    Anither Great Tutorial - Thank you. As for the design Table, this part is genius.... When I first saw this I thought i was going to have to make numerous configurations the long way. But the design table made this easy. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

    Even when the thickness is not consistent, you can still use shell feature just use multi-thickness settings

    MY CONTEXT menu is a big list. how are you getting this small rectangular menu and also i noticed a different shortcut menu during extrusion

    OK...tried to make this and it took almost 3 hours...configurations looked like they were going to work fine...it killed them.
    How did you do it?
    2:26 but...why are we using the 7mm? Isn't parenthesis defining a reference value? I was making it while avoiding the use of this value.
    Thank you for showing 2 different ways of doing the shell/draft
    13:09 I just noticed this tutorial does it in less than 15 minutes! Thank you!
    I'd love to use Design Tables but I don't have a copy of excel...So I used Global Equations. Either way. I very much enjoyed this...Despite how frustrated I got over the (7.00) dimension

      Hey, newbie here. What kinds of values are reference values, and why would they not be used if they're included in a drawing?

    Hello
    good video with a great explanation
    but!!!
    after finishing shell feature and draft 2 times the thickness of the "rib" (this pocket between) in the upper point is 7.08 doing step by step after you
    the drawing says that we have to get 7 mm
    is that a tolerance allowed?

    • @solidworks
      @solidworks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Yurii, you can set tolerance and precision options in the Dimension Value Property Manager. You can also find more resources and information on SOLIDWORKS Forum my.solidworks.com/forums

    • @nickjayr
      @nickjayr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Yurii, i have also seen that and due to way the part is oriented, we not measuring normal to the part, always. Try to measure with EVALUATE and observe the normal distance. It should work!

      Same thing for me, I used the shell command and drafted the surfaces. Instead of getting 7.0 I'm getting 7.06. Weird..! (Using fusion 360)

    • @makovc
      @makovc ปีที่แล้ว

      This is all because the shell makes offset from the surface outside and then it is angled 7deg to the surface where it should have 7mm, so that is the reason you have more than 7.00mm. Shell feature is wrong for this model,

    Just a small comment, the info blocks on the Model Mania specify that dims are in inches unless specified, but mm should be used

    1. Created the main body through two sketches. Top plane and side plane silhouette, with both holes already then combined and the main Body is done
    2. Drafted the outside faces through parting line function and parting line draft function
    3. Created negative bodies for the pockets, with mirror
    4. Drafted the pockets and added fillets
    I never Use BREP features except when you absolutely must ike here with the draft function. I can delete and change all bodies independently.

    Why is the width dimension mark with a Ø?
    As far as I can tell it isn't at diameter.

      @@ethan_djoseph It's dimensioned from the center line, so it measures as if it is a diameter.

    Hey, I have a problem. In my Solidworks sketches, I cannot put sizes right during sketching, I have to create estimated object, and right after it set it size to "diameter 70" for example. How can I change it? Can anyone help?

    • @weevilinabox
      @weevilinabox 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Options (System Options) > Sketch > Enable on screen numeric input on entity creation"
      It has a useful sub-option, "Create dimension only when value is entered". If you type a number, SW adds the dimension. If you don't, it acts as per your description above.

    Am I crazy or is this not the most accurate way to do that pocket? If you offset the exterior edges 7mm by clicking the sloped edge, doesn't it project the sloped edge onto your level sketch plane, and then offset it by 7mm, resulting in a 7.003 wall thickness in the 3D part? Or does the software virtually offset the edge along that sloped face and only then projecting it to your level sketch plane, which would result in the correct 7mm wall thickness.

      Same problem too. I ended up just deleting the cut extrude, applying the draft in the correct position, and then redoing the cut. I wonder if it has something to do with using newer versions of Solidworks
