First Law of Mamamo - It's always better live. Second Law of Mamamoo - If there's an audience someone is losing their shit. Third Law of Mamamo - Once you Wheein you can't Whee out.
Good bye is a story about a girl falling in love with another woman, but the other woman started to date the guy. Even though Wheein and hwasa has parted with RBW they are still a part of Mamamoo, so when I see the Moo lights in the audience it feels good.
@roguereacts the man ran to look for the " intruder". Some of the clues might be that original woman was packing up the man's stuff. Now you know the dresses she was wearing/ trying on were not hers but the second womans. She " joyfully " dances with a female "mannequin ". In the photo it's the man's image that is blocked out and its then you can sense that the second woman knows who was there. But that's just my opinion and take on it. I could be so wrong lol
Wheein's "easy" and hwasa's "twit" are basically two sides of the same coin (and having each other in the mvs makes it fun, too). "Easy" is about someone in a relationship devoting their whole being to their partner and being ignored or taken for granted until they get tired of that treatment and leave. (Spoilers here) "Twit" is about a person being in a relationship with someone who made the artist their everything and taking advantage of and mocking them for that, calling them an idiot, until they wise up and leave (there is more than that but wanna leave some surprises for the actual song/mv, so it'll get discussed there). Hwasa says her song was from personal experience, except she was the devoted person in the relationship, so it is interesting that she wrote the song from the other pov There are some fun behind the scenes for "easy", showing wheein trying to work up the courage to ask sik-k to feature on this song, then the two of them being adorably awkward at mv filming. But they have become quite good friends since, with him being one of 23 friends on her instagram before she made it public. The two often promote each others work on social media, and he is one of the many friendships 2yg (wheein and hwasa) have among the khiphop community
the goodbye mv is actually about a wlw relationship! if you look back on the mv, everything will make sense. like it's so subtle that most of the times, the actual plot would go over your head and you would think that it's about a hetero relationship. the girl tried to erase every trace of him in the house (his toiletries, shirts, pics) and reminisces every memory she had with her ex-lover (eating together, dancing around the house, wearing her perfume and shirt, etc). then she enters the art room and sees the canvas painted anew with their own colors (the ex and the new guy) so she snaps bc it meant that everything rlly was over for them and painted it over with red/orange?? (probably to relay the anger/betrayal/rage). when i first saw it, all throughout the mv, i rlly thought that it was about the guy and the girl but then the ending gave me goosebumps skskskks the art teacher slowly entering the art room and realizing it was her ex-lover as she picks up the fallen picture frame with the guy's face painted over with red paint THEN the art teacher looked back and it ended with wheein staring at the camera in silence skskksk
for the painting, when you look at it first, the colors are similar to the bi flag and then when the girl paints over it she uses the lesbian flag color. Whee-in is just a genius like that.
8:50 as you might know already, there is a track in her newest album with Hwasa (17) and they just released a live clip of both singing it, make sure to add it to your list! ^^ 16:17 Yes, she did :)
@@roguereacts Lovely!!! I can't wait for you to catch up with so much good music! You are so sweet! (PS. by the way, I'm no moomoo, I'm army but I love these women so much xD I follow them since debut, the name just was soooo weird hahah so if by any chance someone says something that contradicts me, please feel free to correct me ^^U)
In school Wheein and Hwasa promised each other that they will be part of the other ones first Solo MV. Hwasa in Easy and Wheein in Twit. The Good Bye MV is about a Woman loving another woman, who dates a man now. Breaking into her home, throwing out his things, acting like the two woman are still together. At the end the other woman realizes who broke in by seeing the painting and the photo. And yes Wheein painted that one behind her. D-Day came out last year as a birthday special on her birthday fanmeet.
I love Easy and the MV. Rather than her obsessing over him in a toxic relationship I see it as a song about leaving someone because they take you for granted and don't see you for who you are or value your charms, abilities and your efforts to make the relationship work. Notice that no matter what she does he gives her the same blank expression, such as when he doesn't even notice that she's a red-hot chic chick with bling and backup dancers. I don't think it's a coincidence that he's reading a newspaper in black & white while she's in red. Besides the color contrast there's the pun on what/who he should have read rather than the paper. The MV concept takes its cue from the first line, "You don't know me." To know her is to see her worth and seeing is believing so she decides to investigate his feelings like a private eye, hence the Sherlockian hat and the many visual puns on "seeing" throughout the video. Some examples: When she looks under the table she's "looking under the surface of things;" she offers him glasses because he doesn't see (her) very well, and when she blasts him with the flying fist she "sees right through him." There are lots of other visual puns on common cliches such as "we're headed in opposite directions," "do you take me for a sucker?", "the writing's on the wall" and "there's a wall between us." Goodbye is the second song Wheein did with songwriter Jung Key. The first was Anymore, which was a #1 hit in 2017. Goodbye charted at #3 on the weekly Gaon/Circle chart. You got K Willed in Goodbye. Correct - she broke into the house but the person she loved was the woman. There's a famous MV for a song by K Will where the ending reveals that the love triangle's odd man out is in love with the guy rather than the gal. You'll probably hear the interpretation of Goodbye based on what the actress in green said, which is that she played an art teacher and the main character had a crush on her, but I don't buy it and I wish she had kept her mouth shut. I'm a former actor and have no problem with an actor inventing whatever backstory works for them in playing their role but her story makes a mockery of the song by turning the main character into a psycho, obsessed stalker. Here's my theory: The two women had started a relationship but the woman in green hadn't disclosed that she was living with or married to a man. The main character had fallen deeply in love and when she finds out she's been lied to she flips out, breaks into their house and we see what happens afterwards. Note that she's unfamiliar with the house, has to search for things in the kitchen, looks at the guy's belongings like she's never seen them before as she collects them to throw away, and is surprised to see the painting on the wall. I doubt many people notice the toothbrush clue on the first view - she leaves the pink toothbrush and throws out the other one. The K Will moment that explains who she's there for is when we and the woman in green discover that the guy has been blotted out in the photo.
easy is such a catchy and laid back song, i love her entire vibe goodbye is so subtly sapphic, and i love that wheein was able to put that in so so so much. d-day is definitely one of my favorites of her songs, the beat is addictive
After going to school together and getting to debut together, Wheein and Hwasa agreed to cameo in each other's solo videos. You'll see Wheein in Twit. Sik-k is actually widely known as one of the nicest guys in Korean music, but he's a good enough m/v actor people who only see this video HATE him 😮.
Yay! Solos! I'm loving your idea for the scheduling, I think it's gonna be really great this way :D So, for Easy, the way I always understood it is that Wheein's character was in love with that guy, put his needs above her own, but he never really gave her as much attention, and now she's fed up with it (in his part he apologizes and promises he'll do better, followed by whatever that cheek smooshing move was and taking her for granted still, which I guess was Wheein's last stroke and lead to the sci-fi execution lol), at least that's how I interpret it. I see everyone already did their due diligence in explaining the Goodbye mv! The true plot's easy to miss for sure, but in very conservative countries, sometimes, the more subtle the better (being myself originally from an even more conservative country than SK, I always find it brave when artists from such places scatter even the smallest lgbtq+ crumbs out publicly in their official work - and well, Mamamoo's a treasure of a group when it comes to that, one of them even served a whole meal as you'll eventually learn lmao). It's great that you're enjoying her RnB style because I bet you had/will be having an amazing time with all her solo work :D 🤘
Goodbye wasn't really promoted much. That was the time wheein really doubted herself, when it ranked #1 on charts she wrote on the fancafe thanking everyone for loving her voice and saying how she was under confident about her abilities! It then became one of her biggest hit song. Ballad wheein never fails for me!
Someone else mentioned about the "d-day" lives being from her birthday fanmeet, but i wanted to say that whole fanmeet is worth checking out if you ever have the time... and it even has some lore/history to it with one segment that happened Originally, moonbyul was meant to be the host for the meet, interviewing wheein and entertaining the audience while she was prepping for next performance and such. But sadly, byul caught covid and was unable to do it, so wheein's ceo, ravi stepped in instead. There was a cooking segment where wheein made a really... um... interesting... sandwich which ravi had to eat, and he did not enjoy it. This was meant as punishment/retaliation for moonbyul, as wheein was special guest at byul's first online concert and byul tricked her into eating some super salty eggs she had made in a live cooking segment there
really cute fact about easy: iirc wheein and hwasa during their school years both had this sorta promise of appearing in each others' first music video. pretty much why hwasa appears in that bit of the mv, truly the bestest of friends
Love it! i've been doing my own deep dive into kpop over the past year and sunny shower remains one of my favorite songs. wheein and colde is a dream collab
16:15 yes, that's Wheein's painting in the background 😊 it was in some ?guide? (sorry, don't remember what a vid I watched). There was a piece of interview with Weein about her career and art.
I saw someone mentioned the song "anymore", which is technically jungkey featuring wheein, though she was the only one singing. (He is a songwriter and composer). He asked her to feature on the song, which does have an mv, and an incredible live of the two of them, with him playing keyboard "Goodbye" is their second collab, with wheein being the one to reach out to him to write/compose for the song
I'm with you here, but it's official a Jungkey feat. wheein song, so it may or not may be her song.... but as a MooMoo I will always remember and cherish her first time being on first place in the charts. 🙂
Wheein's voice is so like honey and all of her songs are as good as these but then we all know anything done by Mamamoo is going to be perfect . The journey through her albums will be an experience. I have heard the new album, you will be amazed. There is an MV of an acoustic version of Easy, wheein is going to seduce your mind with that voice of hers.
Oh... for "easy", there is also a short acoustic version of the song with a video of wheein singing as she walks down some railroad tracks at night. Very much worth checking out It was filmed by park woosang, pws, the producer who worked a lot with mamamoo, esp wheein and hwasa (the latter of whom calls him her musical soulmate). He has filmed a few things for hwasa, wheein and moonbyul over the years, despite film pretty much just being a hobby for him. Officially, Anymore is a Jung Key song with Whee In as feature. It is so far his only #1 hit. But moo moos do generally regard it as a Whee In song. 😁
