I dream of having my auditions accepted for the job almost as much as working with major clients. What a compliment to know you knocked it out on the first submission.

Wow, Bill. Great advice. Well thought out. Well presented. I can't say enough good things about the high-quality content you deliver on a regular basis. Thanks so much for all you do!

Wow. Yep. I've seen different versions of clients. It's a learning experience. Scammers came after me on a pay to play just 6 months ago. I've been a member about 2 years on that particular site. They tried to intimidate me and that was a HUGE mistake. Thanks for sharing this, Bill. You are very practical and just make good sense.🙏🏽

Bill, your videos are always of sage advice with an openness and honesty that's second to none, a straight shooter for sure.

So true, this gives a very down to earth picture of the industry! If you love doing this, which I do, you love all of it even the smaller ones. I do lots of corporate policies and it’s consistent. It’s always better to leave ego outside and walk in with enjoyment, it makes you a pleasure to work with and never underestimate the value of repeat work. Now I’m off to binge watch your videos despite being in this for many years I think I’ll definitely learn more from you! Thank you for sharing😁👍 Sio

This was so timely for me and the pep talk I needed to put myself back in the right frame of mind! Having been shortlisted for something nowhere near yours, but a big job for me I having been thinking about many things if I did actually get picked but so nice to know that people are nice up there and I just have to deliver what I love doing! 😍

*If I am not mistaken, the "Find New Roads" commercials have a new actor every year or every few years. I do know that Matt Damon was the voice in 2020.*
*Also, I think your numbers for "A-List actors" being in the millions is a bit over-blown. I do know that Donald Sutherland was that voice of Volvo for many years, and he got $85K per 30-second spot. "Millions" may be stretching things a little too much !!!*

That was great, Bill, thanks! Good to know typical rates for a top-flight pro, for comparison. The crazy home runs are great, but, yeah, not something you plan on. I’m just ramping up my VO career, but I’ve done TV commercials, as an actor, exactly ONE in the range you’re talking about at the top of this video. It was great while it lasted, but it’s the daily stuff that pays the bills and takes you places.

GREAT info! Thanks for the scam update.
I hated those radio commercials that required reading a phone number 8 times 🤬
And you're right. That one huge gig made me feel like a rock star! I was in the studio for less than 15 minutes. Now my focus is on audiobooks. Thankfully, I'm retired. Because, yeah...I'd starve and be homeless if voiceover were my primary source of income. 🤣

Great Video. lots of good info thanks. I like the part about warning for those new to v.o. I would recommend to upload that section of the idea as a separate video.

I've watched a lot of your videos, and I was wondering when you were going to mention AI. With its advent, there is a barrage of opportunities, along with scams like the ones you mention here. I look forward to more videos about how AI is sculpting the VO industry.
I'll be part of the Blueprint soon enough. I'm soaking in whatever I can before doing so. Teaching is one of the noblest professions. So, thank you. 👍

Not sure where to ask this, so here we are.
If you're doing a voice over demo, is it acceptable to the big copyright holders to use a movie clip and voice it over?
Like 6 second clips of Disney movies, Netflix, etc.
A collage of clips with split screen doing VO?

    • @VoiceCoach-BillDeWees
      @VoiceCoach-BillDeWees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi there! I highly recommend ispot.tv and TH-cam commercials for your demo. You can definitely use short clips as they fall under fair use and are being used for demonstration purposes. Hope that helps!

@BillDeWees on the average, how many jobs do you do a day? Not interested in how much they are, just how many. And how do you figure which ones to tackle first?🤔

Voices and voices123 are great once you have a pro demo and a fair bit of experience working as a VO talent. I work from my homes studio. Hope that helps!
