Alabasta Arc is the best arc in one piece, its not my favorite one arc, but in terms of comedy, action , mistery and plot, its the top arc of the series

@@RikThunder33 since he thought he would finish OP in like 5 years, there must be a lot he changed or made up on the spot just because he had fun writing the story, no matter what the initial plan was😄
@@felphero A few years ago, he showed the cover of the manuscripts containing the two arcs that followed the one he was working on at the time (maybe it was a leak, I don't remember exactly).
I think he definitely makes plans and has a general idea of where to guide the story, but, as it normally happens with writing, he may get inspired and make some changes on a weekly basis.
There are rumors that this fight between Luffy and Zoro was pushed by his editors but i never saw a source for it. I saw many hating on it cause it feels out of character for Luffy to jump to conclusions so fast and get so serious about killing Zoro when he knows him well, but it's still an entertaining fight for me😂
I always thought Luffy’s reasoning made sense though, because Luffy makes friends really easily and especially because the whiskey peak people gave him food, so if he just found all his new friends dead on the floor by Zoro it would make sense for him to think he’s a traitor
@@masonschetrompf3665 it's more that Luffy absolutely trusts his crew so you would expect him to at least have doubts about Zoro randomly beating up people, while here he goes straight to killing a close friend. Though it's not like Oda doesn't make other Strawhats act out of character from time to time for a reason or another (often for gag scenes) so not that big of a deal i guess🤷♀️
@@bluelight17 Entertaining yes, but it always felt like an afterthought to me. Like fans who had grown up playing SSB were like "Who would win in a fight between Luffy and Zoro!??" So Oda was like "Idk, here you go i guess, does it really matter?"

Not a spoiler but a fun fact, Oda didn't plan on Miss Wednesday being Princess Vivi at first, he was going to introduce that character later. Then he once drew Miss Wednesday with her hair down and thought she looked like a princess and changed her character on the spot😄 that's why her character is very different after the reveal, in a way that even her being undercover doesn't really explain lol
Yeah, her character pre-reveal doesn't feel like Vivi at all. I can't imagine Vivi being that good of an actor.

Mr 5 is the prime example of when a person has Good Devil Fruit but Very Bad Imagination or Creativity of using that fruit.
I dont think so! His fruits allows him to explode any part of his body but we dont know if these parts can be regenerated after it, which makes a pretty difficult to use fruit. So he resorts to using things that come OUT of his body to explode (his boogers, his breath) since that is not gonna damage his body. I think these silly things Oda does with the devil fruits is the peak of imagination and creativity.
@@Matt60719 We just saw him clothesline Miss Monday and there was an explosion, so that means he caused an explosion with his arm. It's still there afterwards. So it looks like his devil fruit just lets him cause explosions with his body, not that he self-destructs?

@@Matt60719 if that was the case, then by your logic Miss Valentine should splat herself on the ground whenever she uses her kilo-kilo fruit to slam into someone. Or she should get crushed by her own weight. Or she should die because of how light she becomes etc.
It's just a known fact that you are immune to your own devil fruit powers. I mean... If you want concrete proof, Mr 5 literally eats usopps exploding star, breaths out the smoke and says it could use better gunpowder
@@theconductor2969 like i said we dont know if thats the case FOR HIM. But lets say he is capable of regenerate afterwards, how would he do his long range attacks? Specially since he is an secret assassin. Cutting off his arm everytime he wants to attack and throwing it like a bomb? Time and time again? Isnt better to achieve the same result in a painless, quicker, and more practical way in a almost infinte number of times, well thats exactly what his boogers are.
Whiskey Peak is so good. You get to see Zoro being a solo badass. You find out about Baroque Works and Alabasta. You get to see these terrifying numbered BW agents get just completely steamrolled instantly. You get Zoro vs. Luffy. This arc has it all, and it's just the start of the lead-up to everything going on with Alabasta. The start of the Grand Line is probably my favorite part of all of One Piece. It's just so good.

I love how wrong you are about that haha. Oda writes awesome princesses.
Fun fact, Whiskey Peak is one of the arcs where the influence of Oda's editors can be felt most strongly. It was still at a time where One Piece wasn't nearly as big as it is today,so it's understandable why the editors wanted to maximize interest. They're the ones who asked Oda to have Luffy and Zoro fight, although it seems very unlike their character (still really funny tho).
It's also why the Vivi reveal happened at all! oda initially had the idea of introducing a princess character for the purpose of the next arcs,but as the editors wanted him to move on rom Whiskey Peak rather quickly,he had no time to actually introduce her: so he simply resorted to making Miss Wednesday said princess under disguise! A stroke of genius,I'd say.

Looking back on this part from everything I know now about OP, the Boss' plans are so much more elaborate and impactful than I had realized watching it for the first time. There's so much more that his plans actually play into and he has already achieved so much more than you know watching it for the first time. Oda really is a master storyteller.

This is like RPG games where you grind to level up with sidequests and when you finally doing the main quest you already lvl 30.
Luffy vs Zoro was not initially planned by Oda. This was put in story due to request from Editor. They wanted atleast one occurrence where they fight each other, even for a little bit since it was highly requested by fans at that time. So, it might feel out of place.

i always assumed it was to show vivi, that she can trust them with their escort mission, since they can take on baroque agents on the side. still out of place but plotwise needed?

A lot of people hate this fight between Luffy and Zoro but I always thought it was just funny.
The way their fight somehow keeps also working against Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine makes it even better. Zoro side stepping Valentine still makes me laugh. And then the conclusion of it is just the cherry on top!

It's a subtle detail that when Zoro use yubashiri the slash have yellow tint and when he use kitetsu the colour is purple and for wado I think it's white?

And my ditzy ass never pieced together the Friday the 13th thing until you two said it, omg. Thank you.
10:45 NOBODY was prepared for this plot twist. Oda had already written this chapter of the manga, but he was already working in the whole of Alabasta. He had a princess character, but he didn't have a design for her. He chose to make Miss Wednesday into Princess Vivi right then and there, and re-wrote the chapter accordingly. Needless to say, everything from here until the beginning of Alabasta was adapted accordingly to fit this new twist. Episode 65 adapts the last pages of chapter 107, and chapters 108, 109 and 110. That's means that for 2 thirds of this episode, Miss Wednesday and Princess Vivi were still different characters. And on a side note, in the manga she doesn't use perfume as her means to hypnotize people: her outfit doesn't have a wavy pattern, but concentric circles (one on her belly, one on each boob). Her dancing is what hypnotizes people

the fight between luffy and zoro is only there because Oda's publishers or something like that pushed for it since they felt the people wanted to know which of the two was stronger, they said it during the fight. "brute force or swordsmanship, which one is the best. Oda himself dislikes this part

As another reaction channel finds out later, later on episodes if you skip the recaps at the beginnings, you might miss something’s because the anime puts certain scenes in the recap/before the opening songs.

I dont think the live action will have Zoro vs Luffy because now Oda had editorial control and he never wanted them to fight initially anyways and the live action has also sped up the development of their relationship with Zoro vowing his loyalty to Luffy at Baratie.

It seems that the names of the women at Baroque Works are chosen based on Oda's favorite events in Japan. In other words, the name of the woman with Mr.0 is the name of Oda's most favorite event. (It includes not only existing events but also his ideal events😅)

Your reactions are the best: you laugh, you cry, you speculate - but you don't overanalyze what you see and just enjoy the journey, and I think that's exactly how a first One Piece experience should be! :D
And because of this I suggest that you reconsider skipping the filler episodes and watch these, too. Yeah, they don't add any significant things to the storyline. Yeah, sometimes they contain the most annoying or boring characters. And if you were the kind of watchers that want to catch up to the current episodes as fast as possible, I indeed would advise to skip the filler material.
But it seems you're here to enjoy the ride, no matter how long it takes. So why don't get the full experience? :) In the same way, as so many of us did 10, 15, 20+ years ago? In a time when there wasn't any streaming services or long internet blogs that analyzed which episodes should be considered canon or not. When One Piece Fans just sat in front of the TV and watch the newest episode - not knowing if it was a filler or not. And we still had so much fun. There were still such great jokes. Such creative islands. Such crazy (and sometimes very loveable) characters. Did their storylines matter in the grand scheme? No. But they were still a part of One Piece and just because they aren't as incredible amazing as most of the cannon storylines, most of the time they're still good and enjoyable.
Heck, some of the most popular One Piece memes are based on stuff that happened in the fillers! :D
If you still want to skip those episodes, that's perfectly fine. But do it because YOU want it, not because some people in the comments who can't wait to see you cry about the big emotional stuff, demmand it from you. :)
That's just my two cents on that topic. Can't wait for your next reaction video. I have so much fun taking this journey again with you! :D

I would be excited as well to see the Captain and his First Mate fight! Luffy vs Zoro is always a hot topic.
Whiskey Peak is pretty awkward in its reveal of Ms. Wednesday as Vivi and how Luffy and Zoro seem to be forced to fight by the plot, but the story regains its footing after this stumble. I'm extremely interested to see how the live action show will adapt this since they have hindsight and can adjust things to make more sense. In particular, Vivi will have to be rewritten so we're not wondering about her hunting Laboon and threatening Luffy to stop Zoro.
For all his masterful tie-ins and callbacks later, Oda definitely shows a few scissor marks in his early work
