Everyone blaming Shiro, could be Raya too, i mean last it was only a single puppy too, so maybe she doesn't produce much eggs. I mean Shiro has many offspring.
It's very possible that Raya's not as super-fertile as her own mum. She came from a large litter (I think 5-6?), but Suki's own were usually of just 3. As of now, she's only had one puppy, so it could simply be that she doesn't produce as many eggs. Nothing wrong with it of course, but it's funny that everyone immediately assumes it's because Shiro is older than her. Like, no. Dogs males stay fertile WAY into their older year, their sperm quantity and quality remains in tact (which is WHY studs are bred until so late in their life - and in some countries even has their semen preserved for posthumous artificial mounts, tho that's almost always done with larger breeds or ones that have difficulties with "traditional" mating, like bulldogs). And it's even funnier everyone thinks dog matings automatically translate in puppies, when in fact it's just as much "up in the air" as is every attempted _human_ pregnancy (and we ought to know in the year of our lord 2023 that *not* every human intercourses result in babies... and we are a *most* fertile species, with females being fertile about once per month, which is unheard-of among most other living creatures)

Male canids can successfully mate well into their senior years. Age has nothing to do with it. It's the female who eventually can no longer reproduce, but as long as she has a heat cycle, she is able to reproduce. Health issues also play a role.
@@ChristineZangariAge is a factor. As male dogs get older, their quantity of sperm decreases, as well as the quality - which can result in smaller or no litters, miscarriages, or puppies in poor health. You're humanizing them, & Raya accepted & presented herself to Shiro. She wasn't forced into mating with him. Oliver & H-#2 have never forced their dogs into mating & always let nature take its course. If she presented to Shiro, then most likely Raya would have rejected Rio. It's not who their humans want them to breed with. It's the dogs who choose their compatible mate, & their personalities don't play such an extensive role. Males can mate well into their senior years as long as they are healthy. They are still viable to reproduce. Age is not as much a factor for the male in canine reproduction as it is for the female's. Like humans, once a female's heat cycle ends she is no longer viable to increase their pack in #'s. But the males can still be viably stable to keep reproducing into very old age.
To Oliver and Hooman #2-Don't be sad. Raya will have plenty of chances to breed again. (Maybe Shiro is firing duds at his age?) As for Raya, she can go back to being a normal, happy Shiba.
it's good that she is not pregnant, it's better to leave at least 1 heat before mating again anyway (preferably 2) ❤💕💞 - my vet doesn't like back to back matings as he thinks it's too hard on the momma
@margb9893 I don't know if you're aware, but all potat videos were all pre-recordings from an earlier time. Oji's current videos were from last year & he is currently 6 weeks in the current video uploads. Next week, 05 Sept., Oji will already be 11 months old. He's already bigger than Raya. Oji was born on 05/Oct/2023. This is already Raya's 2nd heat cycle post Oji. It is only required for the female to skip 1 cycle before her next mate to give her body a chance to hormonally regulate & to make sure her cycle remains normal, & it has. It's standard practice for breeders all over the world to skip a females first heat cycle post giving birth, not 2. It's actually a law in professional breeding.
@@marjb9893 The point is she HAD a break between Oji and this mating. It's normal for _all_ breeds to take a heat for the female to recover before she's bred again. All serious breeders do that, Oliver and Hooman 2 included.

@@gerrymcwilliam I know that I am stating my opinion plus she likes Rio a lot and picked him the first time ending with her giving birth to the little prince. Everyone is allowed their own opinion.
@@KazukoLight The first time she had picked Shiro. The second time she picked Rio, rejecting both Shiro and Kai (I). Now she, again, has picked Shiro. Serious breeders like Oliver and Hooman 2 always let their females chose the male of their liking, and there's absolutely no saying which one she might pick time after time. Each heat is different and each time there's something different the female looks for in the male. So the next time she may again present herself to Shiro. Or to Rio. Or to Kai. Or turn down *all three* and look for yet someone else. Canine reproduction works in very deep layers that we humans don't even fully grasp - since we can only decipher the vocal and postural language of dogs, but not their scent language, which is FAR more complex than either of the former two.

I think Shiro too old to be fertile anymore find different Male
it's good that she is not pregnant, it's better to leave at least 1 heat before mating again anyway (preferably 2) ❤💕💞 - my vet doesn't like back to back matings as he thinks it's too hard on the momma
This was her 2nd heat. It's been almost a year since she had Oji.
@margb9893
I don't know if you're aware, but all potat videos were all pre-recordings from an earlier time.
@@ChristineZangari I was merely stating what MY vet prefers - however I don't have Shibas - my breed for the last 45 years has been Dobermanns.
@@marjb9893 The point is she HAD a break between Oji and this mating. It's normal for _all_ breeds to take a heat for the female to recover before she's bred again. All serious breeders do that, Oliver and Hooman 2 included.
@@cristinapezzica6714 as I said, I was just stating my experience from MY VET and my opinion - no need for you to continue stating the same point over and over - have nice day
That’s a shame it’s not good news this time. Although I bet Shiro will be thrilled! Waifu #2 will be in heat again before long, and then he gets another chance for bumbum! 😆
Raya was kind of scared. I didn't see anything when looking along with the vet. Raya may need a little more time but, I believe she will become pregnant with a Shiba or two before long.
Thank goodness I don't want Raya to have pup after pup, considering her first was so big and uncomfortable for her.
It has been a good gap between her having Oji.
@@gerrymcwilliamYes, it would be almost an entire year between the births if she were pregnant this time.
She's not having pup after pup. This was Raya's 2nd heat cycle since Oji. pft!
Pues no pasa nada...así descansa mi Raya❤❤❤
she clearly doesnt like shiro. you should try rio again
She mated with shiro how does that mean she doesn't like him? 😅😅😅
She chose to mate with Shiro. It's who she presented herself to, not Rio. Oliver & Hooman #2 have never forced Suki or Raya to mate with Shiro. Some comments are better left unposted. 🙄
Hi Oliver and Hooman No. 2 - As Momma Raya is no doubt disappointed that she doesn't have buns in the oven, can you please do me a favor and give Raya an extra-large hug and kiss? Tell her that we're thinking of her and just LOVE her to bits! 😘 Thank you!
Who is the father???
No one. Raya isn’t pregnant this time. No puppies were found.
Pls be three insolents ❤❤❤
Raya's not pregnant, fren.
Sorry but I'm team Raya x Rio. Kind of a relief she isn't preggo because that means she can have more with husbando Rio.
It's up to Raya who she mates with
@@gerrymcwilliam I know that I am stating my opinion plus she likes Rio a lot and picked him the first time ending with her giving birth to the little prince. Everyone is allowed their own opinion.
@@KazukoLight i know
@@KazukoLight The first time she had picked Shiro.
