    Never heard of him,watched your video,his career stats in 332 regular season games are 17,4 points 10,2 rebounds and 3 dimes. Impressive. Good job on the highlights and promotion of this player.

    That's literally the exact name I thought of in watching some highlights of Ruland. He was like a more rough and rugged version of Jokic. Dude was a force when he was healthy and in his prime.

    Wow, I had no idea he was able to handle the ball like that. The first step and the baseline dunk at 3:04 was beautiful. Eye test and numbers (before injury) do not lie. Definitely would have been elite if not for the foot injuries/problems.

    I remember Ruland....he could be called a Jokic prototype for a couple of years (1983-85)....but let's not get carried away.... he did not come close to having the dribbling skills of Jokic...and he suffered a broken bone in his foot and played just 37 games in 86. Ruland had brittle feet, like Bill Walton, and his NBA career was over by 1993.

      @@JohnnyRodgers3Jokic ranks as a top tier team defender this is crazy talk. Watch the Phoenix series from this years playoffs, dude just eats the middle of the floor and kills all the Booker and KD action. Larry was solid before injuries, but he’s never had that type of impact defensively in a playoff series. The last two seasons now Denver has had a top 5 defense with Joker on the floor, and league worst when he’s off.. might be something he struggled with in the past but he’s among the best in the league at defending in space and taking away angles.. he’s basically what Mark Gasol was the year Mark won DPOTY.
      Also, Bird ranks below him in rebounding, blocks, scoring efficiency.. shooting is comparable, Bird has a slight advantage from 3 and the FT line, but so far Jokic has shown the ability to maintain his shooting in the playoffs better than Larry.
      He’s got a long ways to go before he should be compared to Bird on their careers and look like a top 10 player, but you’re really shortchanging the player he is right now at this moment.

    • @JohnnyRodgers3
      @JohnnyRodgers3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@airgordo4 Larry bird has always had high defensive impact...I can't agree with that...not.only was he good at rotating and filling in space but he was GREAT at calling out defensive collapses and helping teammates get in position...sure jokic might better than bird in terms of interior contest...but is bird not far superior in terms of disrupting passes and denying open looks...even after injuries bird was still a better all around off ball defender and team defender than just jokic...yes they share similar IQ on both sides of the ball, but bird had the means and athletic ability to actually act on it more times than jokic...he's less of a liability on the perimeter, he's less of a liability in transition, he's very strong on the block...even after injuries he STILL played with more hustle and grit than jokic ever had...🤷‍♂️ and no jokic is NOT a better rebounder than bird...bird was playing along side Parish and Mchale....He's also a wing and was playing in a era where the paint was clogged...so going in for a rebound was damn near always met with resistance compared to today's NBA...(and it was even harder in wilts era)...and even with all that STATISTICALLY jokic is marginally better... VISUALLY and LITTERALLY bird is a superior rebounder...bird is also a far better 3 point shooter and shooter in general...and the same context applies...bird was playing in a low volume low % 3 pt era...jokic is playing in a HIGH volume good % 3 point era... look at how many % points on average and at their best that they ranked above league average....jokic is great don't get me wrong...but he's nothing we've NEVER seen before...sabonis, bird, Walton, wilt all tremendously gifted big men with high to elite passing IQ/ability....same thing with giannis...we've had bill russell, we've had David Robinson....with LeBron weve had Gus honey comb Johnson
      ...the only player who was probably the 1st of his kind is KD

    • @airgordo4
      @airgordo4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnnyRodgers3 Visuaully and literally he isn’t a better rebounder though. The gap between isn’t even particularly close. Jokic is in the top 15 on his career for rebound%, Bird is 144th. The gap between them larger than the gap between Bird and guys who don’t even crack the top 250.. and if you want to take Bird’s peak year (rookie year) where he wasn’t playing next to any of those guys mentioned, and Jokic’s peak year (last year) that gap is even larger than the gap they have on their careers. Jokic’s peak rebound% is Dennis Rodman’s career average rebound%. You’re underselling him.
      No doubt more bigs and more resistance on the glass in previous years, but also less long rebounds from outside shots and more chances around the rim to grab boards when you aren’t being pulled away from the rim on pick and rolls every play on defense and pulled from the rim to set ball screens at the three point line every play on offense. Impossible to determine which effects rebounding more (most likely close to a wash) but they aren’t even close enough for us to debate it if we are being realistic. Even as a center Jokic likely spends more time away from the rim on both ends than Larry, and still crushes the glass.
      “Far better shooter” is a stretch. Jokic isn’t high volume from three either and unlike Bird he’s rarely left wide open from three (because of how little it was utilized/defended in that era).. nobody knows what high volume attempts from Bird would look like or how it would translate because we are making up something that we’ve never seen/never existed. Right now Jokic is over 40% on his career in the playoffs, he’s barely under 40% this past regular season. Comparable to any seasons from Bird. He shot 59% on deep twos this past year, and 50% on 10-16ft mid-range shots, and 64% on 3-10ft mid range shots with a lethal floater.. this is both better than Kevin Durant from mid range, and what little tracking we have of Jordan in the late 90s from mid range. To say he isn’t comparable as a shooter at this stage isn’t fair at all to what he’s been producing.
      Jokic had some similarities to passing bigs like Walton and Sabonis but his ability to hit those Bird-like flip passes, and hit guys at full speed with either hand in stride like Kidd/Magic definitely make him unique in comparison to any other big in league history.
      Regardless of how you feel about he vs Bird, any of this “far better this”, “far better that” is greatly underselling how good Jokic is right now in this moment.
