I hope it helps you keep warm! We used a heated fresh water hose, but the one thing we missed was using heat tape or something for the sewer hose. Stay warm.
Yes I always go straight across first all the wheels all the way down up against that edge so your slide out stay warmer underneath there's a edge you can put your foam up against your I use the gray board and then you close in the slide out separately you will have double insulation and not so much air coming in on your slide outs you just make it snug enough so that you tap it in and it stays you don't have to tape it or anything hardly and then I make whole on each side with a small screwdriver and tie them all together shut with zip ties no tape tape will fall off the minute it rains or snows the zip ties keep the wind from blowing them off also I've been doing this for 3 or 4 years in this style awesome much warmer with the screwdriver you just punch the slight hole on one piece and a slight hole on the next piece allowing an inch or so from the edge so you don't break the edge off then you run the zip ties through each one and tie it and clip it off I wish I could send you pictures I have mine completely done
It just gives you an extra layer sometimes I put other layers underneath in the back or under the slide out and then close in the outside of the slide out I also close the sides of my slide out where my windows are on the ends with the same stuff I fit it tight enough that I can just tap it in with my hand and close in each end all winter I wish I could send you a picture
@@camplifenewa also when you're closing in the bottom you can use the zip ties and make a door that opens and shuts to access water areas in case of need use a zip ties like a hinge and sometimes I use a wire or pipe cleaner to latch the other side my gray and black tank poles are inside a door on the side of my camper so they are not exposed but if you need to do anything with the water hose then you can go underneath with your doorway
Do you have any comparisons on your internal temps or compartment temps with and without the skirting? My main concerns are the grey and black waste tanks which I don't have any heat pads applied.
Hi Mark. I'm sorry I don't. It was our first winter. I can tell you the inside temps were more even and comfortable. Our trailer says its all season and the tanks did not freeze.
I am in Nebraska I have been in my camper for 5 years there is no comparison to staying warm without skirting you will freeze up and just those plastics and stuff will not stop it you have got to have some insulation board I use inch and a half
Thank you for your insights. Wisconsin weather would definitely put it to the test! We get pack rats in this area but fortunately didn't have any under the trailer. Best wishes on a mild winter this year.
Thanks for this video! We’re gearing up to RV through the winter in Nebraska! 🥶 ❄️ ⛄️

That will help out immensely in all categories im sure.
I did the same as your doing but also added metal sideing over the insulation and added a few air vents for circulation under it
Great additional ideas!
Alot of work but well worth it in the end and yes it does save on the heating cost
I'm In NE WA too, skirting a 5th wheel for the first time, thanks for the vid! you guys make a great team!
Thank you for your comment Sarah. I'm so glad it was helpful! I hope you stay warm this winter.
I live in Wisconsin 😊
Use a small screwdriver and zip tie it'll stay in place the rest of the year even through the wind
I already did this with gray board insulation and I don't use tape I use zip ties
Make sure you go against the wheels first and then do your slide outs
That's interesting. Can you explain why? Just curious. Thanks!

@@camplifenewa I am in Nebraska I have an electric water hose and I have never froze up closing in like this

Were you able to reuse your boards after the winter?
Hi Alice. We left them in place but we are hoping to reuse or repurpose them after we move into our new home. Thank you for asking!

Soooo this was done in three winters
Hi William. We are going into the 2nd winter with the rigid form board skirting. It's held up very well so far.
Buen video👍
Let me know if you have any other questions
Also put rat poison under my unit because they will look for places to nest during winter months 😊
