I miss video stores so much. So. Much. They used to be such a treat to go to Blockbuster as a kid. Or those cheaper video rental places they had in the middle of town that had "new releases" that were a year later than Blockbuster would get them. Younger people won't realize the excitement of going into a video store and realizing a movie they always wanted to see was now on VHS haha.

I’ve always wanted to visit a Family Video. From what I understand, they’re thriving as the last major video store rental chain because they open locations in smaller cities. Plus, unlike Blockbuster and Movie Gallery/Hollywood Video, they own ALL of their buildings, so they’re not paying rent which was a huge cost factor for all the other rental chains. Smart move on Family Video’s part.
I miss when Retal Stores were popular not that many people rent DVDs anymore there are some people but you get my point I miss those days when Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and other video services weren’t popular yet those were the good old days and now some Rental Stores are closing because it’s not popular anymore which is sad
the days of Going to little caesars and renting some movies. spending a good amount of time looking at all the movies getting ready for movie night . Having to bring back your dvds when you were done 👌 3:01 what was back there ? Haha

The Family Video close to me closed this year too because the building it was in was bought by Dollar General. I too didn't' know they were closing and when I came in it was bare but I did find some good bargains.
My hometown is still rocking two family videos I always go to them when I go home for the holidays but none of them have the adult section which I honestly didn’t know was still a thing.
My Family video just closed also. I bought 100 blurays at $2 a piece. I picked up The Fanatic on bluray. Lol. Our Family Video was giving those racks away free to anyone who wants them.

Yea, live in area of place that had video rental places like blockbuster i snagged some already seen movies and stores so i saw stuff early on and scored some good stuff. so yea sux they close and hope they able transfer to other stores still open any.
Last year, there was a similar experience for me where my local video rental store was closing down (the store was called ‘Civic Video’). The one thing I ended up getting before it officially closed was ‘Hellboy 2: The Golden Army’ on Blu Ray

The Fanatic on blu-ray is enough of a score for that visit. That dude in the adult section....classic. We didn't have Family Video in my part of Canada, but I always assumed it wouldn't have a backroom section. LOL.
So there are three Family videos within about five miles of where I live. One of them got the axe. And my physical video obsession got me about $70 lighter in the pocket. But I got some good movies and most likely some bad ones but for the prices couldn't pass them up.
The Family Video stores in both Beaver Dam and Waupun, WI closed. I went to both and probably got about 30 movies altogether. All Blu-ray too. I think the pandemic put a damper on video rental stores. It sucks.
I went to family video today and just realized a church friend is the manager. We talk a bit about how family videos are doing. I was so glad to hear the one I go to is doing okay but she said all the others around us are closing :(

My family video announced that they were closing in the back of September and it made me so sad. I remember going there almost every Saturday when I was younger, it was very depressing. Wish I could have went there more. I’m always sad to here when a movie store, like Family Video, is closing.

Physical media is a really archaic and dumb thing to own anymore. You spend a bunch of money on movies and it takes up a good amount of space in your home and a lot of the time you only watch the movies like once a year at most.

I found out the ones in Springfield Illinois are closing, got some good pickings but boy was it slim pickings when I went. Lucky to get what I got.
