    One thing to check are the throttle body pulleys on 2005-2013 Hex and Camheads. They crack and can break off. There have been a lot of complaints to the NHTSA and some call backs from the gov, but no action from BMW. The fixes are: replace the throttle bodies, replace the pulleys/shafts with parts from Bing or replace the pulleys with metal ones from a guy in Tucson. Mine broke in 2015, which was early compared to others, probably due to the heat in AZ. Why they use plastic, IDK, but BMW wouldn't help as my bike was out of warranty, so I replaced the throttle bodies with used ones from a salvage bike with less mileage. There are a couple threads on the subject on the BMW Sport Touring forum.

    Hey BMW Guy, thank you for posting this video explaining how to properly conduct a valve synchronization. I especially appreciated the attention to detail on where to connect the hoses and the nuts that you need to adjust. Excellent video - i've subscribed to your channel and i look forward to more informative videos.

    Hello,
    I have a 97 BMW R1100RT and it stopped running after I shut it down and conducted what a guy online suggested would be good to do. A CAT relay / motronic reset.
    I removed the ECU fuse #5 to shut down the "brain". Then removed the relay for the CAT. The stated to then put the #5 fuse back in and power up the bike. THEY said it would do a reset on the CATALYTIC sensors (For surging fixes) f=but what it actually did is when I started the bike it went in a high throttle setting. I shut it off, unplugged the #5 fuse and placed the CAT relay back in and booted it all up. After doing the "Put back as it was" the bike only turns over, no run as if no fuel.
    I bought a OBD tester because I believe what appears to have happened is when I did a Motronic reset that the TPS settings are all wack. That being said only error code the scanner said is the hall sensor. (I understand from the software details and others that if the bike is non running and not started, that code would be shown.) I also ran a TPS test and it shows nothing coming in on the TPS scan. I assume TPS issue would prevent fuel coming into the TB. I hear the fuel pump running when key is turned. Whats wierd is my TPS plug has 4 pins, not 3 like every video I see online Ive been looking at to test the plug and rotation resistance on the throttle..
    Attempt to start is while on center stand and side stand up.
    Ideas?

      Not a full blown mechanic but I'm pretty sure in the repair manual it says to NOT touch the left side. Turn only the right side cable adjuster. That's all I've ever done and it's been great.

      That is totally correct. Only adjust the righthandside. I also erase the the adaption values first.

      No difference if you need to replace throttle body cables.
      Start over with adjustments.
      TPS is not affected on left side Throttle body.

    Hi, I'm Arturo from Mexico City.
    by accident, the valvoline oil liter cap gasket went inside the engine of my bmw 1200 gs, 2005, this gasket was 1.5cm in diameter and 1mm thick, it was flexible and made of a kind of soft rubber.
    I tried to remove it by changing the oil and removing the filter, but I was not successful, the gasket did not appear.
    My question is, if in your opinion the gasket will degrade with the heat and internal friction of the engine?
    also, if it continues in there, is it trapped in a filter, for example in the oil pump?
    I was told that the gasket can be absorbed by the oil suckers and cause a serious breakdown...
    but other people tell me that those oil suckers have a mesh, that in case of any foreign body, it would be trapped there...
    Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can give me.
    what did I talk about, it happened to me 150km from my house, and at that moment I had no choice but to ride like that to my house, nothing happened, I did not feel any different from the motorcycle and no warning light came on.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for the guide. The service manual said that a little bit bigger vaccum value on the left cylinder is acceptable. However the opposite situation, when vaccum on the right side is a bit bigger than left side needs to be adjusted. Could you explain this phenomen?

    • @davidtop6242
      @davidtop6242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The left cylinder is the master cylinder. By the way, you should only adjust the right one.

    Thank you for this video, it is very usefull. I have some questions. Why the gs911 is necessary? What happens if I do the procedure without it? On my bike ( ‘17 nine t)one of the vacum fitting is connected to the evap, what is the purpose of that?

    • @davidtop6242
      @davidtop6242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need the gs911 or any obs allowing you to block the idle actuators during the syncing as they may interfere.

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I understand it anyway, when at idle both throttle bodies are at their mechanical stops, and idle and vacuum is controlled by the ECM via idle air controllers. The GS911 will synchronize those.
      Once you apply throttle, the cables control how much each throttle is open, and those also need to be synchronized so vacuum is also balanced when not at idle
