It was a pity that we had to stop at the bottom of the ridge because of my buddy's health situation. Hope I can go again sometime with my son. Great video and beautiful music!
great video and perspective of the trail up to clouds rest..will be going beginning to mid june and plan on camping up at the top again like i did a few years back....
Thank you! That sounds incredible, I think Ill add that to my own person bucket list ha. Ive hiked up half dome at night but havnt been on top of clouds rest at night...sounds like fun...
I took some unnecessary risks and for the most part it's really not all that narrow (only certain sections appeared that way since I took it by choice). You can always turn around if it's outside your comfort zone - no harm in crawling either ha
Thanks so much David, yes the top was amazing. Ive been to several other viewpoints in Yosemite (half dome, glacier point, el kap), but clouds rest had the best view by far, it certainly was incredible!
Thank you for recording this! I am definitely very afraid of heights, but my husband and I are heading up to Yosemite next month and I really want to go for it. We will see :)
Thanks for sharing Jeremy! Saw your comment on AllTrails and just stunning. Have a permit to hike Half Dome in early September. Considering adding this hike to our agenda also!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it Elyse. Half dome is incredible, have a great time. I definitely recommend clouds rest if you can fit it in. Might be best to break them up into 2 hikes - to do half dome and clouds rest in a single go will make for a long day but certainly possible. Easiest way to access clouds rest is from the back of Yosemitie NP from Tenaya lake - in my opinion much easier hike compared to half dome.
Jeremy, good to note! We would absolutely break them up into separate hikes. We think Clouds Rest first then give a 2 day rest/light hikes, then Half Dome. Looks gorgeous and don’t think we can pass up the opportunity while there if we can physically handle it!
Absolutely epic video! I was skeptical at first of a hiking montage but it was definently worth it. Especially the climax at the end. Doing this hike on Saturday.
8:48 Start of the Ridge Climb. 11:08 The Peak and a 360º view. --- Sadly, I can never do this. So dangerous for me with my fear of heights that will paralyze me right at the beginning if I'm lucky. Else I'm tumbling down one of the sides. Gorgeous video though! Thanks for letting me experience a hike I would love to do but cannot because of my *fear of heights*.
Did you need a wilderness permit to hike since you started from Tenya Lake? I previously seen the suggestion to hike Clouds Rest from sunrise lakes. Thank you for the beautiful video and information 😊
I believe its much shorter starting from tenaya lake compared with the other routes. I believe it took ~8 or 9 hrs in total but I took my time taking in the views...
So that last mile or so seems like there's some fairly daunting and treacherous drop offs on that ridge. Vertigo-inducing I suppose? Are you using a hat- mounted GoPro and cranking "Ascent" by Josh Leake? Amazing video man.
Thank you! Yes thats right, not for those afraid of heights. Did not mount the camera, though would be nice if I could find a way to free up the hands, hiking poles are a big help for ascents.
When we went we needed a permit to get into yosemite but not a specific permit for clouds rest. Things change all the time though so probably best to check. When you get a permit for yosemite you can ask about needing one for cr
Just saw you share this in AllTrails. Doing this hike Sunday and I am scared to death of the spine! I did Kaiser Peak last weekend to get an idea of the elevation gain and that wasn't too bad, but that hike had no drop offs. How long did it take you?
Have fun Stephanie! The spine was only really narrow in one spot (and only for ~10 feet), but other than that its pretty safe (so long as its dry/not raining). Just go slow and dont look down ;). No shame in crawling if needed (better than falling). The hike took about 6 hrs total but we stopped for pictures a lot and rested at the top for sometime (views are incredible). Hopefully this helps, be sure to subscribe for more videos!
Hi Stephanie - I'm supposed to go to Yosemite this weekend, but am concerned about the air quality. How was it for you? Were the views affected by the smoke?
@@jeremyecton3659 I'm considering this hike for my visit in late Aug - early Sep. How narrow was the narrowest part of the spine? I am going by myself. Any tips?

I'm sorry to hear that, definitely would recommend giving it another go. I certainly plan to go back - best hike in yosemite imo

Thanks Chanthee, have a great time!
awesome video - beautiful music.
Thank you, appreciate the comment!
Thank you for not using too much wide-angle. The spine looks really narrow I wonder if my fear of height would let me go through it :/

Wow Jeremy, incredible. What a breathtaking view from the summit. Great job!!!

All these videos have a very Interstellar vibe to it.

Very glad you were able to enjoy it vicariously. It's a big reason I make these. Thanks for commenting, it's always great for me to hear these things!
Outstanding videos, keep it up! Subbed!
Thanks so much, appreciate the support!
Impressive video. What's your gear? Did you use a gimbal?
Yeah go pro hero 7 with gimball. Thinking of upgrading to a sony a6600 though...
Great Video! What kind of camera did you use?
Thanks James, gopro hero7 w gimball

When I went it wasn't needed but it could be needed now so might want to check with the park. Thank you for the comment, glad to hear you liked it.
Looks awesome! Jeremy - what month did you hike? We'll be there in June and really hoping road closure doesn't prevent us from making this hike.
It is awesome Alyse, have fun! We went in July. Hope it works out for you :)
