    I'm glad you addressed the topic of your friendship with Sydney and Tommy and your feelings of the changes they made at your former home. I too, agree wholeheartedly, Sydney and Tommy have become faithful stewards of the home and made updates to the infrastructure and integrity of the historical home and older trees. They have exhibited nothing but love and respect for the home and that would make any former homeowner happy and proud of the home they left in the care of others. Sydney and Tommy have put their own stamp on the home with some bold and creative styles. I take my hat off to them for creating an environment that speaks to them - because that's all that matters ❤ Linda, it is hard to go back to a home where we raised our children - but the memories are in your heart, and one day, you will be able to go back. The home has been very lucky to have you and Hubs and now Sydney and Tommy care for it. ❤❤❤❤

    We built a house after our kids left, and I left my gardens behind-beautiful live oaks, stone pathways, established beds-but, we got so bogged down in the building and then creating a beautiful outdoor space, I did not have time to miss any of it. My style of heavy garden maintenance is not everyone’s so I do not judge the buyers of our old house at all. I miss elements of my old garden, but the benefits of my new gardens are so much greater, and each day is a new opportunity to try something new! Your new home and gardens are spectacular, and I have enjoyed this new journey.

    The lovely white hydrangeas and growth of the redbuds I think are adding some real LV romance and soul
    to the front garden. The hobbity curve of the cottage roof is so great, and I think all your curved and rounded shapes
    in trees, boxwood, and flowers really enhance it. Appreciate all you guys, but admit I delight in your sculptural talent, Linda, wherever you are. Love the shapes!

    The garden at your previous home was elegant and I loved the fence and gate at your driveway’s edge and the view as you entered into the backyard. Your current garden is fun and has an urban sophistication. I like the number of seating options for gatherings or alone time. Your special touch has been carried forward to your new home. I’m with you on not needing to visit your previous home. Best to hold your memories dear and remember it as it was.

    Hi Linda
    What you should try to remember when you do visit Sydney and Tommy,is that they have not descrated your style of planting there to make it their own. If there was a total wipeout of your ideas,then i could understand your hesitation. When i see their updates, I'm amazed how similar it still looks. They have planting failures like any gardner,and new additions too, which helps them find an equilibrium. The pets enjoy it as well,with respect❤

    • @staciejackson7497
      @staciejackson7497 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I haven’t ever had the impression that Linda would think anything was desecrated. It seems she is just trying to emotionally distance herself and her memories before she can take it in with clear eyes.

    • @77sun222
      @77sun222 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@staciejackson7497 perhaps descration is a harsh word. Maybe I should have said that to my mind, Sydney and Tommy have an empathetic style of garden to Linda Vater. They have not,for example turned the whole front garden into a parking lot,or the back garden into a baseball field. That would be an emotional heartache for anyone to take. Linda Vater is a strong soul. The changes are minimal.

    Linda,I love your new home and gardens.We also downsized our home you will laugh we moved next door to our old house.😂 It was strange at first four years later.We were so busy remodeling and making new outdoor living spaces like you.We are in the sun .That was so needed shade!!!The people that bought our house have changed just about the whole yard.They took down 3 rock walls that I loved and pretty much did away with all my flowers.They did let me get some of them .Her husband said flowers are not worth the trouble of such short bloom time.!!!😢Made me sad all well I planted more here 😊.Yea change is hard but as we are getting older I am glad we made the right decision.This is still so much easier for us.Thank the lord. ❤I do enjoy your channel so much.Donna

    I have left behind several gardens when making moves when my husband was working. They are 850 miles away in two other states. Visiting them is not happening.
    Sydney and Tommy are good stewards of the Fairytale House. They have made changes, but the changes look nice. The house and garden are well cared for. Your new garden commands your time and attention now.
    I got a new back garden without moving. Tornadoes embedded in a September,2019 ripped out all my big mature oak trees, pine trees, hydrangeas, and most of my old azaleas. It went from dappled shade to full HOT sun. I have missed those big trees every single day of the last nearly five years. Big mature trees can be replaced at GREAT expense, but I don't have the budget for that. I am living with what I have. I really wish I did not have deer and rabbits, which eat so many of my plants. Argh!

    I must say, the window box is finally looking like Linda Vater! It was a little chaotic in the beginning. But, that picture of the old one is melting my heart!!!!!!! Especially the one with the purple pansies!!!!!! Maybe that is what I am feeling.. I am not a symmetry person. Thats why the other house with its high pitch over the front door and the arched side porch and the meandering stone wall, was more my aesthetic. But you are right, the boxwood and the topiary still lend the Linda Vater look here.

Totally different architecture, different size of areas, topography, shade and sun requirements, location, different time line in your life and our tastes change according to our surroundings. Why people need to get so involved in other people’s business? I thought about that many times but is not my place to ask to how is your relationship with the new owner of your former house, and of course all the following questions. ~ Those things and questions are so personal and even if we think about it we have to be sensitive not to ask. Well Linda that is my opinion and my take on this topic. I have to say that no matter what house you have you are so talented that you can transform anything into beauty, ..garden or interior. Follow you for so ,so many years, thinking about one day travel to Oklahoma from the west part of the country and go n visit your precious,peaceful, captivating gardens. Thank you for allowing us to see this miracle of land with just dirt at the very beginning to see the transformation and grow to an amazing happy garden in front of our eyes. Sorry about my spelling, English is my 2nd language!

Your old home is a fairy tale for sure, but your new home will be a fairy tale when you are all done. I love what Sydney and Tommy have done to your old home to make it their own. As a gardener, it's easy to love and learn from everyone's different styles! The progression in your new home is amazing and it looks incredible in such a short amount of time! I love your yard in the Spring in the old house but overall I love your new yard in the front and back in the new house!! You have so much more color thru out all the seasons!! I can see how the shade trees stopped you from planting more flowers in the Fairy tale house. Have a wonderful trip to Scotland!!!

    🩷🐰 oh my goodness! I just noticed they rabbit in overalls in the Pom Pom topiary 😂🌸
    love it!❣️ you have that in you current garden I hope you still have the bun bun..
    You’ll know when it is time.. you have many beautiful “roots” , as you say it, at the other house, young couple, raising 2 boys as well as creating your lively hood.
    The nay sayers, zip it 🤐 🤫 everyone’s journey special to them!!
    This is a prime example of giving Grace and gardening. There’s so much to learn every year and every circumstance in every property.
    Love you Linda and team!!

    The window box with bubblegum pink and chartreuse is FABULOUS!!! Add some white to cool it off slightly...trailing white lobelia or bacopa, or white petunias or supercells. Claus Dalby is a master at chartreuse plus white plus 1 color!

    My husband and I recently popped back to the house we had when we had our daughter as a youngster and the current owners had made it look like it was abandoned and not lived in….it totally broke my heart. Fencing was broken, grass was out of control…it was awful! It looked sooo beautiful when we had it. It must give you and your husband some comfort to know that, although Sydney has changed things a bit, she and her husband love the house and are ploughing time, money and effort into keeping it beautiful…..unlike the new owners of our old house! 🥹🇬🇧🧡💚. Have a super time over this side of the pond in Scotland 😃.

    Your comment was very kind in reference to Sidney. Oh course her style will be different than yours. Different generation. Possibly people need to understand, you left the other house, no one forced you. As we age, change is good, why because stagnant.

    I totally understand why you can't go back...We raised our kids in our old house of 26 years, but love our new place. I can't go back, mainly because they knocked our home down, understandably. It was built with no insulation and was very small. I didn't garden there, but if I went back, I sure would know what to do now! Thanks so much for your videos. Have a great trip to Scotland.

    Trees need so much upkeep. We had trees in front of our home BUT after hurricane Maria hit us in Puerto Rico in 2017. We had to cut them down… so scared of them falling on the homes of my neighbors. Plus we are just too old to keep the roof cleared of leaves. Our roof is flat and was just like a basket for the leaves. Love your garden. ❤️🌹

    🌿💗 I guess it's human nature to think about the past and the future, but the here and now! Wow! I'm astonished by what you have created in a year and a half. It's not even fair to try and compare what came to be over 20 plus years. You just have that Midas touch and je ne sais quoi! 💗🌿 (I found you in 2019 and have never left nor second guessed your decisions.)

    We applied Milky Spores twice for ( Japanese Beetles)/ at the correct time,to no avail,did it help or make a difference, There are pheromone traps to hang,but,we always thought,it would draw from other areas to our yard. After speaking to someone,that has worked in greenhouse/ landscaping,to hang the trap,far away from the Roses,and others they prefer,in a back distant location of your property. So ,I think we are in for a bad year,we might have to try,and some Neem oil.
