I think sometimes people speak super fast beacause their thought process is really quick and they get many ideas as they talk.
Correct! The problem is that although the inner reason for talking fast is different (not anxiety but buzzing brain), the outer appearance is similar to that of someone who has low self value and rushes to get their word in. Other people don't always distinguish between the two types

Rih actually recently said that despite her "badass persona" & huge presence that she actually gets very anxious and nervous going to events and linking up with her industry peers, even though shes respected & admired by them. she is an introvert she just handles it very well/professionally.
@NNA S maybe introvert wasnt the best word to use here but like I said despite her persona & huge presence she is still very shy & gets very anxious. shes recently said this...even her 2015 MET Gala look they circled around the event thrice because she was nervous, she thought ppl would laugh & think shes a clown. Her "confidence" was a front she put up in the line of work that shes in shes said before "you gotta fake it til you make it." why do u think she hates when her friends make videos of her, doesnt like performing at award shows. so ya theres a certain level of confidence that she potrays just to get by & thru what she needs to. I've actually taken some tips from what's shes said being an anxious person myself and In my line of work, I've learnt to just push myself & go for it, what's the worst that can happen.
@NNA S interesting...well i wont argue or debate against someone who personally knows her. It was just sumn I've picked up in her body language & judging by some articles/interviews that shes done i.e the reason why she didnt perform at the Grammys back in 2016, the MET Gala etc. but I get what ure saying she definitely is she sure of herself and has become more reserved now that shes maturing. Wow. I've never heard of the rushing and slower talking theory. That seems pretty accurate imo. I can relate to that, and I see that in my everyday life in many different people. I think that was an important point you made.
@@PersisP I genuinely just never thought of it, I possibly could have known instinctively but I've never put much thought into how fast and slow people speak. I took a communications course, it wasn't even mentioned there lol

Same here. Here's the thing - even if the reason we speak fast is because our brains are buzzing and we want to get it all out, to other people, it seems like we're anxious or flustered. The inside reason may be different, but the outer pattern of behaviour appears very similar to someone's with low self esteem. I've been practicing this - when I want to blurt a whole monologue out, just stop, condense the content into one single sentence and convey that slowly

Yeah! And sometimes it feels like your mouth can't catch up with your thoughts. Just remember it's okay to slow down your thoughts and words so you don't stumble or unintentionally mix up your messages. I am learning this day by day.

This is why I got into the MBTI community. Rihanna is an ISFP like Aaliyah, Prince, MJ, and Janet Jackson. That means they lead with the introverted feeling function. In her default state she should be relaxed, quiet, and reflective. She will value authenticity. This information is very helpful in relationships. Some people actually do have a fast talking personality. RiRi has evolved so much.

I talk fast because I have a lot of shit in my head to talk about. I talk the fastes when I'm happy or excited about something. I'm far from insecure. Trust me when I tell you although it's a valid critique that it's due to insecurity, that's not always the case.

The talking speed is actually true. I usually talk a bit slow or just at an average speed because I want people to LISTEN to what I’m saying. I do tend to talk faster when I’m speaking to adults though. I always feel that they’re going to ignore me or move on before I finish.
Fast talkers from my experience are usually excitable people too.
Thank you for the looking around thinking while talking comment! I always do this and feel like it’s a habit I need to break because it might come off as lacking confidence or being unsure of what I’m saying. I am definitely a deep thinker though so this makes sense!

That talking fast is very true. I have a mild stutter, so when I feel like the person I'm talking to will brush me off, again which stems from an insecurity, I just talk very fast.
But when I'm in my confident chill element, my speech is amazing I'm even complimented on it!

Within the last few weeks my confidence skyrocketed I even sometimes come across as cocky from what I’ve heard, what for my insecure ass actually is a big compliment. I don’t know why it happened maybe cause of the new friends I got maybe I just really wanted to change my attitude or it could subconsciously be from watching confident people and stuff. Idk it’s just odd to me but in a good way.

Keep in mind Asap has feminine beauty, so he is getting attention from both men and women, and probably have for all of his adult life. There are many reasons to be confident and you are used to people being sexually attracted to you.
Confidence comes from positive reinforcement. If theres a 5’2 male with a smaller frame he’s more likely to grow up bullied therefore he’ll fit into the role society gives him.

I think Rihanna's slow and deliberate speech is also attributable to her desire to be understood. When you were raised in the Caribbean and the foundation of your education is British methods, you naturally speak in your Caribbean dialect when you are among Caribbean folks and when you are among others, you slow down to make sure you can be understood. I frequent do that although I finished high school and graduate schools in the United States.

Thank You. I've looked up how to stop talking really fast and found nothing that actually worked. Speaking very fast also led me to a pretty bad stutter. But I've learnt a lot from this video. Now that I've reflected, within, I've realised I actually speak really fast cause i subconsciously don't think what i say is valuable and to add to that i speak pretty fast to try and cover the stutter.
