You want pencils with a softer lead! Look for pencils labelled B, 2B, 3B, etc. All the way to 10B, which is incredibly soft and smears liek charocoal. HB is the standard pencil hardness, typical of a regular wood pencil, then anything harder will have softer color but a stronger lead with less color outpu (anything from F, H, then H2 - H10.) Hopw this helps!!

This is because to allow bigger gap between each note so you know which note to press first and give it a clearer vision on the chart. But don't worry, work on your own chart speed.
