This is a nice wide trail. I need to keep this in mind if I happen to be nearby, I would love to ride it.

I've ridden up Peters Canyon often from Newport Back Bay but have always turned around when I got to the gate at Peters Canyon Park. After watching this video I'm going to try it out next time. The surface looks like it would be suitable for my Specialized ebike (Turbo Vado SL). BTW were you aware that the Jeffrey Open Space trail is being extended 1.5 miles to Barranca? There will be a bridge over Interstate 5 plus it will intersect with the Walnut Trail. Supposedly to be complete by summer 2024 but I don't know the current status.

Hey John! You should give it a try! I do have some bad news...it seems as though OC parks prohibit any type of Ebike into their unpaved parks. Check out this link
      ocparks.com/parks-trails/aliso-and-wood-canyons-wilderness-park/park-rules#:~:text=Possession%20or%20use%20of%20firearms,within%20regional%20and%20wilderness%20parks.
I didn't say anything but if you ride really slow (under 10mph) and don't use a motor perhaps you can still make it through and enjoy the park. It's just at your own risk :/ Or take the alt route along Pioneer/Jamboree rd! Maybe the rules for the park will change one day!
Also, yes I'm very excited about the Jeffrey open space trail improvements! As soon as I get word that the trail has completed the extension I'll make my way to Irvine to record a video of my favorite route through Jeffrey via Walnut via Peters Canyon. That'll be a great day. A group ride may even be a fun idea!

@@TrailsofCalifornia Yes I'm aware of the ebike rules in OC Parks. I've never seen them enforced. I see kids on class 2 fat tire bikes on them often. With the way the Turbo Vado is designed most people don't even realize it's a class 3 assist bike especially if I leave it in non assist mode you don't get the motor whine. But as you said I can bypass the dirt and continue on the road which is what I've done in the past.

Well done TOSC! Good to see you reviewing a gravel/dirt path. Helpful graphics in this one, like the elevation profile map. I was not aware of this trail. What bike are you riding in this video? Have you looked at/considered using the Relive app in your reviews for the graphics? - Bill

Thanks Bill! I have always loosely used 3rd party apps to track my rides etc but I've never integrated them into the videos for one reason. Other than a Jpeg image pulled from google maps on each video every graphic shown is custom designed, tracked frame by frame. And most of my tracking is done post ride. Call it hand made. I do this to keep to reduce the odds of copyright clashes etc. as each video now gets monetized. The more that I incorporate my own graphics into the videos lessens the chance of my videos getting flagged.
That was my original rational for not layering the more detailed tracking elements into my videos but I'll admit I'm not 100% sure about the legality of doing that. It may be possible for me to incorporate something such as Relive. #1 I just need to look into it, #2 it has to fit the aesthetic! As always, I appreciate the feedback! Thank you!
I'll take some time to think about that!

@@TrailsofCalifornia Thanks Andrew for your reply. I appreciate your work and I'm not aware of all of the constraints you have to consider. Just throwing out some ideas that might/might not be useful to improve your content. I'm sure you've seen examples of these apps, but they do provide some helpful data to the viewer.

I also see some vloggers posting a "Top Donors" list at the end of their videos, which might encourage some to donate $$$ that might help defray some of your costs.

Are you interested in covering the Santiago Creek Bike Trail extension that is being excluded in the upcoming multi-million $ flood control project? This is a golden opportunity to connect TWO 30+ mile bike trail systems and it is being ignored.
