@@tankonaut Im pretty sure that German CAS is a bit more dominant than US. US CAS is mostly fighters with 2 bombs and a few HVARs while germany has that and aircrafts with guns that can pen Heavys quite easily. The closest thing the US has is the PBJ1 wich is very difficult to use and its 75mm gun fires slowly and has a slow muzzle velocity

Sherman main here, i usually ram an APHE shell into the cupola whenever i see a Tiger H1. When it is a Tiger E however i just break the barrel. Tiger mains out there should remember that enemies in this tier tend to get very experienced. Never take unnecessary risks, you are a heavy tank. One mistake means death.

If you know the H1 well, you know that the anti-personnel launchers often force you to over angle slightly to get -10 degrees of depression. Sometimes you have to go with your instinct - I guessed he'd shoot my front plate as my side was partially obscured by the terrain. I went for the shot, bouncing the PT76 heat and killing him.
easy solution is to buy the Heavy Tank No. 6 or Tigris, but then you also gotta grind a line up and neither italy nor japan is particularly fun to grind
U got lucky nobody used them range finder to locate you and aim your cupola, that's why I max out gunner accuracy and range find skill first on any crew, long shots (700m to 1.2km) require precision and have to be fast, so it's best to have those 2 skills all the way up so you don't miss the shot when you shoot.
Personally, I love to use the Pzgr. Shell. It might not have as much pen as the Pzgr 39 shell, but is has 200g of explosive mass, so if it does penetrate, it's basically an instakill.
@@aperson7266 Most of the time I try and plan a shot ahead of time - so if I kill a tank and I know there is a soft target near I load HE. Also, sometimes you don't kill a soft target first hit, so its always worth quickly hitting HE before your regular shell reloads. The last reason is that light targets can often be behind cover so you can kill them with HE to the roof etc. hope that helps

This sometimes happens yes - but if you are using cover, and keep moving (never stay still unless you are shooting) you can mitigate a lot of these kinds of shots. The Tiger can be a volumetric nightmare when moving

Angling is the key....I used to die early too but now getting better at it as I angle more. Basically you need to keep few things in mind. 1. If there' s a vantage point ....try to get there first before the enemy does. 2. Do not rush blindly. 3. Make sure your flanks are well covered on all sides.... 4. Find your enemy first and get a fix on them....see first without being seen. And if you are spotted first then change positions...use the smoke shells. 5. Fire and manuever.
After 6 years in WT i realized that Tiger is pretty effective from 500m away and have capabilities in long range fight Sherman is effective only in close range battle except M4A3E2 with its armor
Yes 500m is a perfect engagement range for the tiger - you have just enough pen to wipe most enemies and enough range to make your angled armor shine :)
Funny how angling something that was only done because crew knew its armor wasn't enough to protect them normally irl makes a massive difference in war thunder.
No, find a good area of cover that also providers great oversight upto at least 1km away, angle best you can, hunker the fuck down. That's what Tiger's are best at.
Pushing forward would be a good idea with its thick heavy armor but it would leave your flanks exposed and you would be so focused on the front you would not see anyone from your left or right and high caliber rounds such as the American m4a2 76mm and the is1,2 and t34-85 can easily penetrate right through the frontal armor

After you play that against super pershing, is2\is3 t-54 and american t-30 you would feel like german are *weak* but yeah, german's heavy are great as well as MT
@@volodyan7780 i disagree, the jpz 4-5 is way better than its br. i still use it in my 8.0 lineup where really the only thing holding it back is the lack of rangefinder (easily fixable by using sights with mills.) the ferdinand for its br is somewhat mediocre but you really cant call it bad. the only thing that i can really say is bad is probably the M48 where it just lacks identity. its a medium but its not fast, its got armour but literally anything in its br is gonna pen through it. the gun is only slightly better than the jpz 4-5. there's really no other reason to play it other than as a backup. as for my jpz however, it eats IS and T tanks on a daily. heatfs punches straight through, smoke launcher is fairly decent, its fast so i can relocate quickly, costs nothing to spawn, its great.

Also use the rounds that has the highest explosive mass inside the shell so you can 1 shot most of the time Note. Usually these shell's can have less pen of the default one by like 10mm difference but it's better to get 1shots than trying to aim at the placement of crews in the enemy's tank
Now that we’ve learned how to effectively play tiger time for effective counter tiger strats 1: the gun to track to side combo, aim for the main cannon, if done correctly say bye bye to being one shot, next destroy the track, machine guns or cannons are fine, once immobilized flank it on its side and let it rip. 2: smoke rounds: the biggest advantage a tiger has is its range, use smoke rounds to either cover your approach or blind the tank itself in long or close quarters, this is especially effective at covered firing positions as it forces them to leave cover to attack or hope the enemy rushes in front of them 3: big armor piercing guns and ammo: self explanatory, anything under 75mm will struggle even hitting straight on, the bigger and longer the gun and it’s ammo the better as it gradually renders even corner facing useless.
Don't forget to: -angle it simultaneously towards all directions where the enemy could possibly shoot you from. This may sound difficult, but once you manage to tap into 4th dimension it becomes very easy -retract your cupola so that enemy won't send you to hangar by shooting it -give your gunner some panzerschokolade so that he could turn your turret faster than 1° per eternity -put a force field generator on your massive muzzle brake so that you won't get your barrel broken 20 times in a single fight -avoid getting put against the big HE slingers that plague this br bracket, stuff with HEATFS like the M36 and the M-51, against the IS-2, the centurions... Pretty much against any vehicle other than the early shermans&t-34 and anybody with enough braincells to not consider jumbo a weak tank on its current br
Haha, I think I've definitely got better over the last year or so. I find the more confident I play the tiger, the better I do. The tank always feels really powerful to me :)
When i moved from the US to Germany, i went straight for the tiger h1. Immediately fell in love with it. Two matches stick out to me, one was a full 6.3 uptier. I had domminated the match, easiliy dispatching targets and capping points. The box shape allowed me to round a corner which had a pershing. Since i came around at an angle, i survived, he did not. The second match 6.3 uptier, had me over pushing very aggressively. Even the tiger 2 held back. I quickly found myself in there spawn, and died. First was rhine, second was carpathians.
Sounds like some fun games! yes the tiger plays very different depending on if you are uptiered or downtiered - if you see my lineup video the strategy I often adopt in uptiers is to play heavy tanks (especially the tiger) second or third spawn. That way the enemy's best tanks are often dead and the Tiger can play more aggressively :)
@@WarHunter57 well the IS-2 is 6.0 and the IS-2 1944 is 6.3. In real Life these tanks were designed to kill tigers so the increased battle rating balances it out IMHO? I love tigers but if there weren’t tanks like the IS series they would dominate ;)

The Tiger has an weakspot when its angled. When you encounter a T-34-85 they can easily penentrate your side lower plate that has just 60mm of armour. That happens me almost all the time. As we know the 85mm that the T-34-85 uses can penentrate angled armour quite good.
I agree 100% but I rarely get shot there - maybe because I play the Tiger as an open country tank in hilly terrain and avoid cities as much as possible. When you leverage your gun depression against Russia your lower hull is less visible and they don't have your gun depression.

Also, it’s best to use the PzGr. over the PzGr 39, because while it may have a little less pen, it has over twice the explosive filler, meaning almost all of your shots will be one shots.
If they added crew panicking sound effect it would be amazing, like when you and the t-34 were racing to who will kill the first one, it would be amazing to hear your crew screaming at each others
Yes, I find that the tiger can angle against about 50% of the enemies it faces if it can’t - it can still one tap anything else with that huge amount of TNT filler in the PzGr shell. In dowriers it can definitely be more aggressive / rely on its armor more but even in uptiers it can handle itself if played carefully ( see my Tigris vid )
Whenever I use the Tiger, 99% of the time Gaijin sends me late cold war enemy team. That 1% of WW2 enemy team is extremely rare, it almost never happens. Combine that with enemy helicopters and jets with magnetic bombs. Cheaters/hackers are just another breed of sh8 that exists in the game.

As a new Tiger player, I love this tank ever since I bought it. Got many kills on second gameplay as urban sniper in Abandoned Town. The only enemy you should feared is the Hellcat (and other GMC variant) as they can flank you quickly especially on close-range maps
As a tiger player for years all i can say is BRAVO 👏👏👏 it is true that once an experience player plays his Tiger I and knows how to use it, is really scary as heck

The tigers turret has such a menacing ominous atmosphere around it I don't know why but it is just awesome. That would have been fear incarnate back in the day.
So true! It's really a very intimidating tank right? Lots of people have said "just shoot the cupola" but in an ACTUAL BATTLE I find 90% of people panic fire at the Tiger and mess up. This tank can scare people :)
Another advice is to bring 25 rounds max to empty the sides of the hull of ammo. I still laugh when I remember that a PT-76 and a solid shot tank penned me from the side but did absolutely no damage due to no ammo being there like they expected, I did the neutral steering with the turret and they died, and that was at breathing range. For the Jumbo, it really depends on who shoots first. The Jumbo will always aim for the barrel, wiggle the turret, make it miss, and then you can break the tracks of it. The Tiger can be a sitting duck without tracks but so is the Jumbo with the MG port on sight, the Tiger has enough HE filler in the AP round to end it on one shot. As for angling, it's quite easy, turn the turret until it's just past one of the front corners of the hull, then rotate the hull until that corner is pointing head on to where you want to watch, and voila, you have 200mm+ of armor on the hull, and the turret is trolly enough to deflect shots it shouldn't survive.
I once done a 13 kill in a full uptier with tiger E. Always, always angle as soon as you see a tank no matter if he is looking at you or not. Plan the direction of movement that allows you to angle the hull to the direction where potential threats would appear. Know your enemies’ weak spots and take time for better aim cuz most of the time they can’t penetrate you as well.

@@tankonaut The motto for british players is “Pen everything, damage nothing.” The Normal solid shot AP is also still perfectly capable of destroying Tigers and have a lot more post pen damage though.
Once I played against germany on the same map. There was one single tiger defending a capture point point. No one was able to destroy it. It totally decimated our team and we lost the battle. True king.
Tiger players who have mastered 1 kilometer + shooting are the real MVPs. The 88s live and breathe long range and the armor ramps up in effectiveness at range.
Personally I find the jumbo to be better in terms of 1 on 1. A jumbo can be quite tricky to disable effectively when the jumbo has just about every advantage aside for penetration. Bur against a H1 its usually a shot to the capola, then either a disabling shot like the track, and a finisher to the capola again, or if it's a tiger E, barrel, 50 cal a track, and flank. A tiger can't pen the hull or turret, and the smaller gun on the jumbo makes shooting out its barrel more difficult than the jumbo shooting the tiger. Not to mention the jumbo Armour is still very capable against guns that can pen up to 200mm excluding the is2 up. The tigers Armour even angled starts to faulter around 150-200mm and it's turret is only 100mm at some parts. Objectively played well the tiger 100% is extremely capable and lethal if not for the players themselves hindering the tank. And objectively the tiger is more capable due to a better gun with slightly worse Armour and speed. But the jumbo is better 1 on 1
Yes sir, Jumbos are definitely one of the trickier opponents you face in a Tiger, especially the 76mm versions. Yes, you have to get good at penning that mg port or track side or you are in trouble.
Russian Main here, predominantly playing 5.3 lineup that rarely sees the Tiger H1 in max uptiers. He's absolutely right. Pushing forward at an angle panics virtually every player into taking some kinda shot before they die.
It's an interesting balannce tbh - the jumbo gets that insane front armor which a lot of players struggle to beat - but yes, the Tiger is a better vehicle IMHO - if you play it right :)
And then an American 76 slaps your commanders' hatch, and the commander, loader, and gunner all wonder why theirs some guy in a cart asking if they are awake.
Keep in mind if you see this video now. That angling the tiger only helps on very few targets nowadays, since the BR change guarantees almost 80% of the time that the enemy can pen you anyways.
This is true to an extent - there are a lot more dangerous vehicles around the Tiger's BR but training your muscle memory to always angle is god practice - you never know when you get a lucky bounce :)

To add, your main competition at your br is the Jumbo. 75mm can’t kill you in one go unless you get ammo racked. But players using the US around that tier will always use the track and barrel method. To my fellow jumbo mains. Pack with you at least 5 APCR. After tracking/barreling/cupola shots, you can line up an APCR to hit their ammo in the sponsons to kill them frontally.

Personally, I love to use the Pzgr. Shell. It might not have as much pen as the Pzgr 39 shell, but is has 200g of explosive mass, so if it does penetrate, it's basically an instakill.
nice! I do the same :) I normally take 20 x Pzgr, 4 x Pzgr 39 and 4 x HE. That Pzgr shell has double the TNT of the Tiger II's 88! Crazy good

@@aperson7266 Most of the time I try and plan a shot ahead of time - so if I kill a tank and I know there is a soft target near I load HE. Also, sometimes you don't kill a soft target first hit, so its always worth quickly hitting HE before your regular shell reloads. The last reason is that light targets can often be behind cover so you can kill them with HE to the roof etc. hope that helps

This sometimes happens yes - but if you are using cover, and keep moving (never stay still unless you are shooting) you can mitigate a lot of these kinds of shots. The Tiger can be a volumetric nightmare when moving

Angling is the key....I used to die early too but now getting better at it as I angle more. Basically you need to keep few things in mind.
1. If there' s a vantage point ....try to get there first before the enemy does.
2. Do not rush blindly.
3. Make sure your flanks are well covered on all sides....
4. Find your enemy first and get a fix on them....see first without being seen. And if you are spotted first then change positions...use the smoke shells.
5. Fire and manuever.

Sherman is effective only in close range battle except M4A3E2 with its armor
Yes 500m is a perfect engagement range for the tiger - you have just enough pen to wipe most enemies and enough range to make your angled armor shine :)

Luckily the OKW decided to make smoke grenades part of the Tiger's arsenal.

No, find a good area of cover that also providers great oversight upto at least 1km away, angle best you can, hunker the fuck down. That's what Tiger's are best at.
Pushing forward would be a good idea with its thick heavy armor but it would leave your flanks exposed and you would be so focused on the front you would not see anyone from your left or right and high caliber rounds such as the American m4a2 76mm and the is1,2 and t34-85 can easily penetrate right through the frontal armor

After you play that against super pershing, is2\is3 t-54 and american t-30 you would feel like german are *weak* but yeah, german's heavy are great as well as MT
@@volodyan7780 i disagree, the jpz 4-5 is way better than its br. i still use it in my 8.0 lineup where really the only thing holding it back is the lack of rangefinder (easily fixable by using sights with mills.) the ferdinand for its br is somewhat mediocre but you really cant call it bad. the only thing that i can really say is bad is probably the M48 where it just lacks identity. its a medium but its not fast, its got armour but literally anything in its br is gonna pen through it. the gun is only slightly better than the jpz 4-5. there's really no other reason to play it other than as a backup. as for my jpz however, it eats IS and T tanks on a daily. heatfs punches straight through, smoke launcher is fairly decent, its fast so i can relocate quickly, costs nothing to spawn, its great.

Note. Usually these shell's can have less pen of the default one by like 10mm difference but it's better to get 1shots than trying to aim at the placement of crews in the enemy's tank

Now that we’ve learned how to effectively play tiger time for effective counter tiger strats
1: the gun to track to side combo, aim for the main cannon, if done correctly say bye bye to being one shot, next destroy the track, machine guns or cannons are fine, once immobilized flank it on its side and let it rip.
2: smoke rounds: the biggest advantage a tiger has is its range, use smoke rounds to either cover your approach or blind the tank itself in long or close quarters, this is especially effective at covered firing positions as it forces them to leave cover to attack or hope the enemy rushes in front of them
3: big armor piercing guns and ammo: self explanatory, anything under 75mm will struggle even hitting straight on, the bigger and longer the gun and it’s ammo the better as it gradually renders even corner facing useless.

Don't forget to:
-angle it simultaneously towards all directions where the enemy could possibly shoot you from. This may sound difficult, but once you manage to tap into 4th dimension it becomes very easy
-retract your cupola so that enemy won't send you to hangar by shooting it
-give your gunner some panzerschokolade so that he could turn your turret faster than 1° per eternity
-put a force field generator on your massive muzzle brake so that you won't get your barrel broken 20 times in a single fight
-avoid getting put against the big HE slingers that plague this br bracket, stuff with HEATFS like the M36 and the M-51, against the IS-2, the centurions... Pretty much against any vehicle other than the early shermans&t-34 and anybody with enough braincells to not consider jumbo a weak tank on its current br

When i moved from the US to Germany, i went straight for the tiger h1. Immediately fell in love with it. Two matches stick out to me, one was a full 6.3 uptier. I had domminated the match, easiliy dispatching targets and capping points. The box shape allowed me to round a corner which had a pershing. Since i came around at an angle, i survived, he did not.
The second match 6.3 uptier, had me over pushing very aggressively. Even the tiger 2 held back. I quickly found myself in there spawn, and died.
First was rhine, second was carpathians.
Sounds like some fun games! yes the tiger plays very different depending on if you are uptiered or downtiered - if you see my lineup video the strategy I often adopt in uptiers is to play heavy tanks (especially the tiger) second or third spawn. That way the enemy's best tanks are often dead and the Tiger can play more aggressively :)
I'm not a German player, but a Soviet one, and I confirm that I always see Tigers I in my IS-2, show my engine and they're free kills.

The Tiger has an weakspot when its angled. When you encounter a T-34-85 they can easily penentrate your side lower plate that has just 60mm of armour. That happens me almost all the time. As we know the 85mm that the T-34-85 uses can penentrate angled armour quite good.
I agree 100% but I rarely get shot there - maybe because I play the Tiger as an open country tank in hilly terrain and avoid cities as much as possible. When you leverage your gun depression against Russia your lower hull is less visible and they don't have your gun depression.

Yes, I find that the tiger can angle against about 50% of the enemies it faces if it can’t - it can still one tap anything else with that huge amount of TNT filler in the PzGr shell. In dowriers it can definitely be more aggressive / rely on its armor more but even in uptiers it can handle itself if played carefully ( see my Tigris vid )
Now play it facing Cold War tanks like everyone else.

Whenever I use the Tiger, 99% of the time Gaijin sends me late cold war enemy team. That 1% of WW2 enemy team is extremely rare, it almost never happens. Combine that with enemy helicopters and jets with magnetic bombs. Cheaters/hackers are just another breed of sh8 that exists in the game.

Yes sir - that comment was a bit of an over exaggeration. I was trying to stress the importance of angling, because I kill so many un-angled tigers who sit stationary during reloads. It's sad to see and I want to change that :)
As a new Tiger player, I love this tank ever since I bought it. Got many kills on second gameplay as urban sniper in Abandoned Town. The only enemy you should feared is the Hellcat (and other GMC variant) as they can flank you quickly especially on close-range maps

The tigers turret has such a menacing ominous atmosphere around it I don't know why but it is just awesome. That would have been fear incarnate back in the day.
So true! It's really a very intimidating tank right? Lots of people have said "just shoot the cupola" but in an ACTUAL BATTLE I find 90% of people panic fire at the Tiger and mess up. This tank can scare people :)
Another advice is to bring 25 rounds max to empty the sides of the hull of ammo.
I still laugh when I remember that a PT-76 and a solid shot tank penned me from the side but did absolutely no damage due to no ammo being there like they expected, I did the neutral steering with the turret and they died, and that was at breathing range.
For the Jumbo, it really depends on who shoots first. The Jumbo will always aim for the barrel, wiggle the turret, make it miss, and then you can break the tracks of it. The Tiger can be a sitting duck without tracks but so is the Jumbo with the MG port on sight, the Tiger has enough HE filler in the AP round to end it on one shot.
As for angling, it's quite easy, turn the turret until it's just past one of the front corners of the hull, then rotate the hull until that corner is pointing head on to where you want to watch, and voila, you have 200mm+ of armor on the hull, and the turret is trolly enough to deflect shots it shouldn't survive.

I once done a 13 kill in a full uptier with tiger E. Always, always angle as soon as you see a tank no matter if he is looking at you or not. Plan the direction of movement that allows you to angle the hull to the direction where potential threats would appear. Know your enemies’ weak spots and take time for better aim cuz most of the time they can’t penetrate you as well.
It’s a fortress until a 17 pounder shows up with Sabot and whoops your ass even when you angle.

Once I played against germany on the same map. There was one single tiger defending a capture point point. No one was able to destroy it. It totally decimated our team and we lost the battle. True king.

Tiger players who have mastered 1 kilometer + shooting are the real MVPs. The 88s live and breathe long range and the armor ramps up in effectiveness at range.
Personally I find the jumbo to be better in terms of 1 on 1. A jumbo can be quite tricky to disable effectively when the jumbo has just about every advantage aside for penetration. Bur against a H1 its usually a shot to the capola, then either a disabling shot like the track, and a finisher to the capola again, or if it's a tiger E, barrel, 50 cal a track, and flank. A tiger can't pen the hull or turret, and the smaller gun on the jumbo makes shooting out its barrel more difficult than the jumbo shooting the tiger. Not to mention the jumbo Armour is still very capable against guns that can pen up to 200mm excluding the is2 up. The tigers Armour even angled starts to faulter around 150-200mm and it's turret is only 100mm at some parts.
Objectively played well the tiger 100% is extremely capable and lethal if not for the players themselves hindering the tank. And objectively the tiger is more capable due to a better gun with slightly worse Armour and speed. But the jumbo is better 1 on 1
Yes sir, Jumbos are definitely one of the trickier opponents you face in a Tiger, especially the 76mm versions. Yes, you have to get good at penning that mg port or track side or you are in trouble.

Russian Main here, predominantly playing 5.3 lineup that rarely sees the Tiger H1 in max uptiers. He's absolutely right. Pushing forward at an angle panics virtually every player into taking some kinda shot before they die.

It's an interesting balannce tbh - the jumbo gets that insane front armor which a lot of players struggle to beat - but yes, the Tiger is a better vehicle IMHO - if you play it right :)
And then an American 76 slaps your commanders' hatch, and the commander, loader, and gunner all wonder why theirs some guy in a cart asking if they are awake.

Keep in mind if you see this video now. That angling the tiger only helps on very few targets nowadays, since the BR change guarantees almost 80% of the time that the enemy can pen you anyways.
This is true to an extent - there are a lot more dangerous vehicles around the Tiger's BR but training your muscle memory to always angle is god practice - you never know when you get a lucky bounce :)

Yep, those cupola shots are the Achille's heel of the H1. I just try to wiggle and keep moving to pressure the enemy into missing their shot if i can.

To add, your main competition at your br is the Jumbo. 75mm can’t kill you in one go unless you get ammo racked. But players using the US around that tier will always use the track and barrel method.
To my fellow jumbo mains. Pack with you at least 5 APCR. After tracking/barreling/cupola shots, you can line up an APCR to hit their ammo in the sponsons to kill them frontally.
