What makes it more scary is that humans only discovered 10% of the ocean and some other rumors like the megalodon still lurking in the ocean and the Bloop
And also know that around 80% of the ocean has not been discovered/unmapped yet, which means that a huge amount of ocean creatures are still unknown until this day...
Actually, i see a nightmare today. Me and my friends was jumping at the ice floes and my foot slipped. I I was sinking as I tried to get out of the water. I wasnt able to. And I disappeared into the water. After that, I saw a screen that said "game over." And I woke up and started crying. I drank as little water as I could that day and That's how I became a victim of thalassophobia
For me if it was of me doing a achallange at a Beach on a raff in the middle of nowhere in the ocean I ended up slipping and falling and three sharks surrounded me and there was a deep void under me like the ocean in irl
My nightmares when i was in ship and i jumped off and i realised its dark in below and i trought there and i hear a suspicious sound and i was say Help and the ship ran away so i lost that why i havd nightmares
Has been mapped, there's a big difference. But I can assure you that creatures like leviathan class lifeforms in sabnautica don't exist, we would know by know ever tho we haven't explored all of the sea
I think it's not just the one thing over the other for me. I am scared of the ocean both because of the creatures, the unknown nature of it and the fear of drowning, the pressure and the sheer dark depts all combine to give me the phobia.
i don't relate to this, but i truly wish no one related to it because living without any fear of the ocean and its creatures and whats in it is such a freeing feeling. i grew up by the ocean and got a open water scuba course at 12 years old, so i have never really been afraid of the ocean or its creature
I love this. I think that the ocean is beautiful but my fear is of the dark parts of it. I love that you have a good experience with the ocean and it's lovely to hear from people who don't have this fear aswell as the people who do
@@phobiatingz7429 thank you!! i really hope one day you get to experience the ocean without any fear (if you want). its almost indescribable, euphoric even. the ocean has always felt more like a home for me, and i love it so hopefully one day you can love it just as much too!

This is so true! Everyone always makes fun of me for having thalassophobia because they don’t understand that im not afraid of the ocean, im afraid of what i cant see in the ocean and how i have no control over it
For me it’s both, I’ve learned that there are loads of deadly animals that can kill you in shallow ocean, they can blend in the sand and are very dangerous and poisonous if you step on them
Nobody is scared OF the ocean, There afraid of what might HAPPEN in the ocean. Nobody is afraid of heights, there afraid of the fall. Nobody is scared of needles, there scared of what the needles do.
Relatable, I get so scared when I see a mossy log in the water, or when I can't see through the water and something brushes my leg. Respect for all them divers out there man, like, me seeing statues under water would make me leave a trail of bubbles because of how fast I got out of the water
One thing is having fun on the beach, looking at the beautiful sights of the sea and swim in the warm sea. Another thing is to be in the middle of the ocean with dark waters under you,and be several metres under the surface.
Finally. People who understands Thalassophobia! I see so many people just chalk it up to monsters in the ocean, no no no, it's the fear of the vast nothingness in the ocean.
For me its the abyssal aspect of it, like a fear of hights but with depths, looking into the ocean knowing how deep it is and not being able to see the bottom just terrifies me like if I fall in I'll just sink like a stone all the way to the bottom, even seeing this in lakes or ponds puts me off balance.
Mine is both..it's like the water from the beach can drag you into the vast ocean, you'll be stuck there and then you'll sink down and down and down until there's nothing to see except darkness..
I used to have this phobia. My uncle bribed me into going out on the ocean on his fishing boat to fish. I was about 14. I can’t swim very well so I kept a life jacket on. Randomly my dad pushed me in the water and my uncle drove away leaving me behind. They came back after a couple minutes to get me. They were laughing so hard as they pulled me out of the water. I was so mad. More mad than I’ve ever been in my life. When my dad pointed out that I didn’t seem scared I was like “no shit, I’m way to angry to feel anything else.” He was like “if your not scared what’s the problem?” That seemed so dumb to me at the time. But I don’t have this phobia after that somehow. Now if only exposure could help me get over my kosmemophobia and maquillaphobia It would be great.
as a worker at the north sea. thats nothing compared to what me and the lads experienced. heck we even saw one of our best friend get caught up in a 20 - 25 foot rouge wave and drown right there. his body is not even recovered yet.
We have explored 5% of all oceans and because of that I am afraid that I will swim and suddenly some unknown creature will grab me from the dark depths, which I didn't even know existed.
Idk why but ever since I was a kid, I was FASCINATED by the second images, I never know why I was not scared of that stuff but I just find it beautiful and I was never scared of it, I go into the ocean fully expecting every danger and I’m ok with it
