budget feature or documentary. If you want to use zooms, the cforce mini motors can be daisy-chained to the LBUS connector on the camera.

    How are 4k blu ray titles made for movies which were shot digitally ?

    • @waflletoast11
      @waflletoast11 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are upscaled during mastering. Arri 3k footage is examples to HD then upscaled to 4k
