I produced this video for Other Half Entertainment in 2005. Thank you all for your positive comments and messages. I'm glad it is still so well received several years after it was created.
I think the video captures the person she really seemed to be: on these photos she is posing with people who liked her as more than just a singer but as a person. In her interviews she was always warm, down to earth, vulnerable. She was a human being, not a brand, image or object as every other singer is. The photos show how much she loved people, how sensitive and empathetic she was. She reminds me of Princess Diana that way: classy, a lady, empathetic, kind, shy, wore her heart on her sleeve, vulnerable. I don't think we will ever see anyone like Laura again.
I remember growing up with the 80's music, and Laura Branigan was a favorite of mine. What a gorgeous voice she had. She died on my birthday. It was heartbreaking for me and I know for many others too. Gone way too soon. RIP Laura. At least we have the memories of your beautiful voice, and your voice will live on and you will in our hearts.
1982.. I was a young guy of 23 and madly in love with an American girl.. Laura Branigan. When I first heard her sing Gloria..I was lost! God bless you princess.. You will always have a place in my heart.
One the MOST underrated voices of ALL time, brilliant performer, timeless talent and most sensational lady on stage! Laura Branigan was one of the classiest women in showbiz with so much to offer, gone WAY too soon. In an era of JUNK music and untalented pop stars we ALL miss Laura's tremendous talents! She filled us with LOVE,humanity and LIFE. I cant say that for todays trashy music scene.
She did the same with her husband who died of cancer in 1996. Turner Classic Movies should use this song for there annual tribute of those who worked in the entertainment industry who have passed away.
Je ne savais pas qu'elle était décédée. Se sont les meilleurs qui sans vont ! C'était une super chanteuse et une très belle femme. Que ton âme repose en paix Laura ! 😘❤💤💞🌸

Hi Laura - I know you hear us, when we come here to convey our feelings to you, to spend a moment hearing you, crystal clear and sweet. Can we always come to you, run to you, when our needs are just as crystal yet so unclear? Laura yes, you are always here and we will always hear you. Right here in all of our hearts, together forever, in our hearts. Laura I worked with you in Japan way back when as a lighting assistant running your spotlight. You'll never remember me but perhaps my memory of you and so many other's memories you shall never be forgotten. Ever.
Life is so strange.until 2 days ago,I only knew her for the song Gloria, and that she had passed away in early 2000's,and that she was in her 40's,and that I felt very sad when it happened, even though I hadn't been an avid fan.(not because I didn't like her singing;I was very distracted and busy during my 30's,and just would listen to the radio once in a while. By chance, two days ago, I happened to watch video w/ a live performance of power of love on youtube.I was not previously aware that she had recorded it .Now,after watching several videos of her performances and interviews,I feel tremendous grief by her passing away. She was a beautiful, kind, and tremendously talented angel.
I had a crush on Laura Branigan in 1982. I was 15 years old. Now I'm 47, her age when she passed. In some ways, that seemed like a long time ago. But I remember those times like it was yesterday. I'll always remember her beautiful singing voice.
***** I nearly "bought the farm" when I was 43. Took open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve in my heart to save my life. That was the second time I cheated death. I often wonder how many chances does one get??
When I think of the great performers, none had such talent, love of people, and wonderful demeanor like Laura Branigan. It is so sad that she left us so soon. Her music will live on, and we will always remember her..
Hey every one my name is Angie yauger from Uniontown and I just wanted to it makes me very happy to hear such nice things about Laura branigan I'm a big myself and I saw her in concert when I was a little girl and she was in Pittsburgh pa at point state park
Many years ago back in the early 2000s, I transferring my beta video collection to computer hard drives and once again I stumbled into Laura is self-control video. All I had was the video I didn't know who she was, I know that I loved the song but could not reference or index until just lately I had to listen to the old video and take sections of the audio piece by piece, each piece of this audio I post to a search and finally, was able to find Laura´s songs. And now I'm heartbroken to find that she's gone I am her age.I am blessed that I can enjoy her work. Her song self-control invokes an unusual visceral feeling.not typical of most musical enjoyment, unique only with her peace. but the good news is she lives on forever electronically, she's immortal ,the next best thing to Paradise for now. Jerry
Oh yes. I remember her. So beautiful; such a beautiful powerful voice... I've come to the conclusion that's it's all a toss up here. Whether good, bad, rich,poor---we just can go at anytime.... However, I believe I read, at the time, that Laura had a days long headache. Usually, we take aspirin; most don't know aspirin thins out the blood and there is a danger of having a brain aneurysm. I still wonder if this is what triggered her untimely demise?..... RIP Laura Branigan. Will never forget you.
Laura ... When I was just a 10 yr old boy, I loved to hear you sing... I grew up listening to songs like this. You were a great singer and I miss the feelings I awakened when hear you ... I am nostalgic
Laura Branigan has always been my favorite artist, I shall always have her in my heart, the most beautiful voice, way ahead of her time, and yes she will be missed that angel voice taken back home. R.I.P
I remember how devastated I was the day I heard on the radio that Laura Branigan had passed away from a brain aneurysm. I loved her music, and had several of her albums. A fabulous talent and a lovely voice taken from us much too soon. It's still hard to believe. Rest in peace, Laura!
I was in love with Laura from "All Night with Me" on. She drew me in with that first single I played on little KFTW in '82 and never let go. Well, I was in love as much as one can be from many miles and having never met her in person. Beautiful in all ways, and I cannot play "Never in a Million Years" now without coming close to losing it. Thank you, darlin', and be at peace.
Her voice her beauty I absolutely love her , her songs remind me the situation and where I was when I hear one of her songs . But self control is my favorite song of all time may she rest in peace lovely lady !!!!!
I was waking up by Laura's song when I was teen at around 18. I grow up with her songs. It gives me the same feeling when I listen to hear NOW! I was disconnected from the world of music since then. I have just learnt that she passed away in 2004. How sad is to see she is gone.
What Ive come 2 learn about the brilliant Laura Branigan was what an amazing human being she was. Blessed with that voice, that sounded like no one else, she left the spotlight 2 care 4 her terminally ill husband. And later her mother who was battling Alzheimer's. I saw & met her in Las Vegas. So beautiful, so kind, & that voice that tore the house down. She loved her fans & I know shes looking down @ us.RIP
Just found this video, didn't know she had passed. Now quite saddened as another piece of serenity has gone over from the 80's. May Angels enjoy her voice in Heaven as we did here on Earth. Am 42 myself and well damn, you never know when your time is up. RIP Laura
Brian Chapman] Laura Branigan was a unique talent but even more, she was a rare individual. After her husband became ill she quit singing to care for him. As you might guess he was very ill and was cared for not at a hospital but at home. By the time he passed away Laura Branigan's health was gone. It took a long time to recover after which she started a comeback. She was doing well then she became ill and never recovered. I noted all this from memory which I read many years ago. I do miss her wonderful voice.
I remember in 80's my mother was listening to Laura, i can't forget those days and thanks mom for teaching me real music from when i was a little boy. May my mom and her soul rest in peace.
Possibly one of the greatest songs ever. My brother has recenytly died by suicide and I can't get this out of my head.Laura was not a woman she was a force of nature and her version of this song is perfect for anyone who lost someone
As your song's title " With every beat of my heart" I miss you Laura. You were simply the voice of our generation. May you rest in peace. But youre always alive amongst us. Always love you ...xxx
Excellent emotional voice. Many wonderful hits for the world to treasure. This song is very special to listen to. To be unmoved by the lyrics and her voice is impossible. R.I.P. Branigan.
If ever a singer died too soon, this is she! I am 54 today and became a #1 fan when I was 14 with her debut album Branigan - still regularly listen to her nuggets of ear gold and search randomly for stories about her. There was just something about her that was pure and organic and deserving - so superior to so many 'stars' of our generations.
I grew up with her music...She had a phenomenal sweet voice and was a beautiful lady who put her heart an soul into every song....She is a big loss to all who loved her family or fan..Her death was shocking..a death in the waiting. I also had a sever ruptured brain aneurysm. My surgeon told me I should have died.He told me that most of the time, when people's brain bleeds for over an hour..the outcome is usually grim.. I can assure her family, that she died peacefully and felt no pain.. Very beautiful lady..I loved listening to her sweet voice..
So so sad. What a huge loss of such a beautiful talented strong inspirational person. A personal inspiration to myself and my family. If all seems lost, you can still sing, and bring joy to others.
With tears in my eyes and joy in my heart with her music...she is saddly missed! Laura, you are a beautiful spirit...you always were...you always will be!! Miss the blessing of having you here!!
