I would recommend PGR. But if you plan to maybe only play until release and unless you plan to play a lot its kinda hard to recommend. Not cause the game is that grindy, it's just the story doesn't really start picking up until like chapter 8. Which will take some time to reach if you only play a few every now and then, so you might not even reach the good parts of the story before Wuthering Waves releases. I will say the combat in PGR can still be very fun, but most of the early game challenges and fights in story aren't really that amazing to get most people hooked long enough. Of course other content in the game fixes that like Warzone and Phantom Pain Cage. But if you only plan to play until WuWa you most likely won't experience the full enjoyment of pgr hardcore combat before WuWa comes out. As a Veteran PGR player, I would love seeing more people play the game and supporting Kuro. But I've seen a lot of content creators and even just players try pgr, do the early chapters and before even reaching chapter 8 quit, even though they heard the story only starts getting good once you reach that point. PGR is just too slow at the start, and really needs a level of time investment before you can unlock everything and start enjoying it fully. Now you might be able to speedrun in, but you'd have to skip story and stuff to level up and unlock content. The main appeal of PGR the hardcore gameplay and difficult bosses, also is a problem for new players. Since early game fights are very simple with only a few challenges every now and then, and a lot of the bosses that are super hard and strong you won't experience until later on. I think you could still enjoy the game definitely, and I would still love to see you play it, it's just I hope you keep in mind that there is a reason why the early game of PGR is considered to be the hardest thing for new players to get into, the early game experience in PGR really isn't very good. I mean as a Veteran I've had dozens of new players be my students in the Mentor System of the game, and most of them don't even play long enough to actually finish the mentorship and graduate. This has been an issue for Vetran players for a long time, since so many new players quit so early on. And why the community is small and niche when compare to other gacha games. Lack of marketing and slow early game experience are the two big reasons why PGR is small and is inconsidered underated despite being praised as one of the best Gacha games in terms of combat. The endgame is fun though, but it also ultimately ends up being a side game, so that's nice if you plan to play Wuthering Waves along with PGR. I would love to recommend trying it, but again pls be warned, I say just play it if you really wanna try and think you can last 8 whole chapters (plus the hard diff chapters) of slow story.
