- User "Derusama" on Discord challanged me to beat Kid Buu on Very Hard difficulty in DBZ Budokai 2 Dragon World.
Not gonna lie, this wasn't easy: used to IW gameplay, getting back to B2 has been a shock. I had to practice all day yesterday to get the hang of it, since its mechanics are very different from B3. Still, some combos remains, although not with the same cancel timing... I didn't even bother trying to get a Perfect in each match for the same reason, is too tedious and boring as gameplay.
Any case, it wasn't so bad after all, maybe I'll play something else too on this every once in while!

@@ulti8106 best budokai game? Does infinite worlds count? I like that one for the simple fact that they put in things like running on snake way, catching bubbles the money, and training. It was different and i hope something like that is done in Kakorot.

I have a very strong memory of having trouble beating super buu as gohan as a kid I eventually beat him but after like 2 days and I mean 2 days after school and in the morning dont think I had ever been more frustrated and had felt like I achieved something in a video game after actually beating him

The board game style story mode is actually nostalgic af lol unexpected but it somehow worked nicely man. They needa remaster every budokai game (tenkaichi) on current gen or next gen

@@Jschad I honestly forgot who it was and it's not that person. I just know that these old game challenge videos kept randomly appearing and it's dudes with face cams that do tons of unfunny editing and ending up failing at the end anyway. Some do some don't but the whole video was not entertaining with them constantly talking, zooming in when they yell and saying how hard the AI is...in very hard mode

Me too man. I remember sneaking into my Christmas gifts one year to find a PlayStation 2 with the first of the series, Dragonball z Budokai. I was so pumped, the only thing I didn't like like about Budokai 2 and 3, was the way the chose to narratie the game, Budokai did it the best by far.
This made for looong Saturdays

I’m sad this game wasn’t in the budokai hd collection. This was probably my favorite budokai game because of the story mode. But kid buu has been the bane of my existence ever since this game
Fun fact: My brother (who made the bet for this VERY VIDEO) Also loves Budokai 2. It's his favorite Budokai game in the entire series because of nostalgia.

Budokai 2 &3 were my jam when young, I would play with the hardest settings in the regular fights just to create a win streak till one of the guys came and thought “hey I can beat this kid, he’s playing on the lowest setting anyway.” Boom, smacked down with one of the low tier characters. If I really wanted to make them feel bad I’d pull out Hercule, Mr Satan for the win. Cause ‘I got the absolute proof’

One of my favorite DBZ games of all time, the story mode was soooooooo unique especially with the What if characters in the story mode. I use to love going back and just replaying to unlock all the hidden features. Brings back so many memories.

I was always able to fight him better with vegeta than goku...cause vegeta's shorter and you can actually land punches

Beating kid buu in this game is actually quite easy. With Goku and Gohan, it's ridiculously easy. All you have to do is to keep dashing to the sides and always starting your combos with KKKK. Once you get kid buu with KKKK, you dash again to his back, and then do a long combo ending with either a warp kamehameha or kamehameha. I used toalways have enough ki doing this to just stay SS3 the whole fight.
With Vegeta, it's a bit trickier. You do the same, dash to its sides in order to get under his defenses, then dash to the back and do a couple of >PPPK in a row, and then end it eith either a Galick Gun or Big Bang Attack. You could chain 4 or 5 >PPPK in a row to get Vegeta's ki up.
With Trunks, you could do either a couple of Burning Attacks, and pepper in some Burning Slashes on the side.
Extremely easy my ass any nigga that tries follow that will just get Kid Buus foot up their ass with his cracked AI functions
@@dogboi76 Trust me when I say it, it was very easy with Goku/Gohan. Obviously, without having properly practiced it, you'll have a lot of trouble, but with practice, it's effortless. To me, Budokai 3 was a lot more challenging.

True tbh. I forgot how op the combo cancels were if you can keep the timing fluid. Back in the day though holy shit I never really knew about cancelling and was having so much trouble against him

My older brother had this game on ps2. However, he had no memory card so every day I wanted to play it, I had to play through the story mode. Buu was always hell to get past.

The open-ish world story mode was one the reasons I enjoyed this game yet others hated it for it. I thought it was cool adding random characters to your team

For me personally, I so loved Budokai 1's story mode that I measured every DBZ game's story to that bar. That was the most I had ever been into a story mode and it was in large part due to the really fleshed out cutscenes. I still remember my reaction when I clicked on story mode for Budokai 1 and the first thing I see is a damn near frame for frame recreation of Raditz coming to earth. I couldn't wait to see those same fleshed out cutscenes for my favorite Majin Buu moments and so when I played this and I saw a board game I was beyond disappointed lol. My friends and I still laugh about my reaction. We played the story for hours and I kept saying "nah this isn't the real story. The cutscenes are gonna come later" Then we beat it and we were legit depressed lol. If Budokai's story mode was never a thing I probably wouldn't have had a problem with Budokai 2 but I will never defend their choice to do a damn board game. This is why I'm so excited for Kakarot. Those cutscenes look so great and the open world details are pretty interesting.
With that said, The gameplay for this was great and I will give them all the credit for revamping the engine in comparison to Budokai 1. Other than the story mode it's a really big upgrade from 1 and it laid the ground work for the masterpiece that would ultimately be Budokai 3.

Anthony Young I could almost argue the one with vegeta vs kid buu was harder since it was longer and it was almost impossible to keep him in a combo, I just remember running and spamming explosion wave, and if I messed up it was over

Budokai 2 Kid Buu without Viral Heart Disease/Vaccine combo is one of the hardest bosses I've fought. I wanted to see if this guy could beat him without those two skills AND without losing a single life.

By far one of the hardest things to do other than the initial Goku vs Great Ape Vegeta without Kamehameha spam to win... And don't get me started on that last mission in DBZ Another Road... Beat him without taking damage for the Z rank grade in that mission... Absolute NIGHTMARE!
