Best Video on active track for DJI Mini Pro I could find!! Only thing worth mentioning that might help some others is that "Enable Subject Scanning" is only possible once the Drone is in the air.
You must add that "To enable subject scanning the drone has to be flying". Very frustrating when critical information is missing. "The aircraft must be in the take-off status, either flying or hovering. Starting the motors alone is not enough to enable subject scanning. "
Great video...... Thank you! Only thing that I was confused on is exactly how you "draw" the rectangle around the object you want to follow? I assume you use your finger on the screen although I did not see you use your finger. I see the green plus signs but nothing happened when I pressed them.
Will the camera change automatically change its angle (downward camera tilt and angle ) when it follows the subject in trace mode from behind , front ,top?
its usually harder to measure feet's, in the sky. I also have small feet so not sure it would be accurate. can we get some conversion to something more scientific like centimetres or meters?
When I go into active track mode, my only options are “manual” and “parallel”, I have the m3P, is there a setting I need to turn on to get the “trace” option?
to activate active track and enable subject scanning in control tab, 1st go to picture mode, then control tab activate subject scanninng then back to video mode.
It could be that the various tweaks and adjustments DJI has made to the Mini 3 Pro firmware has removed the option. We have seen that in the past. They update the software so much, many things in YT vids are, sadly, no longer relevant.
My active track now gives me the option of “Manual” or Parallel. It doesn’t allow me “track” or “trace” whatever it used to say. Why is this? How do I switch that manual mode back?
Hello! Did you find how to change manual mode to trace mode? And my drone has the same as yours, only manual and parallel. Please let me know if you find out. Thank you!
@@razvansumedrea1778 I called DJI and they said it’s Manual or Parallel now. Doesn’t make sense. Not sure the guy knew what he was talking about. And no, I haven’t been able to change it.

Nothing to fix. DJI has renamed Trace to Manual. Look at when this video was posted and realize there have been several firmware updates since this posting. Things change.

I struggled with it following my S.I.B boat. Plus I want more than just follow that’s boring. I’m in a beautiful place I want it to capture me and where I am. Is that asking too much of DJI? Thanks for sharing I use your videos for insurance making sure I’m doing things right. So when I CRASH a law suit is coming your way lol. Ray K UK YNWA.
Really interesting! To get into the menue, the drone needs to be activated... And up in the air. That's bad. It can't be prepared before flying. One more step that will be forgotten. Setting that mode to get it activated... I've missed that watching other videos.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. STEP 1 in the video is specifically for when you want to target/identify vehicles and people that are actually moving. When you activate Subject Scanning, DJI Fly scans the immediate area and places a "+" on each object found, enabling you to select them immediately, while moving around. We should have stated that a bit more clearly, to stand out as an optional step. To get into Active Track mode, you don't have to have Subject Scanning enabled. You can simply trace a box around a stationary object and Go.
@@Droneblog Wow! Thanks a lot! I do have some ideas but have not yet tried tracking. Didn't manage to get it started earlier. Now, new games and new bets.
I need to play with this a little more. The other day I tried and got a message, something like, "not available in this mode". I think I was in video mode because when I switched to photo mode I was then able to draw the green square. I didn't realize that was the case. Need to experiment more.
@@RockyMtnWay_406 Lots of surpricing happenings in DJI drones. Lately I switched to night mode in the Mavic 3 pro. One camera was lost, 4K 60 FPS was set and Object Avoidence not available......
@@Stefan_Boerjesson Now, "trace" is not an option in active track. I see "manual", "spotlight", and "POI". (Instead of "trace", it says "manual". I can't figure it out.
The mini 3 pro needs some upgrading and the batteries are not really doing it for me. Nowhere near the operation flying flight time for the battery. Battery discharges quickly and slow to charge. Dare I say the RC battery seems to discharge very quickly also and slow to charge. 😢
I know that this is not the fresh video etc... BUT...! Big tutorial mistake is - 1:10 do not say: "Simply go in the menu first..." Not everyone is familiar with menu, software and setings. Do a step by step tutorial for dummies! Trust me - it will make your videos better and viewers happier.
Great Vid! But please use metric system. Myanmar, Liberia an U.S. is the only countries that still use the outdated imperial system:) So you are missing about 7.5 billion metric people here;)
Does anyone else find it pretty silly that these drones wouldn't immediately begin filming once active tracking is enabled, or AT LEAST have a prompt reminding you to select shooting parameters and PRESS RECORD? Oh the sunsets I've missed 😂
Agreed. This IS something, however, that the smaller and less expensive Neo does. Who knows, maybe you Mini's will have it baked in. Could also be because the Neo is designed for minimal physical interaction, so auto recording would benefit that audience....

Great catch. As we do more videos on active track (360 for the Mini 4 Pro), we'll be sure to include that vital piece of info!
I was trying to do it on the ground. Thanks for the info, works fine now.
Thank you. No wonder I can't find it. Tq so much

Mine says active spot not active track. How do you change it from the spot to track? I have the same drone the mini 3 pro
Nice and simple. There are a lot of features.. taking them one 'bite' at a time helps.
Why I don't have that option on DJI Fly App?
Is there any reason why my subject scanning won’t turn on?
Why didn't you mention you have to swipe from the right of the screen to even access that menu. That's all I was trying to figure out.
Hi great tutorial vids but any idea why my mini 3 pro only displays spotlight and poi but no active track
Mine would only let me enable subject tracking after i lowered my video settings to 4k30fps it would not enable at 4k60fps
Will the camera change automatically change its angle (downward camera tilt and angle ) when it follows the subject in trace mode from behind , front ,top?
My Subject Trackng switch is greyed out I am not able to turn it on in normal video mode. Any idea why this could be? Thanks
Same here did you manage to fix it?
Gotta be in the air first mate.
when active track in ON can you move the drone from letft to right!? or its just set on a single position!?

Great simple breakdown thankyou
Thanks for the vid, can you use active tracking with the DJI mini 3 pro and the RCN - 1 controller?
Thanks for the video .
Can the DJI Mini 3 Pro do this over shallow water ? Im going flats fishing and will be wading upto 3 feet deep in the ocean ?
As long as it is about 6 ft in the air (at a minimum). However, DJI suggests flying at a minimum of 9ft ver the water.
Can it track a flock of birds flying together?
When I go into active track mode, my only options are “manual” and “parallel”, I have the m3P, is there a setting I need to turn on to get the “trace” option?
same here, did you find a way to solve this ?
to activate active track and enable subject scanning in control tab, 1st go to picture mode, then control tab activate subject scanninng
then back to video mode.
Ive got A problem, i cant activate the scann motiv button can someone pls help me out with this😢
Connect the controller to the internet first
I was wondering if you can change between Trace and Parallel mode on the fly
Isn't there also one where it goes around you? Maybe that's not available on Mini 3 Pro?
I believe that's the POI option.
very simple explanation, thank you
I am Unable to find the subject scan option not even when flying amy suggestions on that bro?
Its in the menu. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen. Make sure your drone is in flight otherwise it won't let you activate it.
when i try draw selection i have AF and brighness why ?
