This was the most epic moment of horse racing by any tv broadcaster ever. Awesome selection. He didn't just casually mentioned the horse, he was all over the horse. He didn't pick a half dozen horse's and start bragging if one of his six won. He nailed this selection big time. Great video!

When he says future bet. I think it means it was a bet he made earlier in the year or past year for the future that he would win the KY Derby, not the future after the Derby. That is a bet you can make every year, months before the derby. If Mike Smith tells you it has a good chance, you listen. He listened. Its almost like insider trading, except horse racing is not regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

My first Kentucky Derby was 2010. I won my first 3 bets of the day, all 3 races in a row, including a a bigger bet (for a college student at least) on a 12-1 that paid for the entire trip's expense for both me and my girlfriend. Having that taken care of, I felt comfortable enough to make an even bigger bet on the actual derby. Super Saver came in and we changed our dinner plans to a much nicer place, and I bought her a dress and a diamond necklace LOL Safe to say, I was hooked, horse racing is still the only bets I'll ever make.

I went into an OTB in NY just as a goof one day to bet on a horse race. There were four longshots in the race. I put five dollars to win on each one. The girl laughed at me, saying "why don't you just bet on all the horses?" The next day as she was paying me $350 for my 70-1 win, i said..."who's laughing now?"

It was the first time I dreamed of him since he died, 5 years prior.
My favorite uncle, "Rocco", just kept repeating himself in this lifelike dream;

So the following day, I went over to Delaware Park and bet $500, on "Giacomo", the
longest shot on the board at 50-1.
Giacomo won paying $102.60 for every $2 bet.
I had 50 individual tickets to win, $10 each to win.
I cashed tickets for a month straight after that win.
So why did I bet that horse?
My uncle Rocco's last name was "Giacomo".
I haven't dreamed about my uncle since that night.

It just reminds me of a tip I gave to a mate on the Melbourne Cup. I was helping him with his bets at the local pub and literally said this: 'Prince of Penzance won the Geelong cup, it's 101 to 1 and Michelle Payne has had a really good year. She'd be the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. If she wins, they'll probably make a movie about it.'
I had eight horses of the 24 on my list for combinations. I was running out of time to get my bets on because I was helping my mate, and he'd actually shown up to the wrong pub, so I'd gone across town to meet him instead. It was packed in this pub compared to the other, with long lines to the counter. He then proceeded to talk to me while attempting to fill out my bets, totally distracting and rattling me. He seemingly didn't understand the etiquette.
Anyway, in the finish I think I had 6 or 7 of the horses in the top eight on my list. However, I had inadvertently left Prince of Penzance out. My jaw dropped as Payne saluted across the line. If I remember rightly, the first 4 paid $1M that year. I walked out and just stood in the carpark, my supposed mate couldn't understand.
Ken's $25 to win bet paid $1,282.50. Giacomo paid $102.60 for a $2.00 win bet......wow.
