@@magicalcuriosities7062 I made a video some 3 months ago about how to make moon water. I think these bottles are ideal, next time I will use one of those!!
I absolutely love these! I have been doing polymer clay for a little over 3 years and I love using mica powders for a pearly finish! Here is some advice for the next time you do polymer clay: 1. An AMAZING shop that I 100% recommend for ab powders, mica powders, pearl powders, and basically any other pigment you can think of is Miniature Sweet @t They have SO MANY different art supplies and despite being in another continent the shipping is very fast and very cheap. 2. Conditioning for 5 minutes is not necessary (I know that you were just guessing and that you have the pasta machine anyway, but this is just for people watching this who don't know) just conditioning for a minute is fine, or just conditioning as you sculpt. 3. You can use aluminum foil as a base. So that your pieces are not too heavy, and so that you do not have to use nearly as much polymer clay, you can put some aluminum foil as a base and put polymer clay over it. Unlike in a microwave, aluminum foil does not damage ovens. 4. I do not know if you knew this already, but you can mix different colors and brands of polymer clay to get beautiful, unique colors. 5. Polymer clay does NOT get worse over time. Many of the colors that I still use today I have had for many years. Conditioning, sculpting, baking, and everything else does NOT get worse over time. You can have the package open lying on a shelf collecting dust for a VERY long time, as long as you don't leave it in the sun long enough that it can actually start to harden, the quality and usability is not going to change. Polymer clay is oil based not water based, so being left out is not going to make it harden. 6. Polymer clay makes shiny things matte. In my experience polymer clay makes glass, resin, and many other glossy things look matte. What I mean is, if you rub polymer clay on a glass surface, it is going to look matte. This even happens when you touch a shiny surface if you don't wash your hands after using polymer clay. This is not permanent. You can use a gloss, or even a nail buffer to bring the shine back. 7. DO NOT USE CLEAR NAIL POLISH AS A GLOSS EVER!!! Glossing after using mica powders is ALWAYS necessary there are many glosses and varnishes that you can purchase at your local craft store that are perfect for this. You can even use resin! However, while clear nail polish looks good at first, after time it makes polymer clay look yellow, and even starts to degrade the surface. 8. If you have a clay that is too hard there are some solutions to that: You can add liquid clay to soften it very quickly, but many people do not have liquid clay so another option is to just condition it until it is soft, also there are some colors of clay (like pearl and sometimes translucent) that soften your clay while not really changing the color. 9. You might have the opposite problem with polymer clay and it is too soft. 2 ways you can fix this are: Putting it in the freezer, this does not change it for very long, so if you are cutting a slice from a polymer clay cake and you need it to not get smushed, put it in the freezer for at least 10 minutes (this change does not last very long but it does temporarily harden it). Or, you can put it in between 2 pieces of paper for about 30 minutes. This does harden it until you condition it a lot. I know that was a lot, but I just wanted to give you some advice if you plan to use polymer clay again! Thank you so much for this AMAZING tutorial!
You should always seal Mica powder as you will invariably need to dust these at some point. Also, if you use it in the kitchen they will need wiped down. Varathane Floor Finishes do not react poorly with the clay and they offer Gloss, Satin, and Matte Finishes.
If you are looking for mica powders, pearl powders, ab powders, heat sensitive pigment, light sensitive pigment, and basically any other pigment you can think of, I DEFINITELY recommend Miniature Sweet.
These are really cool, the end result is beautiful. I like how you use the wire to hold them secure better, pretty clever idea. I know a few people who would love a whole lot of these cute bottles. I also like that you could do it to any sized glass bottle. Thanks for sharing.
@@magicalcuriosities7062 I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. I suspect you're right, that I'll end up having to hot-glue the glass in, but we'll see.

I get mine from hobby lobby. Every 2 weeks they have a sale for 50% off and they have a really great variety of bottles. Michaels arts and crafts is also a great source. the glass recycling center is another good source or ask your friends for their cool looking bottles they don't want anymore. you can also often find really cool bottles for pretty cheap at antique malls. Good luck on your bottle hunting quest!
@@magicalcuriosities7062 haha that is exactly what this is; a bottle hunting quest! Haha thank you SO VERY MUCH! I did check Michaels with no luck. This has been a struggle lol c: I greatly appreciate the helping hand! I will be back and share my adventure!^^~
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised she's missing out on an opportunity to post Amazon affiliate links; make some money for herself while helping us find supplies.
@@NoJusticeNoPeace @Tammy Thurston - - Michaels Crafts just expanded their mica powder collection. It is huge. You can get pretty much whatever you want. Also, www.madmicas.com/ is a good source for biodegradable and vegan/cosmetic grade mica pigments.
I'll have to look into that Amazon thing. I've not heard of it. Lol. 🤷🏼♀️ I'm new to all this youtube stuff a bit still. If you live in the US I know they have these at joanns, michaels, and hobby lobby. My favorite for both is hobby lobby. I think I would like to put flowers instead of crystals! And put some mini trees on it
Luv this! ❤️👍😍
Gonna try! Question? You don’t have to dry your clay?

I think I might try this using cement and a little sand.
That would be really cool. Does cement stick to glass? I suppose if not it could be glued. Im intruiged by the idea.

I think michaels has the best supply of crystal beads compared to joann or hobby lobby. But you can also just search for quartz crystal beads online
I can't wait to do these! (Not like I don't have time or anything) 😂

Can you use any glass bottle to go in the oven?
