That has to be the most useful interview yet. Having been to Rugby several times (local service area to me) I cannot stress enough how easy this will make motorway driving for EV owners. They just need to address the lack of AC chargers in Rugby to get 5 * reviews.
Thanks. Sam was so interesting to talk to and his passion for his business really comes through. Also great to hear more about their plans going forward. They’re going to be a huge player in the charging space.
Great session. It would also be great if there was a sign on the route or by the forecourt to say EV charging is available like a petrol station currently provides as you cannot detect any points without an app currently when on the move.
With 24 DC chargers not sure that’ll be a problem for a while yet! But yes that’s a worthwhile suggestion for future as adoption grows. More cars are starting to build in live availability display to their onboard satnav and I think that will become more common in future, so that would also help.
I'm envious, would be great to have more multiple chargers in Australia. That's how you get people into EVs. I discovered a little issue with the ipace charging that I've never seen written about. Every now and then I plugged in my ac charging cable and the ipace refuses to charge. I have finally found the reason. When I pause charging using wattcat and then remove the cable it won't restart charging until I use wattcat' s resume changing button. Surely ipace should reset itself when the cable is removed.
Things are definitely moving in the right direction here in the UK. These kind of facilities are rare at the moment, but there are more of them coming. I don’t think it will be too long n not before these (and large hubs from other companies) are dotted around all over the place. GridServe really hurt the ground running and threw down the gauntlet to the established networks. Hopefully they’ll rise to the challenge. It’s an exciting time for EV owners here!
Sorry. I forgot to comment on your second point. That’s an odd one. My car doesn’t behave in that way. When I unplug it, it resets the pause command so it charges again next time I plug it in. 🤷🏼♂️

Really enjoyed this one. What a great thumbnail
Thanks! I’d originally chosen a different thumbnail but then this moment leapt out at me while editing. I had a blast making this video with you both.

@@AbuDhabiDude great, thats what it should do. I will try it again soon and see if its repeatable.
Amazing interview Alex
Thanks Martin! He really was a great guest. Thoroughly enjoyed making this one. Can’t wait to try out a Gridserve.
Looks like a great interview. Is it possible to index the discussion with topic chapters for people to jump to sections of interest?
That’s a good idea. Thanks! It’ll take me some time but I’ll see what I can do. 👍🏻
