They were so pleased anytime they received any recognition. They didn’t realize the contribution they were making to rock and roll. Glad I’m of an age to remember them in their prime.
My god, what a voice he still has it has so much texture and sounds amazing here so distinctive...wish there was more. But he has paid his dues, rest up buddy!
It was kind of cool seeing Graham Nash singing with Don Everly because in His book "Wild Tales " Graham tells how He and Allan Clark met the Everly brothers when They were in Their early 20's and The Everly's took the time to talk to them and offer them encouragement and Graham said that if He ever became famous, He would treat the fans the way the Everly Brothers treated Him.
I want to testify how true that is. I had a couple of encounters and yes they were gracious. I was terribly nervous and I think they thought it was funny. It probably was.
This was wonderful, I'm glad they received this award and Don was there to receive it in both their honour. Don saying "my brother" shows more love, he and all of us know he means Phil so let's not take anything negative out of that. We all know they loved each other no matter their differences. Bless them both for what they have given us over the years.
Don could put on the show part, being very funny, etc., but Phil had perfect pitch. People think he harmonized more because he was younger; no, Phil had perfect pitch. They influenced everyone in 60s & 70s. Imagine all those future harmonic stars in their bedrooms still home with their parents, listening to the radio and asking, “How do they do that?” And they listened and studied and listened and practiced until, well, they could do it. Don’t think the Everly Brothers didn’t practice. How did they swing their voices up the way they did? I am grateful those performers who got so famous alway credited them. Essentially, a 50s team, in the Marines by ‘61. They missed out in a way. And they gave us our sound.
My sister would play this record when breaking up with her boyfriend on the phone and when the record was done she would hang up the phone. We had a good laugh cause he deserved it.

+Susan Bottomley - if you do your research you will know that the 'brothers' are Don AND Phil (RIP) You have to love them both and not judge. It may be very difficult for Don to actually say Phil's name as he is really cut up about his 'brothers' passing, it took a lot out of him. Both brothers survived their differences and were very strong in getting back together. They are (Phil were) wonderful people in their own right, modest, and not an ounce of vainness in any bone in their bodies. The Everly Brothers should be remembered for their music and people should leave their personal lives to them. From an Everly Brothers music forever and forever fan.
