Here's my comment from the original: This is easily my favorite battle theme from these games; Camelot knew it was great because they remade it for Dark Dawn! I tried as hard as I could to make this version as close to the original as possible (I think I spent extra time on this track alone), and I think the result is fantastic.
It’s not perfect, but I think this as close to it as possible. As you mentioned elsewhere in the comments, some parts of the composition may sound off due to no GBA noise being present. Great job! Update: Nope, it’s actually ruddy perfect 😮
I honestly thought I was the only one who did things like that... I'd even do the same thing on the original Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald to fight both Team Aqua & Team Magma for that very same reason~.
So here I was, minding my own business when all of a sudden a YTer I was watching put on GS music in the background and next thing I know, I'm replaying the series and picking up a slew of songs! What a nostalgia bomb and this is easily my favorite track of the whole lot.
Actualmente estoy volviendo a jugar el primer juego y que joyita que fue y es!! De verdad una dificultad terrible saturos y menardi, los verdaderos primeros jefes difíciles de mi vida
Everytime I hear this, all I can think of is the first time I ever faced him... One Mercury Djinn, so no Nereid, Issac hasn't learned Ragnarok yet, and Mia not being properly leveled up. Skill check, indeed...
I have not forgotten about your work and finally hear it for how it really is, full stereo sound stage and all, wow! Expect to be tagged in a channel upload.
Wow, thanks for your efforts in getting all the details right. I was actually commenting on another video about how I’d prefer a remaster over a synth orchestral remake. Then I saw your first version on this track and it led me here. This is exactly the version of this soundtrack that I always wanted. Thank you for all of the effort into making this!
Excellent work! Far and away my favorite song from the OST. If you like the music of Golden Sun you owe it to yourself to check out the composer's work for the Shining and Star Ocean series - especially Shining the Holy Ark.
I’ve always felt that his work for Golden Sun was a spiritual successor from his soundtracks to the SNES games below, highly recommended giving those a listen: Star Ocean th-cam.com/video/z1xB8zYasF4/w-d-xo.html Tales of Phantasia th-cam.com/video/05oWAE0JkNE/w-d-xo.html
ive heard this in a random video i only know 3 videos this song is used in and two of those arent credited ive been searching for years and now trough a german troll rapper video i find this song (für die deutschen ich meine ein video über moneyboy)
@@Coaltergeist Very strongly agree, Golden Sun is much more sophisticated in terms of compositional style than ToP. Take the cord structure of Battle Saturos here, complex but effortless and natural. Feels like he’s applied everything he leaned from his SNES games, then PSX and PS2 then went back to his roots for Golden Sun a much more seasoned composer. But holy moley was the sound programming, instrument samples and dynamic range in Tales off the charts. Like the track “Underground Way” where it literally sounds like a real piano was used, on a SNES…
Possibly already done and I was blind, but do you have the version 2 .mid files uploaded in your link? I have a wild project thread I wanted to follow (expanding the stereo image) starting with this track. I have this prepped for the mid files you already have. Unsure it would amount to anything, but I’m curious.
@@Coaltergeist I used my secret weapon and re-channeling the source .MID was unnecessary. Your V2 .WAV is a 100% stereo mix, it was always there, and I brought it out! It's kind of mind melting, bold and in your face. This is what the solution was designed for. Not the highest quality version.
@@CoaltergeistI’ve been devolving a solution for the past few years, implying it. This is evening, I applied it on the TLA raw GSF of this track and there was no noise with the original panning from the GBA mix. After further work, I can confirm the version 2 tracks expand with the same soundstage as the GSF set, but there is one key difference that is very doable to making them very close to matching 1:1, this opens the door for additional options. And now I’ve filtered out the rest…
Hey wait a second, I just noticed something. Piers is a water adept, therefore he's has blue hair. Sheba is an air adept, therefore she's has blonde hair. Jenna is a fire adept, therefore she had red hair. Felix is an earth adept, therefore he has brown hair. Mia is a water adept, therefore she has blue hair. Ivan is an air adept, therefore he has blonde hair. Garet is a fire adept, therefore he has red hair. Issac is an earth adept therefore he has ... blonde hair? Dammit, someone messed up here.
Part of the reason it may sound different is that there is a lot of extra noise in the original versions. When you remove the noise it changes the sound; nevertheless this is what I set out to do for all of the songs, so it's consistent with the whole soundtrack
@@Coaltergeist That may very well be the case. Also I've been listening to newer masters for a long time, and my last exposure to the original may have been back when I still had my GBA. I suppose it can never really be quite the same experience, but it's still a damn fine job. Good work to you and everyone who helped.
i'm just gonna hijack this thread real quick One big difference between this specific rip and the one found in the first game are the added instruments. This one that you're hearing comes from the second game. The lead synth and harp in the first game's version of this song doesn't have any added echo track. It's a noticeable discrepancy for sure, and I don't have any real preference. I find it interesting that even through development, songs like this one were tweaked. I'm not really in charge of the recording and final mixing, but I'm sure it's entirely possible to render the other version of this track as well.
@@freejusticehere624he extra vibrato was probably added by Sakuraba himself for the second game, as a by design compositional tweak if you will. Therefor, we should consider this revision canon. Plus it sounds awesome, let’s go with that!

Thanks for taking the time to fix the decay setting on the lead synth!! Both versions you've uploaded are great but this one is incredible.

Did the same but with Star Magician.

Motoi Sakuraba, you are a fucking mad lad, we love you for it. Keep it up with the insane Battle Theme.
Sakuraba just makes insane battle themes, it’s his MO. But did you know he also writes pretty innovative dungeon themes as well?

reminds me a lot of mario tennis, do they share composers?
yes they do; same composer, same company, same sound engine
