Seems like quite the hassle to start. My xr400r doesn't have a decompression lever since it was taken off and in a 0° cold start all I have to do is kick 3 times softly then find top dead center and lastly one actual kick and it has started every time without having to actually kick it multiple times, I don't even have to use the choke or blip the throttle to start it surprisingly.
Nice video!! Bro: another little tip: Keep your foot on the kick starter, take a jump and put your body weight on your foot!! Don't just push down on it with your leg. 👍👌
Dude. Turn the fuel off after every ride and let the carb run dry. Turn it on when you go to start it, choke on. Get the kick to to top of the stroke, done. I dunno what you were doing there!
Nice video but i feel like your starting technique needs a little help. Especially when u just started to kick it though hahah. i think i have a video on my channel on how to do it. Once you get to TDC, go down one inch then come backk up and kick it through one time should start up every time.

I work at the machine shop and Hondas XR250/350/400/500/600/650 RFVC have enormous amount of top end prowls which Suzuki does not have any of that. RFVC is the worst motor made. Suzuki's DOHC and water cold and last 3 times longer than air cooled Honda does. It's also first 4 years 1999-2004 Suzuki made K kickstart ONLY model only which was only 12 pounds heavier than a air coole Honda yes it was heavier because it was water cooked but you did not know that right? I machine dirtbike motors every day don't talk to me about honda or any dirtbike stfu

There is a starting procedure. The decomp works well.

No need for strong boots, I start my XR400 with flip flops on easily.

That's why I always say Suzuki DRZ400 is right at the bulls eye of a honda XR400. Starts first kick COLD!!

Using some decomp kicks and doing the right procedure it’ll start 1st -2nd kick. You can keep your Suzuki!
