The Gravel War was a fight that lasted for centuries. This conflict was born from the deadliest sibling rivalry between Blutarch and Redmond Mann. The situation only got worse when their secret brother that had been stolen by an eagle returned to claim what was his. The Mann Family and the Team Fortress storyline is absolutely crazy and in this series, I am going to explain it.
In this video, I explore each member of the Mann family and how they contributed to The Gravel War, Mann vs. Machine, Australium and the various other events that take part in Team Fortress 2.

Team Fortress lore goes hard. There's a lot of other stuff before the Manns' history, like Shakesperacles, the strongest writer to man inventing rocket launchers and the two story house (and by extention Rocket Jumping), and George Washington, who invented stairs.

Has anyone else noticed Olivia Mann's weird amber pupils? The comic gives literally every other character simple black pupils, but intentionally pulls away from that established rule for Olivia. The ONLY other time we see characters with amber pupils is when they've overdosed on Australium, and that feels TOO deliberate.
Did Grey Mann genetically modify Olivia with Australium, perhaps? He mentioned he had far greater plans for the Australium than immortality... maybe Olivia was the prototype for these "greater plans?"
Maybe grey banged his wife while having the Australiam device
So it's just in genes of his children
Maybe Olivia is a Robot more advanced than the Robot mercs
She's so cute and creepy looking at the same time.
writers gave her a bit of australium, as a treat.
TF2's lore is... ridiculous. But it's also very interesting and captivating. Unlike most VALVE games, it's not afraid to make it's story so comedic in premise and I like that. But I find it SO impressive that this lore can be so silly in its concept, but it tells such a captivating story too. It strikes the perfect balance between stupidly funny and fascinatingly cohesive and well put together.
Now the only question is... if someone were to make lore for a game like Garry's Mod, what would they create...?

Wait, Helen (the administrator) is the child of Elizabeth (Maan's nursemaid)?
I thought the Administrator WAS Elizabeth just going by a new name, hence why when she uses the last of the funny gold stuff at the end of the comics she wears a dress in the style of the mid to late 1800's.
I thought the same. She had also kept herself alive. I did read somewhere that a developer claimed they were different people though. Although I would disagree, I can't go against the words of a developer 😂

I was still smiling the whole way through
One of my favourite aspects of the TF2 lore is the importance of gravel. Of all the resources in the world for this entire decade-spanning, life taking, earth-shaking feud, I LOVE that it's over something so _entirely_ not worth it.
Technically with this taking place in the late 60s early 70s, it could take place in the half life/portal universe. Maybe the teleportation tests that black Mesa was working on was inspired by the Australium teleporters lol.
Combine be smooth brain, they didn't use Australium.

@@self-proclaimedanimator It wouldn't reach the meme potential like our current time but it would be an interesting title to be talked... through for a niche fanbase. I'm pretty against the idea of connecting everything to Half Life. The reason L4D2 and TF2 are golden mine of meme is because they distant themselves from the seriousness and also the world of Half Life. I love Portal, don't get me wrong. But it will benefit more if it's a standalone story on its own.
At least Valve actually fleshed out TF2 lore unlike blizzard who barely mentions much about the omnic crisis.

They didn't underestimate gravel, the brothers thought useless sand was gravel, causing Zephaniah to have a bruh moment so big that he died
The gravel no matter how small have some bits of metal in it and America was capitalizing infrastructure and Roads and other materials gravel is the basics

I love TF2. Some wacky Looney-Tunes logicked human world with a bit of Norman Rockwell and other mid-century Americana aesthetics. The absurdity of the people and world is great. Like stairs being invented by Abraham Lincoln after someone else invented rocket-jumping when they invented a two-storey house without stairs. Also, love that Abraham Lincoln was the pyro during an early group of Gravel War mercs. XD

The Alamo wasn’t a Spanish fortress but a Mission, a Mission was a Spanish Catholic encampment designed to keep natives and convert them to Christianity. But was later used as a makeshift fort by the Texans. (Fortresses don’t leave a wall missing, the Alamo did)
