- We are taking a look at the all new '67 Impala 4 door 1/25th scale model kit from AMT. Then we compare it to the original 1997 issue Impala SS 2 door sport roof version.

Best thing about this kit is it has a regular hood , I've been looking for for a low rider version. So cool 😎

I bought two of these Supernaturals.
I have been working on one as an unmarked Los Angeles Police "Homicide" unit for a while.
I am waiting for one of those radios that come in the Revell '57 Ford kits to show up on eBay because I don't want to spend $50.00 on just one part.
Meanwhile, I have put the B posts in, made my lollipop for the package tray, my handheld light for hanging on the rear view mirror, my LAPD notebook, vintage big chrome flashlight for the painted two-toned blue interior.
The chassis and suspension are painted and ready to mount my Tony Mattliano Chevrolet dogdish caps on the black wheels on Tony's "black wall" tires.
I've even recast and converted the old Marx '60s Dad figure for my Robbery Homicide detective to pose with it...
"Just waiting for parts" as the saying goes.

You think I was kidding? LOL. True story. But truth be told. I use to have a 2nd gen Cammro parts business. I bought the car to junk. Back then. I made more money on them in pieces. Sad thing. I would love to have that car today. I drove it i to my garage and it never drove out in one piece.
Nice video. I didn't notice it till I was informed on another TH-cam channel. The rear chrome around trunk doesn't match up with the trunk. Not a biggie to me, but still, so close. LOL! Anyway, keep up with the cool vids. I bought 6 kits of this car. I had 8 but traded out two.
I see you like the tires. I believe Round 2 released a parts pack redline tire pack that are the same big and littles.
I just bought this to build and give to my daughter who watched the show for many years; she likes merch tie-ins to stuff she likes. I also grew up playing Dungeons & Dragons in the 70's so I am familiar with magical symbols. I think people need to simply let things go--if you don't like the trunk markings toss them in the trash. Is it so hard?
And BTW: 56 here, and a big Napalm Death fan.
I bought some of the 1/25th & 1/16th scale models a year ago. All of them were warped, shortened, parts that did not go to the models bought, smaller parts that were broken in the sealed packings. Moldings that were not fully molded in the true form and the machine did not set enough plastic for a complete mold setup

You can graft the front end of a 67 Pontiac Parisienne, graft the taillights, too, and have the Pontiac Strato Chief... like my best friend drove around in...
Hi Luka enjoyed your comparisons, my thing is if anyone buys this kit and is going to get offended by the decal sheet then throw it out AMT is putting out a kit for the Fans of the show and if who ever buys them are going to do something different then dont complain about it just put it in your waste basket and build it your way .
Thanks for the review , doing a 58 impala AMT for a guy paid $32 for it not happy at all with the tooling sucks , sink marks on crazy places , fit issue glad I’m almost done with it
I just bought one to build a police car. Just need to add some frames around the side windows and a few other details.

Awesome review does the new kit have spot lights? I thought i saw spot lights on the box art. It would be nice to have some nicer spot lights for all the old hotrods the old go to amt spots are nice and i have a stash of them just be nice to have something different.

About the surface texture on the new four-door ... is it only on the roof hood and trunk or is it on the sides as well? Is it severe enough to require sanding or could a couple if coats of "filler" primer take care of it?

Bad bodywork in the tooling is less an issue since this is a replica of movie car junk. The screen shows many many ills. I did media car placement for years, learned a lot.
Not a pentagram. Thats a penticle, and in the show, it prevented evil from getting at the trunk. Watch the show. :)
Overall, when I buy a kit, I buy the era body style I like/ want to build. Personally I don't really care what color the plastic is molded in!

For those who are into useless trivia, the pillarless 4 door 67 Chev was the final Chevrolet assembled by Holden in Australia.
So did AMT destroy the 2 door tooling to do the 4 door?
I do not know. But I dont think so. I believe that they are still producing that kit.

Cool to have as a 4 door, the possibilities are endless. I would offer this about the kit being molded in black....fans of the show are most likely not modelers so a kit in color would be better for a individual who might put together quick and shelve it with there supernatural stuff ..... maybe....i guess....i don't know.

They should have made the 4dr. An automatic plus it has an AC cowl but no AC gear.

Check out the Model Car Hobby Headquarters Facebook group. We just had a contest with this kit. One of the members did open the trunk and added the tools. Very cool.

I like the kit but what i dont understand is why didnt they just make a new mold for the body and interior instead of destroying the 2 door which is probably what was done making the 4door . the 2 door 396 was still a popular kit as far as i know just saying
The 2dr. Was the SS427 not a 396 car the hood is only on the SS427 and it's side trim is only on that model also the 396 and all other impalas.had the same side trim that is different.
I had a '67 impala 4 door, gauges are wrong, should have the sweeping speedometer.
One problem is TV car is a automatic not a 4 speed
Nice review. Thanks for the comparo. I’ve never seen the show, and I’m not a fan of the pillarless 4-door body style. But I do like the basic non-SS hood and the front bench seat. I’ll pick up a kit just for those pieces, plus the wheels, tires, and engine parts, etc.

Great video ! I think it's cool that they put out a four door version. There have been tons of two door cars. It would be cool to kit bash and model a car that was Mum's or Grande Dad's and the kid hot rodded it.

Why a decal for the inside of the trunk when the trunk is molded as part of the body?

It's not "disk", it's "dis". As for the molds not being finished...what can we expect from China? lol
Don't blame China, just blame who orders the models. The cartels that own the model companies want profit. The majority of the stuff they turn out were first made over fifty years ago with relatively few truly new models even though China can produce them at the drop of a hat. China is a high tec manufacturing nation that has eclipsed the USA in quality and production abilities. Wearing a dorky hat will not change that situation.

Yeah...I can see the quality in that Moebius Model "Flankenstein" they produced a while back! Even Frank Winspur of Moebius hated it. It was a bad decision from the owners, yes, but China can't get anything right! Now, they're flooding our market with horrible clothing and ripping Americans off left and right! I have a 66 Nova 4 door wagon in the works. Other than that. No I have not.
i built a 4 door impala from the 70 ford police car kit, cut it just where the hood starts and fitted the amt 67 impala front, then cut it about halfway down the trunk and fitted the 70 impala heavy chevy rear, it fit very well and was a good alternative before this kit came out :-)
Not to be an ass but the Impala would not have a Caprice badge.
This is great.id rather have both kits.years ago I owned a 67 Chevy impala ss convertible.red on red .do they have a convertible model.so I collect them all.
Amt did the convertible as an original issue back in 1967,they are pricey and hard to find,Ebay would be your best bet.
Im gonna get one and make a rare factory car like 427 4 speed with the dog dish hub caps thats my idea and im sticking to it lol

Model kits need to slash prices, 32$ for plastic when you can buy better quality diecast 1:24 scale for about the same price , once kits start hitting the 100$ range it makes zero sense
