    1), tent: DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!! get a tent that uses a lot of far reaching guy wires (the lines/wires to stabilize your tent). Get a tent that doesn't need them! Your tent will most likely not survive without incident if it has a bunch of wires stretching out from it. I can't count the amount of times I, or other festival goes have stumbled of those even in bright daylight (just imagine at night with close to no lighting)
    2): Bring a very small, pocket sized flashlight for traversing the tripwire tent sites. People will pay you in beer for being allowed to follow you around like a duck army if you're the one with the power of working light.
    3): Don't underestimate the tip of wet wipes! You can wipe sh* encrusted toilet seats, wipe your own crusts, if it's far to the showers or if they're too crowded you can clean your essentials, and if you get dirty (spoiler alert: you WILL get dirty) you can wipe your hands before handling food that you eat/cook. What you don't want is a messed up digestive system. With the amounts of alcohol you're likely to ingest you are going to have enough trouble as it is, you don't want to add a food borne illness to that, especially not for your trip back home where you just want to relax and decay in your seat instead of having to run to the toilet every ten minutes.
    4): If you go as a couple, make sure to secretly pack a supply of nuts or chocolate bars that you reserve for your gf/spouse. That'll garner you love and respect for the rest of your life if you suddenly whip out some food supplies for when her cravings are at their worst! As a trade-off you won't have to think about wet wipes, she'll have packed them already! ;P

    I would also add that depending on the weather and where festival located a rain poncho is a good investment , compact to carry compared to umbrella, and if it starts raining it doesn't matter how many clothes you had, you will get wet and eventually cold if you get soaked through.

    I went to my first festival 24 years ago (ouch!), so I didn't really need this video, but I did feel affirmed that I'm doing festivalling right. :') The most important thing I've learned is that you shouldn't feel too cool for certain things and you should pick comfort over cred every time. Protect your ears, drink enough water so you don't feel like shit, wear the ugly but comfy shoes and most of all: Have fun and go with the proverbial flow.

    Something i always bring is a flag and an improvsied flagpole. The flagpole is really just a fishing rod i repurposed, but i can stick in my hugeass backpack and it doesnt stick out too much over the top. Makes it easier to find your way home, or guide people to your camp when you can tell them "just look for the Jolly Rodger and Dark side of the Moon flags!".
    If several of you are camping together, you could bring a hugeass tarp to stretch over your tents. It actually keeps the worst of the suns heat out, and will make your camp the most attractive one in the entire campground when the rain inevitably starts.

    Also worth adding to the list. Even though it seems obvious, don’t forget your ticket. In the rush of getting stuff loaded and ready for Sonic temple this year I left my wristband on my desk. Just to comment on the solar battery packs you mentioned at 8:54, don't get the ones shown in the video. They can barely charge a god damn calculator let alone a phone and they false advertise to shit. If you want to do want to charge your phone via the power of the sun, get one of those portable solar chargers like one from BigBlue, Flexsolar, Powerness, or anything similar that folds out. Not ones that is just a solar panel on top of a relatively tiny battery bank.
    Edit for the thing literally afterwards about electrical standards, be careful when converting electrical standards, because for example the USA uses different voltages than Europe (110v vs 220v), so you could end up frying your device by sending too many volts to it which is def not smth you want happening at a multi day festival. I believe the converter you have is fine from my research. but keep in mind to get something that regulates voltages and not just smth that converts the connector

    Bring very old clothing that you can wear one last time, and toss it when you're at the festival after wearing it.
    This way, you're not over packing on your way back if you buy new merch, and if you don't, your backpack will be less heavy!

    I love TetraPaks that have some sort of protein shake inside of them. TetraPaks have an extremely long shelf life and protein is so necessary when you’re out there. If you’re a cramper, take a taurine supplement.

    Do not forget, that earplugs can be incredible usefull when you're trying to sleep. Cause these tents are not exactly soundproof and it can get quite loud at night.

  • @96akcent
    @96akcent หลายเดือนก่อน

    few more tips
    after arrival first set up your tent, then start drinking, never the other way
    don't recoment suitcase these are good for cities and airports, but on fest you'll go miles outdoor, with grass or sand or dirt or mud or wherever you're going. I've already killed 2 suitcases this way, the wheels break quite easily
    trusty backpack or sports bag are your friends
    when it comes to alcohol more %%% = less to carry on, scotch, rum, vodka - whatever you'd like
    you can always buy some beer on camp. Just make sure your place allows to take it in or you might want to hide it inside your sleeping bag ;)

    • @96akcent
      @96akcent หลายเดือนก่อน

      and the biggest gamechanger i've ever found - mylar blankets and some silvertape
      just cover your tent with it and it'll stay cool inside even in the biggest sun

    For the Metal Baddies, don't forget your feminine hygiene items, some advils for cramps etc. Being on your period during a festival can suck on your body but you can still have fun🤘🏻
    I'd recommend to bring some Pain meds, antihistamine, first aid kit items like bandaids. Accidents can happen in the pit

    Great list. I do have one addition, even though it has been mentioned before: duct tape. Just in case a drunk crashlands into your tent and you have no other but to tape the broken poles. Real story, not my own experience.
