The lore behind Charlemagne in Fate is still so weird to me. Like, wouldn't Astolfo's summoning in Apocrypha with a catalyst from his own legends debunk the fact that saber Charlie was only fictional in the first place?
It's more that Saber Charlie represents the fictional exploits of Charlemagne, rather than him being outright fiction. Astolfo's in that midway point between fiction and reality, similar to Artoria and the KOTR. It's even represented in his NP being able to phase through things because its existence isn't verifiable.
@@TheAnimeVoid Yeah that's always been a plot point I never really liked about Link. I feel like things would have been better if Charlie was always in that middle ground rather than just saying some exploits were purely fictional and others weren't
@@MoebiusX9 if anything , Astolfo , and his flashback having young Karl sharing the same appearance as Charlie already proves that it wasn't purely fictional. They could had outright state to be "fantastical vs historical" , rather than using words like 'fictional". And that the events are slightly warped when preserved into plays.
@@phantasosxgames8488true, one of the reasons why charles exists on the throne in the first place is that he was historically Charlemagne before Vepar corrupted him, we saw the flashback of Karl de Grober as a young man and he is identical to Charles, so it doesn't make sense for him to be seen as Fantasy in itself, it would make more sense for him to be like what Archer Gilgamesh is to Caster Gilgamesh, the younger version of him before he became the egomaniac emperor self-proclaimed messiah, However, they decided to do the whole charles thing from the legends against the real charles and that got me confused
@@luisfillipebeserra2108 that is the thing: Fate states that Charles is just legends , while Karl is the real one.....yet the actual games , novels and mangas from Fate , portrays Charles as been basically the real one , just young. It's the difference of what is said is not the same as what was showed.
@@TheAnimeVoid how would characters like Dietrich/thidrek and Theodoric go because Dietrich is placed before Theodoric and is seen as a separate being though based off him unlike Charlie who exists as karl
@@TheAnimeVoid also would you make Dietrich or thidrek since Siegfried and sigurd and separate for some stupid reason thidrek fought evenly with sigurd and Dietrich put Siegfried to flight burning his armor and mentally scaring him terrifying him so he ran to kriemhild lap

Not only there is Dietrich and Theodoric , but there is also the case of Ambrosius Aurelianus: in some versions , Ambrosious is a brother-in-arms to Merlin and Uther , in others it's Merlin himself as "Merlinus Ambrosius". So , it can easily have M! Merlin as a Saber to one sister , and Prototype's Ambrosius Aurelianus to another.

I had considered them, but them being divine spirits makes me doubt it as the Fuyuki Grail was unable to summon anything with too high of divinity.
