The reason the front passenger seat back is designed differently with a plastic back is that it falls forward to accommodate cargo from the back of the vehicle right to the front dash 👍😁

Material quality in the interior, powertrain and reliability is better in a mazda. But kudos to Buick for coming up with attractive line up of vehicles 👍🏼

These new Buicks look nice, but they are woefully under-powered in my opinion. The powertrain will be run closer to its limit than something like a Mazda CX-30. I love a lot about this new car, but 133-155HP is painful.

GM new line up (encore, trax, envista, trailblazer) will probably succeed due to a lower price tags. For the price they remain decent options

I've seen all 4 yesterday, and I have to say that they all have a good vibe from the outside. But the inside its anther story; even Buicks feels kind of a cheap/plasticky inside. Seats are comfortable, tech is O.K, enough space for a 6 ft tall behind the wheel, but everything is rather hard to touch, and while around the town it should be OK, but I think that on a longer trips, lack of proper padding under elbows will hurt. Although, regardless of shortcomings, I think that for the price, all 4 of these cars present good value.

Don’t think Mazda has anything to worry about. I was looking at the encore GX 2024, but decided on a Mazda, 2023 CX 30 Turbo instead. More luxurious, more power (250hp & 330 Torq), and a better looking interior to boot. With a top-of-the-line encore GX for 2024 it cost a little bit more than my CX 30. A no-brainer for me.

Yes, the Cx-30 is beautiful, but it is also smaller on the inside, the infotainment is not nearly as good, nor is the driver assistance. I love Mazda’s, but they don’t even have a lane centering function, Lane keep assist sure but even the brand new CX 90 which tops out around 70k USD just has lane keep assist. Plus the CX 30 does not get very good gas mileage. That being said I would have to drive them back to back but I think that this Buick looks great.

    • @daviddill5227

Turbo's are more problematic regardless of the manufacturer. They run much hotter than a NA engine. The stupid thing about these size cars is that they are 3 cyclinders in many cases, which is just asking for trouble.

  • @3698s

For the price of an Encore GX I can buy a certified Mazda CX 5 or CX-30. The Mazda is a much better vehicle, well-engineered and can go to 200,000 miles if properly maintained. Does anyone think that those 3-cylinder turbo engine will last that long? Does anyone think that they will even go beyond 100,000 miles? These are beautiful looking cars & I would like Buick to be successful. I am old enough to remember the glory days of the Wildcat, Riveria & Electra 225. I would prefer s quality 4 cylinder in these small Buicks instead of a 3 cylinder. I have seen only a few Encore GX and no Envistas. Every now & then I see an Envision. Remembering how GM messed up Pontiac, Sabb, Oldsmobile & Saturn I am hoping that they do not do the same with Buick.

I was in the market for a new car and a Buick Encore owner. Didn't like the engine choices, especially for the price in the new Buicks. Test drove a 2024 cx30 and fell in absolute love with the handling and infotainment setup. The interior was much better than the Buick.Encore I traded so. I don't think Mazda should be or is scared of Buicks either. Lol.

13:19 rolling with some CUV brethren. Coming from a Buick Enclave a few years ago, despite its perceived bad reputation, I think most of the criticism is over the top. These are well built and make a decent city CUV. Large enough tires to handle downtown potholes, high enough clearance to make ingress and egress easy. Its nicely appointed and comfortable. Not that its relevant to North America, but in China, Buick is a huge luxury player in that market and this vehicle plays to that market. If they sell a few here, its gravy. Just wish they'd build a few of those coupe/very prototypes they've previewed in the past.

The mazda cx-30 is very plaine looking. Hate the brown and Black on the inside. Way to dark!!! The Buick is a little taller and wider and the front end is much taller looking. The buick is a good choice if you want something a little different for about the same price.

Like most Mazdas, it will age better. Similar to European cars, Mazda's designs are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. There are CX-30s with Greige color interior option on Preferred trims, the Carbon Edition with red leather and white leather on Premium and above trims. Mazda has superior powertrain and more power and better steering feel.

Buick 8s supposed to compete with Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Genesis, and Mazda but not Kia, Ford or Subaru. If Encore GX competes with Kia then it should compete with Chevy.
GM is having trouble positioning Buick in the US because, for China, its a VW rival with Honda and Toyota being more premium in China. GM doesn't want a luxe Buick that could step on Cadillac's feet. To me, Buick is the new Saturn with great quality

Who on earth wants their new car to have the smallest motor on earth? Not me! What a disgrace! Shame on you Buick for trying to convince the buying public that this is what we now deserve, it's not. We want powerful engines. We want to go fast right now! Give me a break! My car is faster than your car! When did that ever change? Oh, the Prius, I forgot.😮
