Smaller and slightly less expensive than the shield with the same capacity, caliber, and reliability. Probably the most underrated single stack 9mm. Its astounding how few youtube gun channels would even make reviews for it.
Nano comes with two six round magazines. The Shield 9 comes with a 7 round and 8 round magazine. Heck...the Shield .40 has 6 & 7 round magazines. The place I purchased my Shield was $100 less, than the Nano. Maybe, the price has dropped since on the Nano.
That's a great price. Every gun shop and chain store I've seen this past weekend had them priced $400-$465. Also, they all came with two six round magazines. Just like in the video above. The eight round extended magazine has to be ordered. Just curious. Where did you purchase yours?
Bought mine on buds about a year ago and it came with a 6 and an 8 and cost $400. My dad bought one at academy about 2 months ago for $350 and it came with a 6 and an 8 too. But truth be told the only thing that initially pushed me from buying a shield to buying the nano was the fact that the mag release is reversible (I'm a lefty). I'm sure the shield is a great gun, and the price isn't bad on it either. My initial comment was really just about how the nano deserves more press than its been getting.
I might have purchased the Nano had I found that deal last spring. I love my Berettas, but still do not own one from their polymer line up yet. I've been eyeballing the Pico to replace my Beretta 3032 for pocket carry.
I owned the Ruger LC9 and LC9s ever since both came out. Just recently bought a Nano and fell in love with it. So far did over 600 rounds of mixed ammo. Gun is running flawless, less recoil than the Ruger and much less muzzle flip. If you break the gun down, you can see a much better build quality with the Beretta. Stainless Steel Chassis, barrel etc. A really tough tank build quality. I love the trigger. Not too long, not to short. Great for CCW. Thanks for posting. Ps. Extremely easy to take down and add night sights. Love this gun.
I got here from a Maserati mc20 vid, someone mentioned beretta nano, never heard of it. Now I know and though I know nothing about guns I’m really impressed with this beautifully engineered little gun. I wish I lived in some US state just so I could own one legitimately 😊
Another of your reviews of one of my guns! The Nano was one of the first CC guns I bought, loved the really small size. I also have a DeSantis pocket holster for it, even in the holster I can slip it into a front jeans pocket and nobody gives it a second look! I don't shoot a lot, probably have 400 - 500 rounds through it, but so far it has always fired, no hangups at all. My point is, if someone wants a pocket carry 9mm, I recommend they get a Nano and fill it with 124 grain hollow points. Only my personal opinion, of course, based on my experience with it!
I have had the Nano about 9 months and put close to 1000 rounds through it, never had a misfire or jam. Very accurate right out of the box, carry it most everyday.
I've shot several hundred 115g FMJs through mine with no malfunction! I'm probably somewhere near 500-600 rounds through mine with all kinds of ammo and never once had so much as a hiccup. I just ordered a set of the Talon grips for it. Everyone seems to love them. Great video and keep up the good work!
Also, you can fit 7 rounds in the 6 round mag for your reload mag. It won't go in with the slide forward, but back it will. Perfect way to sneak one more round in your backup mag.
SOOTCH hey man, you and I both looked about 7 years younger back when u produced this video!! I am so aggravated with myself, I missed a Dec 2019 sale on these, they were $199 in stead of $399 !!! I didnt see the sale til it had ended in Jan 2020. At a Fin store in NC Ohio. Love going back and referring to your past videos for info. Now that I have a few yrs experience with u tube gun channels, I would feel safe to state that YOU are in my top 5 !! Thanks for all your efforts and especially for NOT judging the piece by the Company Name. . . . Jimmy from Ohio
Update from my post 3 years ago. I now have two Nano's and a Beretta Carry. I now have over 15,000 rds through my range gun, about 6,000 through the other Nano and about the same through the Carry. I have also purchased a few other guns like the Sig 365 and Hellcat. Nothing I have shot comes close to the Nano. This is one very under rated EDC. Ultra Mild shooting, and again, built like a tank. Designed to last a lifetime for sure. The Striker fired DAO is so smooth, deliberate, and controlled. Bravo to Beretta on this one. The Carry is basically the same gun with a different grip. I still prefer the Nano grip. However you can even change out the grips as the Nano grips will fit the Carry.
I just bought a M&P Shield 9mm and i was worried you were going to make me regret my purchase. This is pretty comparible but i would still go with the Shield. Good review.
Had 2 of these. Both went back to beretta for failures to feed and failures to eject. And no slide stop is a deal killer! with how often this junk gun double feeds. Nasty double feeds too. After my second one came back and still wouldn't go through more than about 3-4 rounds at a time it ended up in a garbage can. Shortly after I realized how much money it cost and the thought of a criminal getting a hold of it I decided to grab it and to send it back one last time. The second it got back to me with a whole list of replaced parts it got traded in at a big loss. Really wanted to like them. Beretta is an awesome company for sure. Now, they seriously need to scrap this whole gun and try again with a new, much more thought out and tested design.
Mine was FTF on a half dozen different rounds. Had a gunsmith dremmel the ramp and edge of chamber (that's what Beretta does), and still had FTF on almost every 115 gr, or 124 gr. Found ONE round that'll feed every time. Hornady XTP 115 gr hollow points. The round is shorter, and tapered more than the others. It feeds fine. Can't trust the Nano with anything else.
I purchased mine about 4 months ago, I love it. One of my biggest concerns was ease of carry, and i can tell you this is a very easy gun to carry. I carry it two ways, one is an ankle holster, and the other is an inside the waistband holster. It's great with both. I have also shot a quite a few rounds out of it and I have never had a single jam or issue with it. Great gun. Only thing i don't like is the heavy trigger pull.
Last week I bought the Nano. As part of the purchase I got some 115 gr. ammunition. Although I could not find anything about using a particular ammo in the owners manual, I did see several youtube reviews (along with this one) that said the gun would perform better with a heavier bullet. So, I took the 115's back for some Winchester 124's. My wife and I went to the range with it yesterday. The gun performed perfectly. I was very pleased. There's Ramora holster in the pipeline. The Nano will be my EDC.
In seems like EVERY gun brand has a potential for a hiccup...even the so called premium manufacturers like Kimber, Kahr and Sig-Sauer. Thanks for the note.
great review, i just bought 2 of these. i called beretta and was told 115 grain was fine as long as it was up to saami specs, don't use reduced recoil loads. i will only use full power loads
I put Trijicon night sights, a Hogue pinkie grip extension, a Lasermax red laser, and Talon sand paper grip covers to make this one of the best CC pistols around. I also have the 8 round magazine as a backup that makes the grip almost full size.
CC'd one for a year in a Remora holster and I would agree that they are very comfortable to carry. I found the recoil/muzzle rise to be a bit higher than normal for a 9mm but I'm guessing this was due to the higher profile frame and slide setup. My biggest issue was Beretta's lack of support for the gun in the way of accessories. Good luck trying to get those 8rd mags or +2 base plates. I sold it and bought a S&W Shield and couldn't be happier.
Absolutely the best sub compact gun to carry light weight and very accurate. i have put 2000 rounds through it my first box was 115 grain had 2 F T E after that box i went to 124 grain and have not had it fail one time. i love the size it's so easy to conceal. if you are looking for great CHL Gun test the Nano out.
Small point: It's Length, Width, and Height -- with NO "th" on the latter.I believe the Nano would be a great pocket carry.Carried a Tomcat as a backup for a few years. And the PX4 Storm never jammed one time in .40 right out of the boxBeretta products are impressive! Thanks Sootch!
Nice pistol.. my wife and I carry them every day.. we put the Talon grips on them as well. The grips give it a tacky feel with makes the small gun very controllable.
I have and carry concealed allot. I wear allot of cargo type short with a belt and got a leather inside the belt holster. Very nice gun. Not one jam hundreds of rounds later. Highly recommend
ive never had a problem shooting any 115 grain ammo out of my nano ,mfg 2013,eats up federal 115 range ammo,115 hornady cd,115 federal hp,124 grain rem ultimate def, also shot a box of liberty 50gr civil defense, only ever had 2 fte and they were from a box of cheap 124gr range ammo from a company i cant even remember
Just picked this thing up today. The one with the lasermax was on sale for 400 at Cabelas(550 normal). Beretta has a 50 dollar rebate for the thing. Can't complain about having a brand new micro pistol with a laser sight for 350 bucks.
if you don't mind my intrusion, I did research and ask quite a few people that had their Nano sent back for service. They do polish the ramp, but what really seems that fix the problem is the extractor replacement. That's what they did on mine when I sent mine back. Unfortunately, I didn't have chance to shot it afterwards. Now I have a new one, and I'm still having some problems with it. I may send it back this one too. I will decide after shooting some more.
I really like Beretta. I have a PX4 STORM Compact. I also have a Ruger LC9 for CC and was considering this but the weight difference is negligible so...
Love the weapon. Great carry weapon - accurate beyond my expectations - feels great in the hand and completely controllable. I had a small problem with the 8 round mag at first - but stretching the spring helped.
Just bought a used one for my wife, for 250, was an impulse purchase, because I usually watch and read reviews before I make a deal, but guess I got lucky, thanks for the awesome review, as always.
Love my Nano. I've shot 400 rounds of 115 grain inexpensive ammunition with two FTE early on. Surprisingly accurate and pointable. Makes for a very thin and comfortable conceal carry gun using an ITWB holster. Mine shipped with a six and eight round magazine. The trigger pull was rather smooth out of the box and now it is a dream double action pull. I couldn't be happier.
I got me a Beretta nano, but I had to send it back to Beretta. It had 20rds that failed to eject out of a box of 50rds of Hornady 147gr JHP ammo. I'm waiting to hear back from Beretta.
Nice review sootch00, you mentioned features that people normally doesn't, in their reviews. I'm on my second Nano (my first was "lost" in her way back from service due to the FTE's I had with it within almost 1000 rounds), and I'm still having problems with 115 gr (only with 115). I will put a few hundreds rounds more to decide if I send back or not. Although, this FTE's piss me off, I have to say, I love the Nano..! I have others subcompact, and I still carry my Nano as my BUG.
Hi Sootch, another great review as always! I have a Nano with the LaserMax trigger guard laser dialed in at 10 yrds, 14 lb recoil spring, and some nice grip tape from Amazon. I really love it, has been super dependable at the range! I just saw your review of the beretta Tomcat, am wondering how you would compare the two for cc? 6+1 9mm, or 7+1 .32 acp? I prefer the DA/SA of the Tomcat for cc in D/A vs. the Nano D/A only, but DA/SA is what I'm used to in a lot of my guns. And my Nano D/A is feeling pretty darn nice now, lol! Thanks for your feedback, long live the republic!
I love that more guns are using that modular frame style. Serializing the interior parts is a brilliant idea and lends itself to a ton of really fun ideas. I hope this trend leads to a lot of cool and affordable weapon options for everyone.
I really like the stamped sheet metal frames (like this, the Pico, P320, P250, GX4 and some others)... and think it's a better design option than the MIM/cast/machined frames (FCU's or chassis) that most others have. They're every bit as durable and reliable, but are easier and cheaper to produce.
I really wanted to like the Nano when I purchased it last year. However if would not feed target/range rounds. I couldn't just it. That coupled with no extended mags, hardly any holster options, no aftermarket sights, crappy trigger, and the super high bore axis on a striker fired pistol. I traded mine for an M&P Shield. The Shield is a softer shooter with a better trigger and a ton better aftermarket support. And its been 100% reliable.
Didn't say it was, but it is double stacked, a sub compact & awesome. It's all good brother, I have all kinds, just love my G's, mostly carry a G30. The PM9 is a great gun btw, my wife's favorite.
Love Beretta but hate guns that jam or misfire especially those used for concealed carry as your life may depend on them one day. I tried Kahr pm9, Beretta Nano, Beretta storm sub-compact, and they all at one point had jams or FTEs, using premium ammo not cheap stuff. The only TWO that so far didn't jam on me are Glock 43 and Walther PPS M2, single stack slim 9mm pistols.
The Khar PM9 does have a break in period of 200 rounds. I have a MK9 which is considerably more expensive but it runs 100%. The only thing I've ever did after years of shooting was replace the recoil spring assembly. Which was about $17.
Glock 26 is a good option if you own the G19 or 17. The mags are interchangeable. Can even have the 33 rounder under your car seat (if allowed where you live) The G26 I carry in my pocket which is a great option in warm climate where you cannot conceal with a jacket. Not too big at all and still has 10 rounds or 12 or 15 or 17 or 33!!!!!
Great review! I had taken my wife to shoot several small 9mm's (it's the caliber she wanted) and handle many more. I had done the research but she made the decision. She's only 4 ft, 9in tall with small hands. The Nano was her choice for EDC. She likes shooting it and I have to admit, I like it myself. Came with flush mag and extended mag. I'm a little concerned about all the comments by guys who say they are going to buy their wife a Nano. Can't their wives figure out what to get themselves? It's a really personal decision, concerning ergonomics, aesthetics, etc. BTW, no failures using 115s during 500+ rnds.
Love the way you keep the video flow snappy by editing out the pauses between almost every sentence....just like a good commercial. Makes it more pleasant to watch.
I was just thinking.....you never have anything bad (pros-cons) to say about any of your reviews. Do you like every pistol/rifle you have reviewed? I really am just asking a question, not being a wise guy. God bless Sootch.
yes.....least that was the case of the ones i looked at at gunshows......but it's not supposed to be an issue since it's only supposed to lock back on empty mag....
This is my first sub-c I bought and I was lukewarm about it but it's warming up to me. I did have problems with the 115gr (FTF) and read that the Namo was built around the .40 and it feeds heavier like scootch said. With heavier ammo no problem. And now no problems with the lighter loads. Guess it had to break in. One other thing, fast reload=pinched skin on palm. Ouch!
Nano is considerable smaller than the Shield. And the Nano has a much better build quality. Both are great guns. Forget the LCP's they are junk. Throw away guns that will not last long if you do a lot of shooting. Crack frames, broken take down pins, and on and on. Get a pocket gun with all Stainless steel. The trigger on the LCPll sucks. Long loose first stage that feels as if the trigger spring is broke, then a quick Bang after quickly hitting the wall. Pocket guns are for Carry not target shooting.
i got this over the m&p sheild and i am so glad! i filled out the paper work for the m&p and i said no let me see the nano glock and im so happy the mp is junk this gun is way better
The FTE malfunctions with this pistol is a very real and all to common reported problem. Mine was flawless thru the first 1K rounds before I started getting FTE malfunctions with quality ammo. Due to no manual slide lock this is a difficult and time consuming malfunction to clear. If one occurs when you really need it you're screwed. I really liked mine but a carry pistol has to be 100% reliable.
mag318 Just wondering, as I recently bought one, and actually have been posting to this thread my experience so far, what has been your most reliable ammo to date? Just curious as I'd like to know for if/when I do need to use this in self defense, what to keep in the gun. I'm not to the point where I'm gonna carry this gun, as I have others that are far more reliable. Just curious for my own testing. Any input is appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: You are absolutely correct about clearing malfunctions being a pain. This was especially true while at the indoor range as not only am I trying to manipulate the gun, but to do so in compliance with range rules. Much easier outdoor without worrying about direction as much, but still a pain.
Lol, many and I mean many reviews of this gun shooting flawless with thousands of rounds. I have now in the past two months alone shot 2,500 rounds of all kinds of ammo and different weights. And I will say it is the most mild mannered Micro 9mm I have ever shot. You say yours was flawless until 1k rounds? Did you even change out the recoil guide assembly? Which you should do every 800 rounds? You had a flawless round for what could be any number of issues with any gun and you get on the internet and bash it? Get real.
Oh really? I need to check out the HPR then. I have heard some good stuff about Frog Lube, I am going to go ahead and get some of the paste before I go shooting next week, hopefully the Remington 115 grain will work well in my 92A1. Thanks for the info!
I had one carried it for about three months. Nothin unique about it. Decent firearm. I traded it for a Sig P250. Like i said its decent. I Definetly would reccomend for CCW Good Review as Always Semper Fi
Great one stooch. I wanted one for my wife when they came out but backed off because of the bad rap it got shooting ball ammo. Thanks dude wife gets a pistol.:)
mine doesn't feed rounds well with the extended mag. any pressure from you fingers on it causes it to jam up. I like it best with the short mag for that reason. outside from that it's been great. Does have a long trigger pull, a lot longer than my walther ppq and glock 26.
Still deciding between this and an LC9. Both have their advantages. Same price at my gun shop. Your reviews are always informative and like how you merge the "desktop" with the range and still keep the video relatively short, yet long enough to get good info. Unfortunately, you did not solve my decision for me. LOL
The APX was designed in base of this pistol it have similar take down, a chassis that can you switch to others frames and the magazine release button is very similar.
I had a Nano. Trust me, go with the Glock 26. The small difference in thickness will be more than made up for in the trigger, aftermarket support, round capacity, and magazing selection of the Glock. No comparison - none.
I agree, it is sad to be negative. Thanks for all the great videos that you do. I enjoy watching. I have watched this video several times as I am looking for something a little smaller then my M&P 9mm On Beretta's web page they show shooting 1000 rounds after all the lubrication has been removed. Not one jam. Pretty impressive.
I also like the design of the Nano and find it to be an good choice for concealed carry. However, I personally found it to be less accurate than the Glock 26, Springfield XD Sub-Compact 3” or the Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD. This was an excellent review of the Beretta Nano. Please keep up the good work.
If the magazine release has to be switched from side to side, the Nano is not an ambidextrous firearm. Switchable perhaps, but not ambidextrous. The latter is a firearm which can be used in either hand, or by individuals with opposite dominate hands, at any time without modification.
This thing (no disrespect intended) looks to be about the same size as my Beretta 950 .25ACP 😁 Edited to add: interesting, so Beretta did this whole serialized internals thing before Sig. Very cool.
I have never held one, I do want to check on out, I like the almost melted edges, nothing to snag from a pocket is a huge plus, I won't give up my G's, but thats not to say I can't add something else. LLTR

Dont use reduced recoil loads in ANY semi auto pistol. They may be used in Revolvers.

ive never had a problem shooting any 115 grain ammo out of my nano ,mfg 2013,eats up federal 115 range ammo,115 hornady cd,115 federal hp,124 grain rem ultimate def, also shot a box of liberty 50gr civil defense, only ever had 2 fte and they were from a box of cheap 124gr range ammo from a company i cant even remember
Just picked this thing up today. The one with the lasermax was on sale for 400 at Cabelas(550 normal). Beretta has a 50 dollar rebate for the thing. Can't complain about having a brand new micro pistol with a laser sight for 350 bucks.
if you don't mind my intrusion,
I did research and ask quite a few people that had their Nano sent back for service.
I must admit Beretta win on the look deparment on par with walther with it pistols :D
I'm gonna get one of these my nephew told me with my arthritis this would be perfect
115 gr ammo in the nano makes ftf or fte, go 124 gr.
I got me a Beretta nano, but I had to send it back to Beretta. It had 20rds that failed to eject out of a box of 50rds of Hornady 147gr JHP ammo. I'm waiting to hear back from Beretta.
Great video guys. I've checked out the nano and it feels really good in my hands. Thanks for the info. God Bless.
I love my Nano- Sootch...awesome review. You're one of the best!
I AGREE BRO
Looks like a great gun. Wouldn't have a use for it since I wont be able conceal it. Congrats on Beretta using your vid
I carry the Beretta Nano. Your review is very thorough.
This would make a nice full-size handgun.
Awesome video. I bought mine a few years ago and enjoy it a lot . I have a crimson trace on mine.
Nice, good review. I just won one of these as a pick o the table. Spotted it and wanted a nice slim for cc.
you should do an update to this and go over different frame options...
Well made review! Love the Nano, I carry it as a back-up on duty.
Great review on the Nano 9mm.
I bought this gun , and already have an extension to.be more confortable I’m glad you recommended
The Beretta Nano is as beautuful as are the legendary reviews by Sootch00. Both Perfection!
Wouldn't that be the APX? Different gun but it looks very similar.
Those pens last forever, had some from 7 years ago that still work
Sootch, you do a nice job with your reviews. Brief, concise, but still reasonably comprehensive.
Great review! I have one, and love it.
Just picked one of these last night from my boss in a gun trade. I'm looking forward to shooting it.
You're my favorite sootch, when I want an honest opinion you're the man. I'm debating between this and the px4. God bless buddy.
What did you ended up getting?
Always good to see a rational and intelligent reviewer. So now what: CZ PCR or Nano?
awesome video, awesome gun...this is the gun i am getting my wife for her CCW.
Love the way you keep the video flow snappy by editing out the pauses between almost every sentence....just like a good commercial. Makes it more pleasant to watch.
Hello: I feel you are right about the 124 Gr. Bullet, and the 147 Gr. Bullet can not develop it's full potential in that short barrel.
Ouch!
I picked the m&p shield over this gun. I think I made a great choice overall!!
Dewayne I chose the G26 and love it. I went with the LCP II for my pocket pistol. Love it as well
Nano is considerable smaller than the Shield.
The shields are junk. Especially the single stack
@@JoseLuis-pf6md shields only come in single stack. How is a shield junk?
Much easier outdoor without worrying about direction as much, but still a pain.
only limp wristing causes that problem and shooting 115 grain bullets
I Definetly would reccomend for CCW
Good Review as Always
Semper Fi
Would you consider a review for a FNH PS90, there aren't as many reviews or good quality reviews for my favorite rifle.
I got a brand new one for $250! I’m excited to take it to the range.
Sweet!!!
YOU SIR GAVE AN ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING PRESENTATION.
I'M STARTING DROS ON MINE TONIGHT.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
Still deciding between this and an LC9. Both have their advantages. Same price at my gun shop. Your reviews are always informative and like how you merge the "desktop" with the range and still keep the video relatively short, yet long enough to get good info. Unfortunately, you did not solve my decision for me. LOL
I BOUGHT ONE OF THE FIRST NANOS. VERY UNDERRATED FIREARM
Gotta love the hollow tips😍
I agree, it is sad to be negative. Thanks for all the great videos that you do. I enjoy watching. I have watched this video several times as I am looking for something a little smaller then my M&P 9mm
On Beretta's web page they show shooting 1000 rounds after all the lubrication has been removed. Not one jam. Pretty impressive.
Around 1000 rounds 115gr & no problems , Love my nano
..and GOD BLESS YOU !!! By the way what is the maximum target accuracy and Range ??
Great review I love the nano
I also like the design of the Nano and find it to be an good choice for concealed carry. However, I personally found it to be less accurate than the Glock 26, Springfield XD Sub-Compact 3” or the Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD.
This was an excellent review of the Beretta Nano. Please keep up the good work.
I bought the nano after owning an xds, pps, and other makes which I traded them in for the replacements. After many years I still own a nano
Excellent review
Very good review, informative, and detailed. subbed.
I love my Nano but have had some issues with 115 grain FTE.
It seems to be nice but the trigger reset seems a little long. Maybe I haven't noticed it before in other pistols.
the ability to change the poly frame option is similar to the sig 250.
I love mine! Works best with heavier rounds, though. At least for me it did.
Like always you do a great job reviewing guns. I think there are much better options in this class of pistol. In 40 it would not be pleasant
the glock is a more practical option for winter carry but if you want a pocket gun go with the nano or some thing of similar size
If the magazine release has to be switched from side to side, the Nano is not an ambidextrous firearm. Switchable perhaps, but not ambidextrous. The latter is a firearm which can be used in either hand, or by individuals with opposite dominate hands, at any time without modification.
i am the world biggest Sootch00 fan
This thing (no disrespect intended) looks to be about the same size as my Beretta 950 .25ACP 😁 Edited to add: interesting, so Beretta did this whole serialized internals thing before Sig. Very cool.
I have never held one, I do want to check on out, I like the almost melted edges, nothing to snag from a pocket is a huge plus, I won't give up my G's, but thats not to say I can't add something else. LLTR
Sootch thank you for all the videos you do,for your support for 2A !!!
Beautiful pistol,i'm a berreta fan.
This pistol isn't much small for your hand?
Great review as usual. Shame conceal carry is illegal in NI . But I am a berreta fan.
